Mate of mine has a 20vT Corrado running on DTA, ,mapped by Vince at stealth. There are absolutely no cold start problems at all. Cars runs sweet whether cold or hot. No cold start valves or anything like that. ECU should control the cold start. :) Might be best to take a trip to Vince and have him throw his eye over it, You could be forever trying sensors and vacum lines whereas with a few minutes on the rollers plugged into the laptop he will be able to tell if there is a sensor not doing what it should and fix it or if there is a problem elsewhere in the ECU with the map!!!!

Have you checked the core/frost plugs?? Hada similar problem on my G60. Coolant dripping from the back of the engine bay, One of the plugs was leaking. When I had the engine out shortly after replaced them all. It had just corroded away and a tiny pin hole was in it, enough to let it leak though. Easy to replace with engine out, a little harder to replace them in car but very cheap to buy.

Am trying to remember now. I think its .60 possibly with .48 exhaust. I think I have the specs at home somewhere, will check it out. There is so much more room with the inlet manifold gone now and turbo should be getting much more airflow in at it to help reduce heat levels. Access to everything is much better with the crossflow also.

Garrett T3. Will be approx 20-22psi.

Just finishing off a xflow turbo at the min. Should have bhp and torque figures to compare in a few weeks. Engine is built, just sorting pipework and few small bits and then mapping.
-
No, I think the valves are sodium filled in a G60 head to cope with the extra heat, someone may confirm this though whereas 8v ones arent. Possibly larger coolant channels but am not sure on that.

Hi, I have the head that Geo mentioned above. Its rebuilt with new guides, followers and seals less that 5000 miles ago. It currently has a schrick 268 cam fitted but I may now need to keep that. I will know in the next day or so but the head is still for sale anyway. It has been midly ported and polished and I have receipts for all the work carried out to it. Let me know if you are interested by pm or whatever. Its currently in Dublin Ireland but postage isnt a problem.

Sweet, if I make it this year, might get a run against you. Though knowing my past track record something will break just before it!!   Hopefully mate? Not sure what i want from it really, i know its never gonna do the 1/4 record just want respectable times. If it did the 13's is that respectable and iv never done it before. Yep, I do believe 13's is a very respectable time. Would love to crack into the 13's myself. @_leon_ we are a rare enough breed alright   . All depends on what you want from your engine really. You can get nice power figures with the supercharger on a G60 engine, but you have to spend $$'s to get it too.

Not as yet up the 1/4 but hoping to make 1 of the santa pod days in april all depends on money as i go away wknd before the 1st and just come back on the other i think. Bearing in mind i have a weight penalty of carrying a 12"sub and 2 huge amps plus loads of dynamat but its still should give respectable times. Kills most imprezas only 1 has got me and that was stupidly quick must av been around 400bhp guessing. They all try but they are proper gutted when they cant get in front. Kept side by side with an evo fq-340. Cossies easy, porsches dont try when i see them they just think i dont need to seen as though mine looks pretty standard. Various others but cant really remember them all. Not saying its the quickest car i know people have beter but for most stuff out there it can be quicker than, and keeps up with a lot of more exotic cars. Now thats what I am talking about!! Even with your extra weight of the sound system thats pretty impressive, even more so with a standard box and diff. Cant put a price on my gearbox as I got it as part of a deal and swapped my original with diff as well. The diff will set you back about £600 I think, I know mine was about €900 before fitting which equates to about £600. Trust me, if you can afford to get the diff at some stage go for it, you will never look back. I let a friend drive my car last year and he himself has a mk2 16v Turbo and also a mk1 G60, neither of which had diffs, he went out and got diff's for both after driving it as did his brother for his corrado!!! @the other Leon   Suspension wise, I have FK konigsport coilovers, polybushes all round, eibach anti roll bars, front and rear strut braces and A full 6 point Weichers sport roll cage. @IHI G60, are you planning on going to Inters this year. Hoping to be there myself, like you I havent sprinted the car yet.

I had a 2.0 16v corrado box with Quaife Diff in it up until recently, Ratios were fairly short and it was fairly quick through gears. I now have a Gemini short ratio 6 speed with Quaife diff  8) Havent had a chance to give it a proper hard run before taking it off the road but with the driving I did it felt nice.

By any chance have you had it up a 1/4 mile strip yet?? Would be interested to see what times it could manage. Or been side by side with anything else on that test track of yours??

Lag isnt bad at all. It used to make peak toraue at 5250 rpm. The last time it was on the rollers it was 215bhp and 245 lb ft and that torque was a 5250. I hope I havent ruined that with these mods as it pulled very hard from low down. I think my boost controller is Blitz. Did you notice much difference with the water injection or was it already on before you turbo'd. I noticed mine was fairly hot with the turbo right under the inlet and the reason I got the water injection but never got round to fitting it before going crossflow. Hope to be getting mapped by end of April so will have bhp figures for you then. Am really just waiting on rods to arrive and head to come back. All the other components are ready and waiting.
-
Thats a relief, Fingers crossed they will be up to the job. WHen I had the car mapped at Emerald Dave Walker tested the injectors and I am pretty sure he mentioned a figure of around 290 bhp at 80%, thats what had me worried. I have the head off my car at the moment to fit the rods, Am fitting a crossflow as soon as it comes back from the machine shop as well so will be interesting to see what 1.5 bar or more can produce with that set up. Have Emerald management and water injection to keep it all cool and also a 2 stage boost controller as you mentioned above so am itching to get it back together and over to be mapped.
-
They are green, but a different green to the standard G60 ones. They are suppossed to be the next one up from the red tops.
-
Yeh, Am fitting steel rods myself at the moment, Have forged pistons already so the bottom end should be up to it. Are your injectors under any strain as it is now?? I have 42lb injectors, not sure what the CC rating of them is but am a little concerned they wont be up to 1.5 bar spec.
-
Am in the middle of a lot of mods on mine at the moment and will be running that boost when complete and am hoping for a nice bhp increase  What injectors do you currently have in your car? also What additional changes are you going to make to run 30psi??
-
Have a Garrett T3 conversion on a G60 lump in my mk2 golf. Made 215bhp @12psi last time on the rollers. What boost is yours running to make 309bhp??
-
Spring rates is usually the only difference between them.

It is possible to use the 16v calipers but not ideal at all. You can either machine the caliper to take the disc and pads or you can just change one pad at a time and when it wears a bit replace the other side. Or as mentioned get the pads skimmed by 1mm each when new. Definitely far from ideal and I wouldnt use it myself. G60 calipers and carriers arent dear these days anyway. Loads of them now running around on Brembos so should be easy to pick up.

G60 X-flow - Anyone completed one of these yet ?
leon replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Engine Bay
A 16vG60 Altenator set up places the altenator at the back on the head which is generally not possible in a RHD car. Presume you mean locate the altenator below the GLader. Even with the crossflow and a G Lader it can be made neat if you put the effort in. For example, Momentum Tunings twin G60 Crossflow still looks neat and they managed to cram 2 G60 chargers in with a crossflow head. -

I dont think crossflow setups look messy just because they are a crossflow. Any engine bay will be as neat or as messy as the builder/owner allows it to be. If you put enough effort/money into what you are doing and spend a bit of time at it you can make them look neat. -
Mark, Dave got my stainless pipework made up for me and has something like what you are after on his mk1 G60 with a cut out for the C0 pot. He might be able to send you in the right direction.
-
Mark get yourself some of the heavy duty jubilee type clips from somewhere like Demon Tweeks. I think they are called Mikalor clamps (the brand anyway). The are about the same width as 2 jubilee clips and have a large bolt going through them to clamp. They are a few quid each but you will only need a few and it should sort you out. BTW A lip on the end of the pipe is the ideal solution but with these all you have to do is pick up the phone and then wait a few days, tighten up and away you go.

There is a big thread above on this and a group buy on water injection kits. Check it out there!!
