  1. As one of the three, my thanks to Paul :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: for trying his hardest to get this going. As the car is still months of being on the road I shall sit it out until the rest of your batteries die a horrible death by full discharge and you come begging back to this cancelled group buy pleading for it to be resurrected
  2. OK Seems 16v has the oldest corrado but what about the oldest in each engine type. I suspect the Campaigns are the oldest VR6's but I'll put mine up as a target NK015463 which makes it a late 1992 chassis (i.e. June/July 1992) by my reckoning Who has the oldest 2.0, g60 or Storm etc?
  3. I would be interested depending on the discount - already killed 2 batteries in the last 2 years.
  4. I have a plastic rocker cover from a galaxy VR6 sat in the garage. How about £30 posted? PM me if interested
  5. got one for about £25 from a scrappy with only a small amount of rust as mine was shot through. So worth asking around local yards as they do come up
  6. also thanks to g60knight - thanks for your patience
  7. OBD-II and OBD-I on Hampshire/Sussex border just north of Portsmouth. PM me if you need it

    Alternator

Cheers for the info David that's pretty much as I thought Wonder why the galaxy needs such a monster then? I'll probably keep it in reserve then for when I put the big ICE in :afro:

    Alternator

My VR6 did have a 70A that has been replaced with another 70A recently. What I would like to know is can you fit a 150A alternator to the VR6. I've just picked up one of eBay that was on a Galaxy VR6. If you can fit it what effect on performance and battery charging will it have?
  10. I am not an expert but... I have just fitted new OEM piston rings into my 150,000 mile VR. As far as bore wear is concerned the main problem seems to be oval wear in 1 and 6 as opposed to the bores getting bigger all round. To measure this you need to follow the guidlines in the Bentley manual. Ir there is no ovality then I would say that you should be fine fitting OEM piston rings. You need to bear in mind that they cost approx £70.00 per set (i.e. 3 for each cylinder) from VW. HTH Rob (thankfully no ovality in 1 or 6)

    Driveshafts

Having just put mine back in I don't recall having to "lock" it in. Just rotated it until the bolt holes lined up and then screwed the bolts in. Bentley manual says to replace gasket but I haven't bothered as they will come back off again soon
  12. If the car is working then I'll happily make the dash down to Exeter
  13. Excellent - how far off finishing do you think you are? ps don't forget to put a link to the forum when you next update your site
  14. If its rear wheel bearing the drone can disappear/reduce when you go round a corner in the same direction to the side affected Why would being in gear make any difference? as the wheels are still turning at the same speeds
  15. Pruned out - is that like an organic enema  Seriously top job so far :D :salute: When is it going to be a sticky topic?
  16. Original post is being updated but the best thing to do is take someone along who knows about the car as this is not yet a complete list.
  17. I don't know as mine hasn't got one either but I had heard that they do. :drinking: http://www.gti-vr6.net/library/engine/w ... _tool.html
  18. And there's more: Presence of spark plug removal tool under VR6 bonnet - I think that these were present from new Jack set should include - jack!, spanner and screwdriver at least Anything about the alarm system - mine was aftermarket but quite a few seem to have the oem one fitted
  19. Also under MFA section check that it is not flashing and that it doesn't reset itself after the ignition is turned on and off - indications of clocking Quite depressing this list cos it makes you think of all the things that can go wrong :(
  20. and first aid kit / warning triangle i.e. the first aid kit can be found behind the centre arm rest and the warning triangle found within the arm rest Replacements are £30 for the first aid kit and £20 for the warning triangle from the stealers. (If still available?)
  21. perhaps you should be more explicit on sunroof failure i.e. scratch marks on top of sun roof are a good indication of imminent or previous failure. Any stiffness in closure of slide is a good indication as well.
  22. Good luck with the new car - thanks for your help as well with the occasional questions I have asked in the past :)
  23. service history and regular oil changes much more important than number of miles
  24. Majik You have this problem because you haven't done anything about your dim dip i.e. sidelights only when ignition is on. See this topic for an explanation and how to bypass the problem http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewto ... highlight= Once I had sorted out the dim dip resistor it all worked fine Rob
  25. pug 205 diesel as a company car. Outgoing employee said that the only way you'll get a new car is to write it off... so i did by rolling it  Trouble is they bought me..... another 205 diesel :x
