Confused?? I hope not as confused as me.. thanx

something wierd happened today. as I was driving, my rev needle started dancing up and down, even when i stopped. It was fluctuating from about 200 to 2000, until it eventually died out. There I was stuck in traffic thinking that it would start up when the key was turned, well guess what, yep...it wouldn't start up. I pushed it to the side and let it cool for about ten minutes, it started up but only went about another 200 yards till it happened again. Anybody have any idea as to what it might be? thanks

Tekera, My Corrado had similar problems, bleeding didn't sort mine out. Eventually turned out that my Brake Master Cylinder needed changing. Bought one from GSF for around £35 and now works perfect!! as for the clutch, i have no idea. As for the steering, mine does that too, check to see if u got the original green stuff as opposed to the red fluid, i'll be changing mine soon.

excellent, mine too whines, just as described. Betta get me some VAG fluid then. Hope it works for me :|

Thanx roger, I'll be getting that from the dealers tomorrow. I have an appointment at the garage on friday to get my tracking and camber settings sorted, I'll just get them to replace the power steering belt and fluid. Thanx again

I got a 1.8 16V and I only get 200-250 from a full tank. The only mods I have is a drilled airbox with k&n filter. Oh and thats driving around central london, but I still think its drinkin too much

The fluid in the resrvoir is red and its not noisy in the straight ahead position only when the the wheels turn either way, even if turned just a little. I guess I'll start by flushing the red stuff and pouring in the green stuff then. Can I get the green stuff from any auto store, if so whats it called? also, is flushing a simple job or will I have to take it to a garage? May thanx

Thanks Roger, Found it, the noise is definaely coming from around that area. Will get the belt replaced/tensioned, if this doesn't sort it then I guess I'll consider the pump.
-
Thanks for the replies guys. I think that there definately is a problem because I have to use both arms to steer the car, moreover, the whining noise doen't sound too healthy, sounds like something being stretched and about to snap. Anyways I'll start by checking the belt, anyone know exactly whereabouts it's hidden?

I have a 16V C and my power steering seems to be power-less. The steering is very stiff compared to my old BMW E36. Is it supposed to be so stiff? also when the steering wheel turns either way, there is a buzzing noise coming from the wheels, sort of like an electric radio controlled car but much louder. I have checked the fluid level in the power steering reservoir, it seems to be up to level. Anyone have any suspisions as to what might be th cause?

Hi, heres the situation. I have an early type Corrado with late door cards. The electric mirror plug does not fit into the switch (ie the plug is flat shaped compared to the late type). Does anybody know how I could wire up my mirrors? which wire goes to which terminal on the switch? If I can't do this then I may have to cut a hole on the door card and fit the big ugly (in my opinion) early switch which I don't want to have to do Thanx.

thats great news :D I'll definately be ordering one...Thanx 4 the super-quick response 8)

sorry...I didn't realise that it was in the wrong forum :oop

Thinking of purchasing the Rieger Grille and spoiler from tuning.co.uk. It states "Front grille spoiler to suit the standard VW Corrado bonnet. The grille and spoiler is manufactured from ABS plastic and supplied with fittings". Anyone know what they mean by standard bonnet? does it mean the late type? because I have the early type bonnet. Thanx.

Why o why?... when I turn the ignition, the engine turns but doesnt start. I have to floor the gas pedal to get it started, even then it takes ages. Anyone have a similar problem or solution?? (1.8 16V)

Just cristened my 1.8 C with it's first full tank. I'm getting an average of 20-25mpg driving in London during the day (when traffic is pretty heavy) and around 32-38mpg driving at night when roads are empty (around 40mph). Will let you guys know what I get from the full tank when it's empty.

Cheers guys, I've found all the parts and attempted resetting the base CO. the only problem is that I cant find a long enough allen key!! but will try again when i find one. Thanx again!!
-
Yep me too, looks like quite a few of us have the same prob then :|
-
Thanx mate, I shall be getting on with it...oh yeah one other question, which is the ignition coil? and metering head rubber boot?
-
I've sorted the problem (I think), I disconnected the horn fuse and now the engine turns off. I'll just have to drive it with no horn  until i figure out whats wrong. Thanks for the help guys.

Im trying to reset my CO to base 2% due to very high petrol consumption, around only 15mpg on london roads. anybody have a picture of where the ISV and throttle body is located on a 1.8 16V? I found a guide on cleaning the ISV but its for a MK2 golf, I couldn't see the ISV under my bonnet.
-
X relay? do you know which one it is? how could I test it?
-
If I don't disconnect the battery, the lights on the dash remain on as though the key is in position 2, which of course drains my battery overnight. Thanx for the advice, I'll have a look behind the fuse box to see if anything is loose.
