I needed to remove the handbrake sleeve on my 16v today as the gaiter was missing. I googled how to remove the sleeve and couldn't really find a definitive guide with people saying they had broke the tab, forced it off etc., and various different methods (push tab up, push tab down etc.) This method worked for me with no scraped knuckles. Im not saying its right, I'm just saying it worked every time I tried it. Sorry if this is basic stuff, but hopefully it helps at least one person not to break their sleeve or graze their knuckles. Ive never done a guide before so go easy. The only tool you need is a flat blade stumpy screwdriver and maybe a rag to protect the sleeve when you apply pressure. 1. Under the handbrake sleeve towards the rear locate the small plastic pin that protrudes about 2-3mm 2. Use the flat blade screwdriver to push the pin backwards using the bump on the sleeve base for leverage. 3. Gently pull the sleeve forwards while maintaining pressure on the pin. Job done, no need to pull with any huge amount of force whatsoever. Ive had a look over my sleeve and it doesn't look like its been off before so I would imagine that using this method would work for all plastic sleeves (can't comment on leather). I have also read that you should actually be pushing the pin the opposite way to what I have shown but by trying this you have nothing to lever against. As said, this worked for me several times with no damage caused.

Is the black sensor high or low pressure? Are are these them in the pic below? Found this link on gsf, are these what I'm after? http://www.gsfcarparts.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Oil+pressure

I seem to be asking more questions than I expected on here but here goes again..... I can drive my 16v on motorways with no issues, but when the engine is hot and I get to 30mph areas the oil light flickers with no buzzer. I've checked the usual after looking on here at the other oil light questions but can't seem to find anything with a definitive answer. The oil level is healthy and has been recently changed using 10w 40 comma semi synthetic (not by me) and a filter that I haven't been able to identify (pic below). Any ideas to point me in the right direction? I would have thought if it was oil pressure then it would be low regardless of speed but hopefully the sites knowledge knows otherwise. Cheers as ever!

Apparently the system has already gone down with no one being able to tax their car online or over the phone this morning. I think its a bit cheeky that the DVLA are going to basically score a months tax everytime someone sells a taxed car halfway through a month. Stealth taxing at its very worst.

They could be Calibre Vintage

Im after either a good drivers seat with the pattern shown below or a set of grey front and rear seats with a different pattern but matching. Would consider leather if the price was right but not too fussed so not looking to pay mega money for the privilege. Prefer reasonably local to Durham or be willing to courier. Cheers

Picked this 16v up yesterday for the measly sum of £1070, it looks like it's had a big stereo in at some point and removed quickly, almost every interior panel looks like it has just been balanced back in and not securely fastened. It's on coil overs too and I don't know the brand but they don't seem very good and knock quite bad so they will be changed very soon. The car has obviously had a badly fitted bonnet bra on which has rubbed through a small area of paint. The car itself is solid, appears totally rust free and floors look good too, it's got 125k on the clock with full service up to 114k. Couple of little issues to sort but easy enough. Jobs to do: - Sort interior, new drivers seat or full interior (whatever turns up first). Refix all panels correctly. - Get rid of coil overs - Paint bonnet - Fix Electric mirrors - Change wheels - Poly bushes Doesn't need much, just a bit tlc.

£1.20 at GSF or £15 at VW. Thanks for the help mate.

Really appreciate it, cheers.

Do you know if they are 72mm? The one in GSF listed for my reg is a different part number (obviously I know the number you gave was VW)

My 16v central locking works fine from the passenger side but not from the drivers side. I've stripped down the door today and checked wiring, all looks okay. When I reconnected the pump and tried the lock for the drivers door it worked once (open and closed) then stopped working. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting again and exactly the same, works once then stops. Any ideas?

Yeah mines missing the sheath so I'll be getting a false oil level.

As a total newbie to Corrados I'm hoping this question isn't too daft. The oil light was flickering on the journey home yesterday at slow speeds, I've checked the oil level and it looks okay on the dipstick but the dipstick itself doesn't look right. Should there be a sleeve or collar between the dipstick and carrier? At the minute the dipstick kind of just rests on the sleeve rather than the snug fit I would expect. Cheers

Hi, thought I'd better introduce myself as I'm posting in the wanted and parts section. Just picked up a 94 16v tonight that's pretty solid just needs a bit tlc.

I'm after a front drivers seat (I'd consider a full interior) and a passenger side fog light to fit a 94 16v if you have any?
