  1. Hi all,

Can anyone confirm if a set of 8 x 17" ET38 wheels would fit onto the C, using a set of 20 mm adapters (ET18) to change the stud pattern from current to 4 x 100 or 5 x 100 PCD ?

Would you need to do any arch mods (car would be running H&R coilovers all round, VR6 topmounts, uprated bushes and poss. Eibach ARB's) ?

    Cheers

  2. Car coming out of bodyshop friday to be sent to be remapped and the engine finished / gearbox installed, brakes and suspension fitted etc. Also just got a quote from Brentacre, really helpful guy I spoke to, and top quote too of £580 for my agreed values with mods declared and recently acquired points too. Was only 80 wuid more than last year with HiC !

Watch this space for more pics etc.

    Cheers

  3. There are currently 73 MK4 Golf V6 4MOTIONS for sale in the the £6000-£12000 price bracket on autotrader. Whatever you think, IMO and having spoken to salvage companies about this in the past, there is no way a CAT X (no matter what CAT) car is going to either be worth or sell for the same as an original non VCAR-registered example. Of course insuarance are going to pay out what the car was probably insured for. It's not worth £10K either I'm afraid, similar non VCAR-registered examples are selling just now for around £7000-£8500 max e.g.

2001 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 2.8 V6 4MOTION 3dr Hatchback, Petrol, 53,000 miles, Silver. PAS, Trip computer, Rear wiper, Service indicator, 3x3 point rear seat belts, Drivers airbag.. . . . . (private) £8,300 o.n.o

I'm not saying that you didn't get a good deal or anything because you probably did and they are lovely cars too as I helped a friend look for one recently :D

    Cheers

  4. If you do a search for ISV or ISV reroute you should get all the relevant info from past discussions up about them. I ran one on my first G60 and had no problems, also it increases the noise your G60 puts out. I think they are meant to prevent boost leaking from the ISV itself. Many people with G60's in the US use them and swear by them (?)

    Hope this helps

  5. Both EIP and ATP (there are also a few other less well-known companies offerin g kits) do VR6 turbo kits in various stages:

    http://www.eiptuning.com/eip/vwa2a3stage1vr6turbo.html (330BHP) £2500 all in

    http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merch ... Code=VVWTK

    (250BHP) £1550 all in or 300BHP (stage 2) for £1950

Even if one was to get the kit and get a custom manifold made you would still be getting a bargain kit IMO (both kits include intercooler, turbo, piping, software, chip, external wastegate, blow-off valve etc, etc.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

  6. Have heard mixed reviews of TSR TBH.

As for the conversion, it's supposed to be quite good, but not the best way to do a 2L conversion as TSR use a VW van bottom end to carry this out. It's not good value either as what are we talking here, £3405 for new bottom end and pistons, a cam and gasflowed head plus fitting and setting up ?? That said, there was guy in Golf+ (July 2005 issue) running a Corrado G60 with this TSR 2.0L Spa conversion and a BahnBrenner screw charger putting out a claimed 260 BHP at the flywheel ! (230 BHP at the wheels).

Seems a bit much really TBH, you can get your own bottom end rebuilt with necessary new bits, crank etc. (£500 ish), get a set of forged pistons (£450-£500), gas flowed head £350, schrick cam or similar for £200, fitting well can be done yourself or I'd imagine £400-£500 would cover labour for pulling engine out and putting back in, all for around £2000 all in (apologies if figures are off but won't be by much).

Pretty sure that Henny on here had a similar conversion carried out by JMR(?)and runs a 1940cc which is practically a 2L conversion. Also, I think Darren / g-man from G-Werks is developing a 1.9L G60 engine of some sort at the moment.

  7. Think he means the thing which looks like a rose that appears at the passenger side of the car. See how it could look like a rose perhaps but my money is on it being a photographers floodlight fitted with red-light bulb to improve / alter tone and contrast on the car when it appears in photos.

    Cheers

  8. Think 15BHP added is a bit optimistic TBH, maybe 8-10BHP max if the car is well set-up. Also there are fitment issues i.e. pretty big manifold so tends to knock against PAS rack and other bits in the engine bay. Hence, usually used with solid engine mounts, but again, then you MAY experience problems with the manifold cracking over time.

    Cheers

  9. The rear lights are "afterburner" lights made by Hella and cost around £650 IIRC. The Corrado VR6 that they are on used to (maybe still does don't know) belong to a guy called Dave Preston and used to have the reg plate 319 DWP. It won best car of the day at the Corrado Club's tenth anniversary bash and back then it had 8 x 17" OZ Monte Carlo wheels and mix 'n' match bodykit inc. custom front grill with a full retrimmed leather interior done by Junior at MJ-interiors. It also had Schrick VSR manifold etc. Laterly, it had a Z-engineering supercharger fitted and was running bout 280 BHP.

    Cheers

  10. Just had a thought, would it be possible to use the MK2/ 3 Golf diesel (NA or turbo) bottom end in conjunction with different pistons to carry out a 1.9L conversion to a Corrado G60 supercharged (or turbocharged) ?

Maybe just being dense here but this would seem a cheaper way of doing this conversion as they are readily available for not a lot of cash,

    Cheers

  11. Yeah think the colour really suits the car IMO. Looks amazing when the sun hits is and purpley sparkle bits thru it ! Just need to get the window rubber on and headlights fitted when adjusters arrive and SELL MY WHEELS so I can get it back from bodyshop.

I would say that the Sony Ericsson k750i has the best digital camera on the market, amazing quality as you can see from the pics above. Yeah sorry, car been sitting out for 10 days since they finished the bodywork and has got messed up woith dust and bird carp but will be sorted soon !

Rear bumper has been debadged and smoothed with rear towing eye removed and really lovin' the smoothed mirrors too. Front bumper was a pain to get looking right i.e mesh totally flush with front face of bumper and T4 transporter van vent looks almost factory (should I mesh it behind u reckon ?) but also hard to get right said bodyshop as the vent supplied had to trimmed and then shaped to avoid the major side swageline,

    Just can't wait now !

    Cheers

  12. UPDATE

Here is some spy shots of her. Still in the bodyshop Just waiting for new headlight adjusters so I can fit new headlights and window scraper / rubber as old one was warped. Then have following to do:

Get last engine bits fitted - car to be transported 250 miles to garage for custom remapping using wideband etc., then get her MOT'd

Pick-up gearbox and get it fitted

    Fit suspension

    Fit brakes

Full retrim (black leather or half-leather / blue alcantara ??)

Few other minor bits and pieces to do here and running out of time before debut at edition38 hopefully

    Cheers

  13. Ok, I need VR6 1st, 2nd and 5th (plus reverse as on same shaft), already have G60 3.64 final drive, this is all going into my O2A MK3 16V Passat box with Peloquin ATB diff. So I will defo be able to use the 1st, 2nd and 5th from a MK3 VR6 gearbox, they are the same ratios as Corrado CHN code ratios and they will fit ok ?

Sorry for all the questions but don't want to end up buying something I cannot use (already happened recently when I purchased an apparently VR6 ratio gearset which by some VW mystery turned out to be 1990 Corrado 16V gearset and was useless for ratios I need

    Cheers

  14. I believe you can turbo a G60 (has been done many, many times by loads of people, esp. in the states, try vwvortex.com for loads of info.) with parts from donor cars e.g Saab, Volvo, Nissan, Ford etc. for about £500-£1000 (I'm sure that VEEDUBBED will back me up on this one), pretty cost-effective when you consider the prices of new kits £1750-£2500 and the price of a new / recon. charger (£650-£1250). Also will make more power as standard than chipped and pullied etc. G60. Just get used to the turbo lag and start missing the whine of the G60 charger !!
