Hi all, I'm looking for an Aqua Blue Pearl bonnet in good condition with good paint for my VR6. It doesn't need to perfect but it needs to be in better condition than my current bonnet which has some irreparable dents in it and ruined paint. The car will be getting a full respray in a couple of years so it just needs to look okay until then. Cheers!

I've spoken to another garage about why they were so much money and he says that because the insurance companies require a warranty on all the work they carry out, they don't do spot repairs to panels as they can't guarantee the work, they only replace, or repair the whole thing. That at least is a small explanation. Perhaps a classic car workshop is the only choice.
-
That's not a bad idea actually. I might spend some time calling a few places to see what they say. So frustrating!
-
Yeah I think there is definitely an element of that for sure. It's also probably easier to just replace the panels, instead of taking the time for a proper job. I had one place insist I needed a whole respray at £6000 because I had a large dent in the bonnet, a blistering front bumper, stone chips on the wings, and a few really small parking dings in the door. Utter jokers. Another place said that it would be £1500 to repair the dent and repaint the bumper and not touch the dents or the wings, when I asked what that was based on, he said it was just what he reckoned..... Presumably these places must have an hourly rate somewhere in the region of £30-£50 per hour plus materials, and have a rough idea of how long it will take. I can't understand why I can't just get a straight quote. Hoping someone will have a decent recommendation for the Manchester area.

Can anyone recommend a body shop to get a few dents pulled out and some small bits of paintwork done in Manchester? I have tried few places but prices seem to vary hugely and don't appear to be based on anything but a number plucked from the air. It's getting a bit tedious driving from body shop to body shop. Cheers.

£180 including postage - open to sensible offers. Brand new, aluminium, powder coated white thermostat housing for 12v VR6. £180 including postage. This is made by Eurowise in the states. This was sent to me as a replacement for a faulty one I received last last year. I never fitted it in the end as I stored the car away for a while. These come in around $280/$300 ish including postage and import fees. I'm open to offers.

Brake servo and master cylinder urgently required
Daveproyoyoyo replied to robbystick's topic in Wanted
I had mine done by them a few months back now and they were really good. I spoke to someone called Nigel on the phone who was exceptionally knowledgable, we spoke for a good 20 minutes or so. We even ran into a few issues with the master cylinder I sent to them which they sorted out quickly a well. Generally I think they were awesome and the only criticism would be that the powder coating they did could have been better, it is a little patchy in places. Everything else they nailed. -

Hi Chris, do any of those master cylinders still have the part numbers on? The second one looks very very similar to what I'm hunting for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

The part number for the abs models is 358611019D which is 23.81mm. The smaller 22mm has a very similar part number so be sure to check if you come across one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Past Parts can refurbish yours for about £160 i think. I can't get mine out is the problem as I live too far from where my car is stored. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Join the club, I've been trying for months. Finally had one, and my Hermes lost it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Just spotted a red C in a hazard perception video I needed to take for work. It was the very first clip and I got so excited I clicked on it despite it obviously not being a hazard, probably wasn't the best move.

Brake master cylinder, VR6 gray cloth right hand bolster.
Daveproyoyoyo replied to Daveproyoyoyo's topic in Wanted
I would send off the one that's on my car but I currently live 200 miles away from where my car is stored. So when I get the time to do some work on it, I want to do the swap there and then, rather than have to just remove the current dead one to send of for refurbishment as it may be another 6 months before I get time to fit it. I just hope someone has a second hand one they can sell me soon! -
Brake master cylinder, VR6 gray cloth right hand bolster.
Daveproyoyoyo replied to Daveproyoyoyo's topic in Wanted
Just went back through the messages we sent and unfortunately it doesn't match, yours was ever so slightly patterned. It may well be off an earlier interior although I'm no expert. It's proving really hard to track this bolster down. I guess most people who could afford a VR6 probably didn't choose the nastiest, cheapest gray interior ever made like mine ;-) Either that or they have all worn through and there's no such thing as a good condition one. -
1) So my brake master cylinder died at the beginning of the year and now after a 6 month restoration my master cylinder is still dead and it's all that's left to do to get it through an MOT. Does anybody please have one in working condition???? 2) I've been trying for a year or so now to track down a late right hand VR6 gray cloth bolster in good condition. My car currently doesn't have one since it disintegrated. I'd even consider buying a whole seat just to get it. I believe the VR6 gray bolster material is all the same regardless of what pattern the seat centre and backs are. http://the-corrado.net/images/attach/jpg.gif

Hmmm it’s so hard to tell from that angle, I kind of don’t want to commit while it’s still relatively easy to get to them. The Eibach written is upside down fitted this way but I have since read that is correct but could have been changed. Useful lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I have fitted my Eibach fronts and I’m reasonably sure they are the correct way up, they are loosely a U shape with the lowest point being next to the exhaust in the middle but they seem to rub on the wishbones in the curved bit. There is a fleck of red paint that’s rubbed off where it touches. Anyone know what’s going on? Is it just that the car is up on jacks at the moment and I’m panicking. I am planning on replacing the rear beam this weekend and have a couple of questions. 1) I’d like to replace my flexi hoses with braided ones, as much so that they all match as give a performance increase. Do Goodridge make a set for the rear beam? 2) I’ve read that disturbing the mounting bracket will put out the alignment. If that happens, is it something a tyre fitters with laser alignment can do or is it more specialist? 3) planning on installing Eibach Arbs at the same Time. Does anyone know a walkthrough for this as Eibach were pretty lacking when it came to instructions. I’ve read that you must get it the correct way up and it’s not easy given that the writing may or may not be upside down... fun fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was looking for a late, I’ll look that up. Probably be more than I was looking at spending but definitely will check it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking for the 4 long bolts that go through the crossmember in the centre of the bush. Mine are rusted to nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I used them a few weeks ago for shot blasting and powder coating pretty much all the underpinnings of my car. They did a great job and did a less than 24 hour turn around. Their workshop was a bomb site and they had the most chaotic system for invoicing and pricing I've ever seen. I didn't see any wheels when I was there, lots of garden gates and bits of boats. Okay so a bit of an update. I have driven the car and the fault code came up with a failed wheel speed sensor which was replaced and now that code has gone but the problem remains and I'm at a loss. The symptoms are when driving normally the pedal randomly will go very firm so you have to absolutely stamp on the pedal, then whilst still stamping it seems to suddenly completely free up the pedal presses down normally but obviously quickly due to still stamping, then when you go to take your foot off the pedal and continuing driving, the brakes are seized on. If I turn the car off and on again the pedal frees up and the car will drive normally for a little while before the same problem happening again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I stupidly did very little research when I had my wheels refurbished the first time around and used Sweet Alloys as they were literally just around the corner from me. The work was so bad I can't believe they are still in business. I'll give you the highlights. 1) They didn't rub them down properly so some corrosion still showed through immediately afterwards. 2) They only did the face of the wheel, and only used 1 thin coat of a 1k laquer which you could peel with a finger nail. 3) I had wheel weights on the face of the wheel annoyingly. They didn't even remove them and just painted over them so when I had my tyres changed next, the laquer cracked and has peeled off mostly now. 4) They clearly didn't leave enough time to let the paint flash before the laquer went on so the result was micro-blistering and bubbles. 5) Cash up front only and didn't give a S*** when I wanted my money back at all. Said this is the service we provide and you should have known that before asking us to do the work. All in all the worst experience of workmanship and service I've ever experienced and now I won't ever get anyone to do anything without thorough research and questioning.
