marc c replied to martyjmcfly's topic in Suppliers Forum
You could try http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk/ Ive used them a couple of times and they are pretty good -
Try G W Bridges at pease pottage for a tailgate glass as there were a couple of estates in there yesterday Ive got a 1990 35i working sunroof mechanism ie no metal roof panel or a working 1995 moonroof complete if you interested Cheers Marc

Ive fitted vr6 suspension to my 16v using the early type top mounts so there shouldnt be a problem using later top mounts on a early car . You need to use a pre 95 top spring plate which i dont have a part no for and 2 of each of the following 357412331a mounting 1ho412365a bush 1jo412249 bearing With the spring plates it should cost you about £50 from the stealers Hope this helps Marc

Well my H&R springs had mk3 golf vr6 stamped all over them but in the tuv approval leaflet it also said suitable for passat and corrado vr6 and they were sold to me as corrado springs
-
Yep thats the bit Thanks very much for that Marc
-
Please could someone with etka look up the part no for the foam gasket that goes around the door check strap on the a post Thanks Marc
-
Sorry i probabaly didnt explain that quite right as i know it wouldnt look right with out the cover what i meant was use my mechanism but use the glass and cover etc fom the passat one ie headlining down again etc
-
Cheers for the reply i did think about doing that or enlarging the holes but felt that it could lead to the glass sunroof causing more prblems than its worth. Im fairly happy that my rebuit mechanism works it just would have been nice to have the glass roof. I suppose i could take it all out again and fit the glass panel to my mechanim as its not as bad a job as people would have you belive.

If its from a late mk2 golf 1988 onwards then it should fit as they are the same size as corrados

Ive just tried to fit one from a 95 passat estate into mine and the bolt holes wouldnt line up 100% at the front of the roof they were a good 3mm out The bolt holes seemed to be sitting to far back even though the locating pegs were fine I tried for about an hour to get them aligned but wasnt happy so fitted my original rebuilt mechanism I wondered if this was because the frame was misdrilled or more of a lack of tolerance at karmann Has anyone else had this problem when fitting a passat roof Cheers Marc

Finally fixed my sunroof and hopefully cured the water leak from the fresh air intake

Try and steam clean not pressure wash the front bumper to lift all the old paint off because youll just end up with the new paint on top of the old paint that isnt adhered to the bumper

Id use 600 wet and dry [wet] to start with going down to 800 [wet] As for the chips and rust somethig like 180 or 240 hi build prime the areas guide coat and then 600 then the 800 and finally all over with a scotch brite and flatting paste. To prep them to a good standard takes time and is sometimes best left to the bodyshop as you can do more harm than good Hope i havent put you off and that this helps Marc

Help!! Will one of these fit into a VR6 Rado?
marc c replied to stingman123's topic in General Car Chat

Try looking on http://www.tunershop.co.uk

Its probably more to do with the fact that the rear 1/4 has been replaced as a bodyshop fitted one will never be as well sealed as a production line one. All i can suggest is once its dry to absolutely flood it with waxoyl until it comes out of the seams to prevent further water ingress
-
Yes where did you get them Scott
-
2 clamps at £10 on a £27 exhaust just seemed rather excessive to me especially when they would probably outlive both the car and the exhaust
-
If you mean the front silencer between the cat and the middle box Then try vw its part no 191253209 and is £27 plus vat or it was back in May when i bought mine but dont buy the clamps from vw as they wanted £10 each and i got both for £1.26
