  2. Hi mate, good to see someone close by. Had a bit of a mare recently with the rado but fingers crossed its the last of the woes. Previous owners that dont know what they are doing and bodge everything really grips my ****!! will look our for you on my travels
  3. Now a fully fledged subscriber! Thanks to all
  4. I'd just like to give a big shout out to VEEDUBBED. This guy is a true legend in the world of vdubs. Not only has he got the item i was searching for, he has sent it free of charge with other bits and bobs (only little things but things that will make a big difference to me at these times of corrado woes!) Give and you shall receive comes to mind so on behalf of this great guy i would like to donate to the forum to show my appreciation. Could somebody point me in the direction to donate please. Regards Steve
  5. Hi, Was this for sale in derby last year? If so I just missed out on purchasing it,lol
  6. Just out of interest how much did these sell for? looking for a set myself but too late on these.
  7. So here we go again! This car will be brand new in a couple of weeks with the rate I'm going! Had a mad weekend replacing gaskets, cleaning, servicing, and kr cam swap. Did the whole lot! New oil and filters. Timed it up correctly and got it running sweet as a nut. Noticed today some oil on the floor after only been parked for an hour or so. Decided to investigate. Jacked it up and oil looks like it ****ed all over the underneath. I can't really see where it's coming from but there is a lot of oil around the crank pulley which In turn looks to have gone on cambelt. Not too bad but it look to be that area. Other side of block seems dry. The problem side has oil all over the wishbone where it's ****ed out while driving. So I fired her up to see if anything obvious was leaking and that's when I noticed the rumbling. No sign of oil leaking anywhere. Crankshaft seal maybe? And could the rumbling be the main bearings and would the oil change have done anything drastic? Ever since I've done the "tune up" it seems as though it's "****ed up". I wonder if they had a thicker oil in before or I've just got really bad luck by trying to care for my car. If this carries on I'm going back yo my mk2 golf!
  8. Hi, Interested in the late spec heater controls and the ignition leads (9a). What's the issue with the heater controls? Are they repairable? Mine doesn't work on No.4 so will keep as spare. How much for both posted? Regards Steve
  9. Hi all, I discovered at the weekend when i was doing my KR cam swap that the intermittent fan clicking in and out was down to the brown and white earth touching the body and basically flopping about causing the fan to do crazy things. the fan run switch situated on the rocker cover LHS has broken its spade connection. Does anyone know if i can hold of one of these? P/N 191 919 521 D Thanks in advance Steve
  10. Good buy mate! I've been contemplating buying them all day. You've saved me an ear bashing from the Mrs!
  11. Cheers pal for the info. Got my head in the Bentley schematics so hopefully will get my head around the wiring!
  12. Glad to see someone has experienced the same issue. Would it be a relay on the main fuse board or the FCU that had the short? Funny thing is that today i went out with a pal to show him the problem. It was cold, i started it then switched off, fan kicked in, ignition on it went off. took it for a blast and got up to temp, switched it off....and no fan kicked in?? so when its cold the fan comes on and when its warm it doesnt. At the minute i just have to chuckle about it. Very strange indeed. If you could get the details of relay etc then that would be great then i will have a scout for any shorts. Cheers Steve
  13. This is whats confusing me. i have a 2.0 16v KE-MO and the sticky thread is for VR6. Will mine fall into the same category and is it suppose to run for 10 min after engine switch off like it states on the sticky? think i will just stick with it until my battery starts playing up.
  14. This is a pretty good deal. Shame i promised myself not to spend anything yet. Why oh why!!
  15. I'm thinking it's the fan control unit. I've read the cooling sticky for vr6 and it states they run for 10 min after even when cold. I believe I do have an issue somewhere and if your quote is correct I would like to start there wherever it is. Might crack the Bentley book out and read up on some schematics. Oh the fun!
  16. This is driving me mad! I've had issues with cooling recently to which I thought I'd solved by buying all new bits (another thread). I went to put my car up the drive (literally) 2 seconds and when I turned engine off the fan kicked in? Switch ignition on it goes off and so on?? What the hell is going on? It's really ****ing me off now because it's one thing after another! Today I found that the previous owner had bodged the plastic water flange from top rad hose to head. WHY?? It's only £2 to buy one!! And caused me so much grief to sort as it went while at work and had no other means of getting my tools and part etc etc. so to whoever did the bodge your an arse and don't deserve a DUB! End of rant, lol. So if someone can point out what is going on with the fan then I'd be most grateful. To add, I've replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat and 87 degree radiator fan switch. Could this be the relay under the expansion bottle? Also the fan kicks in when at temp so that's all good. I'm worried it's going to kill my battery! Also it's a 92 2.0 16v Cheers
  17. Hi, If nobody has bought the N/S passenger headlight and the KR cams then I will take them for definite. PM total price posted and I will pay straight away. Cheers. Steve
  18. I was going to go for a vw one but decided just to get all from euro car parts. It was only £11 so in case it wasn't that I had not spent a fortune. It will state in the spec on euro (coz there is a few) that it kicks in at 86 degrees (and will be stamped on the switch) which it did and the thermostat is 98 I think. It's all working good now and for the sake of £72 and a few scuffed knuckles for all the above then it was well worth it.
  19. So just an update. All new bits fitted today (radiator, water pump, thermostat & fan switch) and boy was it a byatch! On the mk2 golf it would have taken me no more than 2 hours start to finish if that! Let's just say it was a little longer! Not sure why, must be the million more bolts to undo than the mk2. Anyway all is looking good. Ran up to temp, fan kicked in at 86. Oil was good. Took it for a short blast and it behaved itself. Water sat around 75 and oil didn't go over 100 so happy with that. Need to look more closely at the fan kicking in after engine stop and whether it's kicking in after half hour stood. The erratic ticking and fan coming on and off has stopped so that's good. While under the car I noticed no oil or water leaks at all and it all looks very clean underneath so I am chuffed at that seeing as it's done nearly 180k! Anybody have any issues with rocker gasket leaks? Seen a couple 2.0 16v now with leaky heads around gasket.
  20. So the fun begins already after owning my new dub for just 2 week! Not bad really, lol. I decided to treat her to a service and do the odd bit if tinkering. So after the service I decided to change the coolant as it looked a bit murky, not brown but just dirty. I drained the coolant and flushed it out. Nothing sludgy or out of tge ordinary. Topped her up with premixed coolant and noticed it didn't take much to fill? I turned her over to get rid of any air locks. Got up to temp really quick so I left it to settle hoping all air was out and topped up a little more. I left it for a good couple of hours then checked level.. All good. Took her for a spin around 5 mile and the temp was way up over 100 and blowing cold air! More worrying the oil was at 120! Parked up and left it thinking the head gasket was a gonna....but why would it? The other thing I noticed was the heater/fan relay going mental ticking away when the car was off even 1 hour after switching off. I could only think there was a blockage before the pump causing an air lock and messing with thermostat. I checked the reservoir and level was good but while shining the torch down I noticed gold flecks....rad seal! Decided to take no risks and ordered a new radiator, thermostat, water pump and fan switch. Collected today to fit tomorrow but the funny thing is is that she didn't play up at all today. Sat at about 75-80 and oil went no higher than 96? But I sat in a little bit if traffic and it starts to climb again with no sign of the fan kicking in which also reminds me that when the fan was clicking in without the ignition on and then when I put ignition on the fan would cut out. Very strange indeed. I'll update tomorrow after tinker time.
  21. Tell me about it! im lucky enough to have purchased a special brush to clean them with to which my 3 year old enjoys using, lol. Diamond polished Borbet B's too so i take extra care with them. Hopefully going to pick some new bits for the corrado tonight and then try hide them from the mrs!!
