1994 VR6 Corrado "Candy White" Well, Its time... This is probably the hardest decision I ever made, as I just moved house - a downgrade to save on rent to save towards a deposit for a home - and having sold my beloved near-MINT 1989 Honda Prelude 2 weeks earlier :( Reason for sale: I had sold my daily car last year, and needed something to enjoy before I throw in the towel of classic car ownership - the Mk2 GTi 8v it was! I lost out on the Golf bid, and in desperation for a daily car I went to see the white 1994 VR6 Corrado which I discounted before as too pricey at ?2500... On arriving, the car looks even better in the metal but, on closer inspection not as good shape as in the pics (more surface rust, too many paint touch ups, rear lights not as good condition, many superficial downsides). But boy The saying is spot on "once bitten twice shy!" Or "once driven, forget about everything else!" The test drive was faultless! All manner of driving, gears, speed, hills - the Corrado delivered it all and more! :) Thats it - SOLD at the asking price!!! Well U know the rest is history... The stalling, the ?1000 garage bill, the leaky sunroof, the...ok, please find all in my thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?89983-White-VR6-in-Windy-Yorkshire!-) Ok From what I gather from the last owner and my ownership here s a run down on my C: 1. 1994 VR6 Corrado 2. Candy White 3. 126,109 miles (will go up) 4. New MOT yesterday: Expires on 11th, June 2016 - one advisory (nail in tyre) 5. Major service Feb15: DIY one by myself and ever grateful to Chris (vaghag) - sparks, aux belt, gear oil, PS oil, discs + pads 6. Service History: - 1st Owner: Lease Car - 2 years VW Service Plan (upto Mar96: 70,169m) - 2nd Owner (wife of 1st owner): Combination of VW And VW Specialist (upto Sep01: 105,818) - AFTER 10 years in storage ... - 3rd Owner (VR6OC member): Independent Service (Mar13: 123,661) New ?400 coil pack fitted - me: VW Specialist + Independent (Jun15: 126,109) - new Hella radiator, new VW sump, new Slave cylinder, new VW Master cylinder, new catalytic converter I have tried to be as honest as possible. Anything I have missed or more details required will be in my C s thread. I most welcome inspection and test drives (subject to license + insurance checks) Thanks all for viewing my ad I will now go and cry in my little dark corner ... Cheers bud But no rash decision The C was always a temp car - just somewhere along the way I couldnt let go of it (from the day I test drove it!) From day 1, it was a fight with "stick with the plan, Wayne" to me "buying every possible simple upgrade" and even as far as "a mini remap with Vince&co" - until garage bills started to add up and torpedo'd that ... Dont worry No plans to buy another C until 3-5 years time AFTER I secure a home 1st!
-
Its decided ... Selling my C... Will be putting an ad onto Panjo later on ... Just a case of how much to sell for? I will lose £1000s - but I think with my new circumstances its for the best ...
-
Cheers Ray Funny that ref decat pipe... We leaving garage and the garage staff runs after us with the decat pipe: "U can sell this decat pipe, its a a tag number on it too...", Ok! I thought
-
If I remember right - they said they had trouble sourcing so got it from VW instead ...
-
My observations: 1. Clutch too high now :( 2. Biting point not as solid 3. Noise much less throaty 4. Performance the same though :thumbleft:
-
The garage bill: My mistake: Master Cylinder changed (not clutch) My C was de-cat!!! So its got a new cat now... Old de-cat pipe:
-
Well My 9 year old adores the C esp the sound... He summed it up 110% ... ..."Dad, Its too quiet.....I dont like it ..."
-
Garage just rung! She s fixed! Phew! :thumbleft: Nothingelse gone wrong  Will pick up and give her a good blast on bypass and see... Loved the old clutch biting point (low and I never once stalled! ) Wonder what the new setup is like
-
-
Just in case there is more problems today when C supposed to be fixed... I am bracing myself with this now ..
-
Cheers Mark Keeping it as weekend toy not an option now :( As no garage nor drive
-
Cheers bud I agree - cost just spirals out of control... 1. Hour rate : £42/hr 2. MOT: discounted £20 (free retest) Think its mainly the labour that adds up due to brake fluid change, brake pipes, clutch, cat ...

Cheers Andy I was shocked myself Not having vagcom is understandable - but not plugged into the OBD2??? I was going to offer them my cheap eBay OBD scanner! Hopefully the guy is a junior dosent know what he is on about and not the same guy doing the work! I just have to pray that : 1. Their fault finding is spot on 2. Their repair work top notch 3. And my C is fixed with NO NEW issues created! (Wayne goes to church ...)
-
Update: Just rung garage ... 1. They do not have VagCom 2. They did diagnostics and nothing came up ref lambda sensors 3. They not plug into OBD2 port yet  Just to explain why I take my C to this garage: 1. The Corrado specialist garage is far far too busy and more expensive 2. Ref my own garage, the RAC said "i wouldnt leave ANY car overnight in that area!" 3. It was almost 11pm, had kids with me and we missed dinner (was enroute to dinner at 8pm) and we spent all day cleaning our old house (after moving house) - so decided to drop C off at a local garage which seems reputable... 4. Plus having sold my 2nd car (1989 Honda Prelude) literally a week earlier - I have no car to fall back on :( The current garage bill now stands just shy of: £700 ...

G Totally agree, Sean. And thanks
