Just enjoying the ride finally and then clouds of steam !! Gutted. Realised it was coolant shooting over the engine so i started it up and prayed for no traffic and luckily made it to my mot garage in a cloud of steam !! Mechanic Greg comes out thinking the worst so i pop the bonnet and we do a bit of poking and find a little pin hole in a coolant pipe at the back of the engine thats shooting water under the engine cover, Greg says no problem, just trim the end of the piping and re-attach. Thank god !!

So, i faffed around taking the car to a few garages to try and get the suitcase section of the exhaust replaced, just with a simple pipe, but i literally couldnt get on the flipping ramps !! So i ended up at a place called Custom Chrome in nuneaton - http://www.custom-chrome.co.uk - 02476 387808 - great pair of guys and took it in their stride, 60 quid later i no longer have a heavy rusty old suitcase box, just a nice stainless curved pipe. Sounds beautiful, so on the way to get it checked over by the mot man i gave it some right foot. And thennnnn . . . . . .

OK thanks chaps, I'll borrow a gunsons and may as well bleed it too while im at it thanks Sam

My car recently failed its MOT on corroded brake lines everywhere. My question is when i replace all of the hard lines and re-bleed do i need to do the clutch again ? I had an absolute mare getting it right before i took it to the MOT so I'm hoping its on a seperate circuit but I'm doubtful. thanks Sam

Nothing too bad actually, need to replace all the hard lines for the brakes as they are too badly corroded, kicking myself really, i knew they were too bad but hoped they would pass, and thats about it. Quite chuffed really, but the temp warning light was flashing at me on the way home, hopefully its nothing too bad. Guy at the garage loved the car too, said it was mint !!

The more I'm thinking about this the more confused im getting. When i look at the nut on the top of the strut its bolted to a thread which has an allen bolt top. So i have the correct swan neck spanner and the correct allen key tool, but i cant undo them as they are stuck solid. If i purchase an impact gun (something I've wanted for a while) and try and undo surely theres nothing to hold the allen bolt part in place ? unless something has gone wrong inside the strut ? I thought with the wheel and everything attached I would be able to ignore the allen bolt part and just yank on my swan neck but the allen bolt just spins with it ?

I might give that a bash actually, just dont want to damage the strut itself because i want to keep all the original parts in case i want to go back to stock at some point

It lives !! Started straight away !! I am so so happy its all gone to plan, got it running on monday, then spent the next day bleeding my brakes which went fine then a whole evening and loads of fluid trying to do my clutch, in the end i bought a gunsons eezibleed and had it done in minutes off a mountain bike tyre. Seriously kicking myself for not taking peoples advice and getting one to start with. Had a quick drive and everything seems fine, plan now is to finish work and get home asap and take the car to the garage just down the road to get the top nut off the front struts, then i can fit front coilies and book for MOT. Chuffed to bits !! pics this evening

I think its there to stop the bit that the handbrake cable is hooked into rotate too far round. But without it it still doesnt go any further round. Problem or not ??
