Thanks mate - so I can see from that site that including shipping, and converted from Euros, that the ECU costs about £170 so I'll update the above Schrick pricing now...
-
Thank you everyone for input, i'm gonna give this some thought as I don't want to **** the guy off, who knows how he could react... gut instinct would be that a couple of calls from random people would really make him feel pretty guilty but that's a big ask and not sure it might aggravate the situation. I'd rather speak to him myself and point him at the direction of this post so he can see what others think. But hmmmpf he probably wouldn't care. If anyone has any good ideas how to approach i'd be grateful.

I paid £550 for the Quaife and I'd be asking for that amount + p&p if possible. And for the Schrick I paid about £750 and I'd like to recoup that. Does anyone have an idea of how much it is worth without the ECU?? EDIT: Apparently a new ECU is gonna cost about £170 so I'd accept offers approaching £580 in principle for the Schrick VGI. I think these prices are reasonable, so let me know if you think not and we can negotiate

that is fricking brilliant of you guys, thank you very, very much... VR6 , Dave , many thanks indeed, and Amos Motors Limited - that's the one! like i say he appeared to be a completely upfront sound guy in person but all this avoiding calls etc is lowwww. THANK YOU for your help i am sure it will help.

Hi all, For Corrado VR6 owners/traders... I have a brand new PELOQUINS LSD for sale, never been fitted, BNIB. NB CORRECTION - this has been sitting in a box for so long... it's part number 02A 498 005A I also have a Schrick VGI but it's MISSING THE ECU PIGGY BACK CONTROLLER * Please reply to this thread to express interest in buying either. Thanks, R. * Please see here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?76610-Robbed-of-a-Schrick-VGI-ECU-controller-during-sale-of-my-Corrado-to-a-guy-called-Mark

I'd appreciate some help with the following... I sold my VR6 L617 SVV to a guy called Mark who's mobile number is 07968 619952. He picked the car up on a flat bed truck with a winch, and said he was driving back up the M1 to his garage/scrap yard. He said he was going to track the corrado, and seemed like a genuine and decent bloke. He paid in cash and I was happy with the sale.... BUT... I agreed to leave the Schrick ECU piggy back controller in place to ensure there weren't problems when getting the car on to and off the truck. He gave me his word that he'd remove it and send back to me. He didn't, I've made several efforts to contact him and each time I call he registers who I am and hangs up. I've left messages, sent texts, and occasionally I call on a friends mobile and leave a message; I've been lucky once and spoke to him while he was in the presence of a CUSTOMER and he feigned forgetfulness... he was apologetic and said "I'll get the lads on it and have it sent down to you straight away". When filling in the transfer of sale via the Log book, it was a trade sale; I regretfully don't have a note of his business' name but I've placed an enquiry with the DVLA. I *think* it was something like 'MADDOX'. So, he's presumably running a garage or something. I'm confident this garage/yard is approx 2 hours north of London up the M1. I think he uses Corrados on track days, and that he has a large collection of Corrados (perhaps for breaking). His name is Mark and his number is 07968 619952. And I *think* his business' name is something like MADDOX LTD. but I will confirm in time. CORRECTION: later found out the guy's business is called Amos Motors Ltd. (Thanks VR6) It's a relatively small community this Corrado world. I would be really grateful if you could give this your thought as I would really like to A. get my Schrick ECU back! and B. warn anyone else when dealing with him that he's not as genuine as he appears. I'm sure I'll get over it! but I feel sick thinking about it; dishonesty, avoiding phone calls, ugghhh. I'm looking to sell the Schrick VGI and of course I'd like to sell it as a complete unit... He was about 5 ft 6 tall, unshaven, dark haired, white skin, long hair. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

if i was asked to look at someone's computer because it wasn't running so well I'd probably do it as a favour but ultimately those sort of arrangements end up being a pain in the ass for both parties. so probably the best way to approach this all is to look for a professional in london who's had a lot of experience with Corrado VR6's with non standard drivetrain/suspension setups. Further to Dave (above) has anyone else dot any good recommendations? -

4 wheel alignment; done. I believe it's been done twice now by two different garages. I'm confident that it was done properly recently ( the guy who did the alignment owns a corrado ) but you never know... The tie rods were replaced with genuine VAG parts, it definitely tightened up the front. Not sure about the ends. Like you guys ssay there's so much that could be the problem; but i really can't afford to fling cash at the car right now. So I'll take your advice dragon - sounds like a good bit of help there. I'll call Dave now, thanks for the heads up. -

ha I'm not really looking for someone to rag my car around! actually, why not, sounds quite fun... There's lots going on; she just doesn't feel stable at speed. When tootling around at 30-40 it's lovely, but 60mph+ and she's nothing like she was. I've got 16" BBS rims on her (careful to spec tyres so that the wheel is the same diamater as stock). Eibach springs all round, with Koni TA shocks (One garage told me he thought renewing the shocks would bring her back in line in terms of handling) She brakes fine, no problems there. There have been probs with the streering rack; i have had the tie rods replaced and was told by another garage that the steering rack 'bolts' needed tightening (but then another garage told me that was unlikely as by design the steering rack itself cannot become loose as it's held in place by 6 bolts) So much info, so little time to digest it all. Really feel that a Corrado afficando (with good understanding of the mechanics) would provide some really useful insight as to where I should spend money to make her sweet again. -
I'm looking for someone who'd be up for going out for a spin in my Corrado VR6 to help me work out how to improve the ride. I've been to several different garages and have been advised to look at several different aspects of the drive train; steering rack, tracking, wheel balance, bushes... i don't seem to be getting the results I need from these various professionals. I think it's time to talk to someone who is passionate about the Corrado as I believe they'll be able to work out what's going on much more easily. Do you agree? So I'm looking for someone, not necessary an auto mech professional, to come out in the car one day/evening/whenever and take her for a spin. I want to pay, buy beer, or even negotiate an good price for a brand new Quaiffe LSD (suitable for Corrado VR6) as I have one in my possession. Anyone game? Any ideas? Or failing this does anyone know a good Corrado friendly garage somewhere in London? Thanks for any help. Richard.

I took one of these for a test drive the other day; a pretty uninspiring torque curve, but you wouldn't know a turbo was under the bonnet. And consistent power, whatever the revs. I was thinking of getting one and spending a little on the shocks, and maybe a chip; i think it could be a great little car with a few tweaks. Anyone know anyone who has one? Love or hate?!...

Yikes - a jubilee clip I think must have been too tight on one of the 2 pipes through the bulkhead to the heater matrix. It's been leaking a little for some time, but just recently I was on the way to work and the coolant level indicator started flashing. So I pulled over and saw the leak was bad... I gave the pipe a little wiggle and crack... hot coolant everywhere! So... I'm told to repair this the dash needs to come out and that's probably a 6 hour job for someone who knows what they're doing. Parts = not much; a new matrix is under £100. I intend to sell this car sometime soon, so while wanting to make sure the job is done properly I wondered if anyone has got some ideas? Are there any options to look at as full removal of the dash is pretty extensive to replace such a part? Of course, if I go ahead with the work the new owner will be glad to know it's been done. Any help much appreciated... thanks.

replacement of broken seat pull-forward levers

trying to stay OEM - anyone got any ideas? or should i be looking at repairing the metal lugs and sticking the plastic bits back on? Other people must have had this problem? I like the aluminium extensions but they'll stick out unless you've got silver steering wheel, pedals, and gear stick! -
replacement of broken seat pull-forward levers
RichieSounds replied to RichieSounds's topic in Interior
they've broken, it's clear as i can see in the plastic part that there's a small stub of metal still. btw Supercharged - do you know who i can contact to buy a conlog alarm system? trying to track one down and someone mentioned that you might know somewhere i can buy a complete setup for £25; actually all i need is the key fob. help much appreciated but back on the topic; i can't seem to find any info on ETKA about this; has anyone got any further info on how to make good? -
Has anyone broken one of their seat flip lever whatsits? these stick out the side and you yank them up in order to flip the seat forward to get in the back of the car. someone's broken each on either side of my VR6: P1010276_out.jpg[/attachment:198deoip] So I have the plastic surround parts still and the handles. But has anyone got any info on how to replace the actual metal insert which goes into the handle? This seems to be fixed inside the seat... hoping for some good news as i've just sold a couple of spare seats. thanks for any help.

ahh cool well thanks for the responses - i'm going to take a note of the alternator model number and call up VW to see which pulley part should be used. I thought it sounded a bit weird that the alternator came with a pulley on it too... thanks again.
-
I've just had a new ribbed belt fitted to my air-con equipped VR6, but it looks like the belt rises on the outer rim of the alternator pulley - not healthy. Does anyone know why that may be? I did have the alternator replaced by a mecahnic a while ago, and he says he did not remove the old pulley from the old alternator. So he slapped on the new alt with the pulley that came with it. Does that sound right to you?

Please could someone outline the procedure for swapping a standard diff to a LSD (in this case peloquin) in a Corrado VR6. Any special requirements/tools in order to do the job (properly!)? With thanks and happy NY!

great stuff dinkus. i was being a doofus. that makes a whole lot of sense. so the tyres i've just put on my car are actually smaller than the originals. oh well. i think i can live with that!! i wish i'd seen that calculator before buying my nice new tyres though. It would have influenced that decision. veedub21 how come your downsizing? tram lining or is the ride too hard? cheers guys.

interesting - how come i wonder? 205/40/16 comes closer to the radius of the standard wheels... am i missing something or is my maths wrong. thanks for link to the wiki, that page is really useful.
