  1. hey all, i would like some advice as to what could be wrong with my steering on my standard 91 g60 (early spec), it's mainly in the wet i have issues, i have good tyres with enough tread, but the car just wants to slide wide at the front on the bends even at 40 and it scares the hell out of me, my golf which had the same tyres and went around the same bends at 60+,

    things i have noticed are

sit still and turn the wheel to the left i can feel a small clunk (but loud enough for my passenger to hear) and when i straighten back up and when you turn to the right after half a turn

bit of a numb feeling through the steering wheel (but im used to no power steering) but the car still feels like it has a bit of weight when turning

checked my tread depth and on the n/s/f the inner is worn slightly more and o/s/f is about equal across the tread

    car tracks true

when im going through the lanes i feel like im being pulled all over the place and it gives me no confidence to drive quick

i did read about changing all lower ball joints and track rod ends, but i've been quoted by my local vw specialist about £300 to do that work, and i don't want to go through all that if it wont help

  2. hey all, just a random question, i have an audi quattro sitting in my local scrappy, and i nicked the calipers and carriers off the front for my mk2 golf (cos they are the same as the g60), but i was wondering if it was possible to take the quattro guts from the rear? (frame, tank, shafts etc)

  3. hey all, what tyres should my g60 be running? when i put my reg in on blackcircles.com (for example) it says 205/50/15 82vs, but it's running 195/50/15s 82vs, and vw are as useful as a chocolate fireguard, and if i open the drivers door it lists 185/195, and all my books at work for snow socks "oe wheel" on the computer for alloy it all lists 205s, so im confused as to what to order

  4. hey all, im feeling like my g60 1991 just doesn't have the power it first had when i first got it, a couple months ago (yes i did go from a 1.6 golf driver 1990, so a bit of a jump) but on the way home, i had a vito van follow me down the a38 and i put my foot down and the van was keeping up with me, yet i've pulled away gradually in the past, same with some other cars recently, i've had to replace a fuel rubber going into the injector rail and a pipe coming out the other end into the sensor, and a vaccum pipe coming off the inlet manifold into the possibly the vaccum for the fuel rail?

last night i looked at all my fluids i went from having a max oil level to min in a couple months and gone very dark even after the top up, and my coolant is below where it has been over the last couple months too, i start the car and i get some white smoke (possibly water) coming out the exhaust (mainly cos it's cold) but when the engine is up to temp, i get a small misting of white cloud behind me when i put my foot down, the car is due a service at 111421 miles, and im not sure when the charger was last serviced, but all i know is the belt is 22mm wide on the charger (so possibly been serviced and had the extra wide belt put on)

would you say it is due for a service, like oil, air, fuel, and maybe supercharger being sent off too? (could vw service the charger?)

  5. hey all, im looking at replacing one of the vinyl/rubber door sill protectors, i will do my best to describe it

you open the door there is a rubber strip about inch wide nearly the whole length of the door sill, next to about a 2.5" wide sill protector, mine has started to peal up from the weather and it's getting stuck on the bottom of the door and being pulled up and off everytime, i push it back down, slide it back into place then it comes back up again, and now it's started to tear

you can just see it in these pics

  6. just a quick question, still fuel related, i was looking to see if the injectors might be leaking (when i found this pipe) but what colour are the normal injectors? as the ones i have are green, and have been told green top injectors are uprated versions of the standard ez1s?

  7. hey all, i have a mild fuel leak, but not quite sure what size pipe/clamps i need, the location is on top, the pipe is attatched to a solenoid? next to the manifold and breather as you look at it from the top, and the pipe is on a U bend and has started to crack and fuel hisses out one of the connections when flexed

  8. hey all, i need some advice on my exhaust, it's knocking (more than my knees after a bike ride), i want to go polly bush on the mounts, i have one which is shaped like a clover holding the backbox near the tip, two rings behind the back box, i know i can get those, but i have some holding the centre box that i've never seen before, they are quite thin, long, i can try and get a pic uploaded if need be and it's the hook fit type, not the bar/rod fit

  9. No it wont. The original wiring goes all over the place round the car which means there's a voltage drop. ALl the loom does it "short cut" the wiring, making it more direct from the battery thus a lower voltage drop. This doesnt strain the bulbs. Though for the sake of a tenner for 2 x Osram night breakers off ebay, id replace them at the same time.

I don't need to get night breakers as im already running 120% brighter bulbs anyway

  10. Cant recommend Kurzy's triple relay kit enough, good bright lights on main and dipped with proper bulbs...quality kit as well. Why would you bother with anything else?

is that one of the members on here that sells a pre made loom?
