  1. My cars been stood for 2 weeks and the battery went flat. When I've started it the indicators have decided to stop working. When I press the hazard button on the column the light on the button comes on and stays on but the indicators dont come on at all. Im assuming its a relay but just thought id ask here before i start changing things. Cheers
  2. Still looking, would consider other patterns.
  3. The coilovers on my 16v have had it and need replacing. Being close to Christmas im looking to keep costs down and want a new set but need to keep the spend sub £200. They dont have to be race spec or last forever (a year to 18 months would do), they just need to allow me to lower the car to the height I want and be reasonably comfortable and not knock their balls off. Ive used JOM Bluelines on my old Beetle V5 Sport and they were okay, ive also used FKs on a Golf Mk1 but just wondering what others have used.
  4. So how would you answer the question "Is this car yours Sir" when you get stopped for an unrelated issue on the way home? If you say yes, then are you incriminating yourself for driving without tax? Again, its a basic question that should have been given a black and white answer long before the system was changed. One policeman might be lenient, the other might choose to do you.
  5. That needs clearing up by the DVLA and police. But I would assume the second the car is sold then it isn't taxed and as such you are committing fraud by attempting to claim it's still taxed.
  6. Plus unless I'm mistaken you can save monthly for your tax for free without the DVLAs permission, it's called a savings or budget account.
  7. See how many of the peope promoting the new system complain when they realise they can no longer go and just see and buy a car and drive it away. As I've mentioned the MID can take days to update meaning you can't tax it as soon as you buy it unless you have insured it days in advance.
  8. If you sell now the only people that will benefit is the dvla. Only full months tax is refunded.
  9. My issue is sorted, minor flex in the handle was stopping the rod making its limit. Easy fix.
  10. I don't even know who Chris Harris is. TG isn't really a car show, its an entertainment show and would be rubbish without Clarkson.
  11. Does the conversion have to use Lupo GTI wipers or will normal Lupo wipers do the same thing?
  12. Hi mate, 3 of each number would be perfect. How much posted?
  13. Put right more problems caused by previous owners.
  14. Nice seats but can't justify £500 at the minute.
  15. whens this one due to broadcast?
  16. I haven't pulled the other lock yet so unfortunately I don't. Its just to do one lock so was hoping to just buy a mix and keep a few spares.
  17. I think theres one new on Goldies breaking thread.
  18. Im after a few of 1-4 numbered pins to resumable a barrel if anyone has any for sale? Consider full old barrels.
  19. Did this job today and although its fiddly its by no means difficult. Regarding the awkward grub screw, I used a slimline screwdriver to get into the rough area of the screw then used another screwdriver from underneath to bend the driver onto the screw head. When it came to replacing the grub screw I simply used the tiniest piece of blutac to hold the screw onto the switch, replaced the switch with the screw held in place then tightened using the same method as removal. No need to bodge it with zip ties, just basic tools and a bit of blutac stolen from the kids posters.
  20. Whats not been publicised as much is the trouble people are going to have when buying a second hand car. The MID (motor insurance database)can take a few days to update, so how are you supposed to tax a car you have just viewed and bought to enable you to drive it home?
  21. I've just had this issue and sorted it easier than I thought. Take off the door card and push down on the rod to the pump, if that works fine every time then it's more than likely just an issue that the pump isn't being fully engaged every time. My issue was just that the door handle hadn't been fitted very well and flexed upwards slightly meaning the rod wasn't making the limit for the pump but still opening the door individually.
  22. Cheers, ill have a bash at that and get rid of this crappy push button starter.
  23. Its the switch i have the problem with, cheers.
  24. Can the ignition switch and barrel be removed from the whole assembly or does the whole thing including the casting come as one unit?
