  1. hi again ppl, i have jst fitted 2 wishbones with bushes, 2 ball joints and 2 track rod ends, 2 front tyres and had them balanced and laser tracked. my steering feels nice and responsive and a bit tighter but.........................i can still feel a tiny bit of play in the steering and the steering wheel wobbles slightly at any speed, more noticable the faster u go. does this mean i have to replace the steering rack and/or the steering drive shaft the passes thru the firewall?????


  2. PS, i have recently noticed that my near side tire has been rubbin at some point on the plastic inner wing as tho the wheels has moved towards the front of the car slightly.... this car really has got me baffled and there aint many garages that can get these babies setup or fixed proper.


  3. RE engine mounts, could this be the cause of my sterring snatchin left when coming off the gas and pulling straight again when i acelerate. Would the amount the engine would move with knackered mounts affect the steering, cos the gearbox will move too thus altering the drive shafts????


  4. after much thought, im going to get 2 of everything. wishbones with bushes, ball joint, track rod ends and strut top mounting kits. atleast then il jst be left with steering rack and its associated joints.

    Looks like i'll have to dig deep and study the history carefully. Will try and contact the company that did the work if it looks to be a good car worth following up.

     

    I guess your saying that if it checks out and the car drives well etc and I get a good price it could be worth a shot?

     

    Would you ever consider buying a prev cat D car if all appears to be ok with it?

    I'm new on the site and hopefully getting a corrado. Spotted several for sale on this site and on auto trader etc.

     

    There is quite few around but not many that are close but thought I might have a look at one thats on AT and local. Problem is that it has been a cat D write off at some point. Spoke to the owner and he seemed a really nice guy, he was the one involved in the accident that led to the ins company writing it off. He had the work done to fix it (new susp parts, door and a wheel), said he was quite harshly treated by the ins company.

     

    Is it generally accepted that under no circumstances should I consider buying something like this or could it still be a good buy if it seems good when viewing? It has full history, 95k, just a few owners etc.

     

    What are you thoughts on this?

  7. i think i have the same prob as u mate in myVR6. when i let off the gas my steering wheel twitches from straight ahead to pulling left then when i re-apply the gas it pulls straight again.i can only describe a sort of play in the steering like the steering UJ joint being worn? dnt know if every corrado does this but when engine is off, if i shake the steering wheel side to side maybe 5 or so inch from left to centre n right to centre quickly, there feels like play and a near un-noticable tap feeling coming thru the steering...................??never been able to get a garage to give a diagnosis.


  8. i have the same problem on my vr6, car was sitting in drive for a number of weeks and when i finally took it for a run my temp will onlyJUST reach half on the guage and my oil temp sits low. i thought it might be cos i have taken the big radiator for my air con away from infront of the main water radiator but my heaters only blow warm n not nice n hot. the pipes that lead into the heater matrix are roasting but still not much heat...................

    You'd think if you were selling a car that you'd clean it for the photos and viewings! :roll:

     

    I used to pass this car on the way to work everyday, flashed lights and all that, its actually quite a nice car so why he didn't clean is beyond me.


  10. corrado VR6 Slc

     

    S/S exhaust, totally straight thru from bottom of downpipe to backbox, straight thru internals in backbox (power flow) with oval tail pipe.

     

    Custom made by Gates tyres in carlisle, perfect fit.

     

    nice and loud but not crazy Nova or corsa loud, loudest at 2200-3000 RPM, between 3000 and 4500 RPM i get a nice V6 purr that sounds kinda hollow? and after that hell breaks loose, sounds totally awsome and still not stupid loud. if im at high revs and tap the throttle when backing off, i get some nice banging, summit similar to anti lag but obviously not as wild. been known to shoot the odd flame when over taking and changing gear at high revs. sorts out the kiddies in there matchbox cars lol


  11. i havent solved it yet. will try on monday morning, can only think of one other thing to try on my computer to see if i can get it to work. i got mine from alpha bid too. such a pain in the ass un-hooking all my pc stuff to set it up outside to find 30 secs later that it doesnt wrk..........


  12. hi ppl, being a cheap ass i bought a serial-2x2 cable for my 92 vr6. i downloaded vag-com 311.2 and tried it. the error message i always receive is com status-OK, interface-3 not found or not ready! i have tried it with the car running and also just on the ignition point. I have tried other versions of vagcom too but keep getting the same error message. #Mad my com port is working, so vagcom test says and my pc in "device manager". pls pls if someone can help or shed some light on this it would be much appreciated, thx

  14. no. the air con is a totally seperate unit from all other engine/cooling parts, plus, it wasnt charged up so wasnt working anyways. the strange thing i didnt mention is that the needle on the temp guage (in standing traffic etc) used to climb to the 230F mark, dnt know wot that is on euro models, 110 c or summit, the highest number on guage, and them the fan would kick in and cool it back down to the half. now with my temps being alot lower, the fan kicks in when the temp guage jst goes over the halfway point???????? dnt think it is fualty guages cos my oiil temp is also low too......


  15. hi ppl. i recently removed my non working (charged) air con radiator frm my vr6, my heaters used to blow good hot air and the temp guage always sat on the half-way mark. after removing the big airflow restricting air con radiator, my water temp doesnt hit halfway unless stood in traffic and when driving sits from jst above quarter to nearly not registering and the oil temp when driving sits at about 207F when it used to be about 227-238F. my question is, even thought i now have better airflow to my (water) radiator, shouldnt my water temp still sit on the half????
