Hello all! I work away from home a lot and finally I'm getting some leave in May and have just ordered some Borbet A alloys for the 16v! I can't wait to get them on but am wondering which tyres everyone recommends. The specs of the alloys are below 16" Borbet A (Hexagonal Cap) - Silver with Polished Rim 2x (16 x 7.5" 4x100 ET20) 2x 16" Borbet A (Hexagonal Cap) - Silver with Polished Rim (16 x 9.0" 4x100 ET15) Probably 8" on the back and looking for a bit of stretch (not much) What's the thoughts? Any info greatly appreciated!

Hey Everyone! So an update on the problem. Put some K-seal in and seemed ok for a few days but then it all went to **** again! I took it to a recommended VW garage JR Volkswagen in Paisley. The guy was totally awesome and I told him the problem and all the thoughts and opinions you guys shared and my suspicion of a head gasket. Turns out that was the problem so its been skimmed and fitted and everything seems ok. I haven't got the Corrado back yet as I'm getting the manual fan with on the dash changed back to automatic but hopefully she will be home safe and sound next week! Can't thank you all enough for the thoughts and opinions and I'm so glad she is still running.

Just had my gasket skimmed there. Coolant system was pressurising and I was loosing all my coolant so engine was overheating. Didn't want to leave it much longer or do any more damage by driving it so took it to a vw specialist that was recommended on here and had it all checked out. Now it has been skimmed and re fitted and seems fine :)

Hey! So glad to hear of some more Scottish activity on the Corrado front. Get some pics up and keep us informed. I'm riding my '91 16v up in Gourock. If you're ever passing through give us a pamp!

I have a set of black BBS ones I can put on but I think it would suit silver better and I think thats what I would prefer. Another option is to the get the original alloys that are on it refurbished and just keep running on them. Then I'll sort out the paintwork and get all the dings and scratches out and she will be looking awesome! Any thoughts on the alloy situation. Theres another Corrado close to home running on original 5 spoke vw alloys which I actually really like too. Thanks again everyone! Totally loving the Corrado community! Good vibes people, good vibes :)

Hi All! So as with other cars I've had I've looked to the classic Haynes manuals for guidance through my DIY stages. Alas the Haynes Corrado manual seems to be non existent :( As I'm a newbie to corrodes and am not a mechanic I'm looking for a really good one that covers the car inside out. Not that I don't love using the forum but it would just be nice to have a quick and handy reference I can go to when needed. I was searching online and came across this e-manual https://www.emanualonline.com/checkout.php Has anyone used these guys before and do you think it's a good buy? Or can anyone recommend another manual I can use thats decent? Thank you :D

This is a great post guys and thanks for all the input and experience with the looms from everyone. I'm having the same sort of problem. My dipped headlights are so dim I've been having to put the fogs on and sometimes they just come on brighter when I'm driving around and sometimes they don't. Sometimes I can fiddle with the switch a little and they come on which made me think it might be the contact pads. The last owner oft he car told me he had upgraded the headlight with some sort of relay system but the dishonestly of the seller makes me dubious to believe what he has done. Anyway, I'm going to check out the contact pads first but more than likely I'll be purchasing a loom soon. I have every intention of upgrading the bulbs too. I was also a little concerned about someone needing to upgrade to a 20amp but it seems like this is a one off? I'll be in touch about the loom!

Science, done that and the temp on the engine seems to be holding so far! So keeping my fingers crossed for that. Going to run some other checks that people have mentioned just to see if I can find out more.

Dox, owner didn't say why it was bypassed to manual fan switch, he said it was done by previous owner but he never had any trouble with it. That's why I put it in the garage to check it out and see if it was ok but I'll say what the VW specialist garage says.

Ok no problem I'll keep you all updated with the goings on :D

Thanks so much for the information everyone. Sounds like the car is definitely saveable and I think I'll take it to a vw specialist! Don't think they've done a compression test on the cylinders. I'll tell them what checks I want them to do also. Really appreciate the responses everyone!

Wullie! sounds great, I'm based in Gourock so that's not too far. I need to get the brakes fixed before I drive it anywhere but maybe I'll take it up there! I really want to keep her on the road! They're not sure what it is but I'm just getting the feeling he doesn't really want to go down that road and has good intentions at heart.

its got a blue one, it just got replaced not too long ago. Ok, thanks for the info and I'll let them know what you think. Really appreciate it :)

well the gasket was replace around three years ago and they just said the telltale signs aren't there for it to be the gasket. They said they could replace it but honestly don't think it's going to solve the problem :(
