  1. The gearknob isn't cheap as I can only find it from the Greek lad on eBay so it's £60 but try VW as I got my last one from them for my Golf Mk1 Sport-line for £45. The gaiter is from Top Gaiters and incl the handbrake cover its £30 iirc http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/351001406362 There are a lot cheaper ones but I'm happy with there quality in my previous cars.
  2. Quickly popped the new gearstick gaiter and new original gearknob on the car. The gearknob makes a massive difference and the new gaiter and handbrake cover are also decent.
  3. More wee things have arrived. Bonnet prop catch, new original gearknob with gearstick gaiter and pedal rubbers.
  4. Thanks a lot. I've heard good things about them and think I will go down that route.
  5. Thinking about doing the full brake system through the winter, not that they need done. Need to get the bodyshop estimate first though. I was thinking brembo discs and pads all round, red goodridge hoses and either send my 4 calipers away to bigred or buy new rears and paint them up myself ??
  6. Thanks and good old eBay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/391080750422
  7. Just all the wee things so far. That's the new wheel bolts and VW caps fitted, clear side indicators with diadem bulbs, all round wipers and leather handbrake cover fitted. Unsure of the leather handbrake cover but I will see when the gearstick gaiter is in.
  8. Lovely Golf in the best colour imo. I have a GTD mk7 lowered with 19s and they look great with the right wheels and colour :thumbleft:
  9. My buddy says not to get it and just to strip the door and check what's going on first. Sorry for any inconvenience caused but I'm new to the Corrados and trying to learn fast. Thanks
  10. Thanks for checking. I will speak to my handy mate to make sure he thinks it is the regulator before buying it.
  11. All the wee things matter so bought the rear wiper plastic cover for when I refurb the arm later.
  12. Hi if it's all working I will take this if you will post ? My pass window only goes down half way so I'm presuming it will be this that needs replaced ??
  13. I have signed up as well. Bit of a journey from Edinburgh and Im on holiday until the Saturday up the North of Scotland, so need to put my thinking cap on at the time.
  14. Thanks. The series 1 I've just sold and is heading up to Inverness on Sunday. It's a 1980 series 1 in concours condition with 32k on the clock. It won Best in Show at Volksfling this year and 2 other shows for me in 2015. I fancied moving away from mk1's and try another car from my younger days.
  15. Thanks for the warm welcome to this site so I thought I better start my wee thread. The car is an original storm grey VR6 with 4 owners, 93k and fsh. It's a great condition car IMO and I aim to let it evolve into the best I can make it without spooling it. I have done 4 mk1 Golfs before this and they turned out pretty decent. I'm no mechanic unfortunately and I will be asking for a lot of advice along the way. The car has just had a Bistein B12 kit fitted with new top mounts, bump stops and Spring caps. It has the origin warning triangle and first aid kit. The wheels are recently refurbed with good tyres. I've removed the locking bolts and fitted new VW bolt covers. New wipers front and rear ordered. The bad points are - Rust blister under rear screen seal and possibly one on the side skirt behind drivers side front wheel. 5 or 6 wee car park dings and the usual chips and swirls. That will be the first thing to sort out. The other things are the heater direction does not turn and the passenger window only goes down half way. I have already ordered a new OEM gear knob also a new gearstick gaiter and handbrake leather cover. Clear indicators and diadem silver bulbs. So paint to sort, electrical glitches to be sorted and then nicer things. Wiper arms powder coated or painted. Calipers refurbed and painted red with new braided hoses, discs and pads. Poss new alarm and head unit with speakers.
  16. You will get there  I was so niave when I bought my Sportline and although I'm not mechanically minded it's amazing how many things I managed to do. It was or still is a peach of an original car. I'm a grafter and will make the VR6 into a great car that will be cherished but used
  17. So I've got 2 bodyshops lined up to take the car to for the dings and blisters. It's such a shame as the 2 blisters are so small but I hate leaving things. I was thinking about s different alarm as the current alarm is fine but a pain. I ordered a genuine new VW Corrado gear knob and from TopGaiters a new gearstick gaiter and handbrake full gaiter, I used them on my Sportline and there quality was excellent.
  18. Thanks fit threats welcome and the grey is a wicked colour for the car
  19. Thanks gents. Called the bodyshop so hope to pop on soon to get his view on the 2 wee blisters.
  20. Too bright and sunny for pics, can't say that too often in Scotland Never touched under the bonnet yet as shattered as also cleaned my new lowered GTD
  21. Thanks a lot I just spent most of the day doing my usual clean down, like on the underside of the doors where the weep holes are, all the door shuts, boot shuts full car. Removed locking wheel bolts and put VW bolt caps on the wheels bolts. Full inside clean down and Hoover, seats cleaned and all window stickers and tax holder removed. List of to dos - Bodyshops for price for blister under rear screen seal and tiny one on front side skirt also removal of 5 car park dings. Ordered clear side indicators with diadem silver bulbs. Passenger electric window fixed. Heater direction fixed. Full paint correction by my detailer. All arches cleaned down and waxed Engine bay detail ?? Then need to get wish list - Replace all discs and pads Larger retrim Paint myself or send away for full caliper rebuild and pro paint. Change alarm system to something easier and more modern. New head unit Wheels
  22. Couple of pics from the current owner after washing this morning
  23. http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=projects%2Fyour-mk1-golfs_2%2Fmassbad69-s-sportline&kfs79=300&keep_mobile=0
  24. Plans will be get the wee bits all sorted then who knows. My Sportline had a 50 page thread over 5 yrs and this may be the same. I just need to learn about the car more. Poss wheels, intetior retrim, clear lights, brakes etc but still looking stock as I never ruin cars.
