Then pull the bumper backwards!

Cheers Henny. One day I will come up with a question about the G that you or Gavin cant answer, but until that day :salute:
-
Just so I can do this quick, where are the temp senders on the G60? Sorry but new the the old geladen. Would you do this with the battery off, or just ignition off?
-
The reason I say this was my Fathers AMG Merc was having the same problem, no water leaks anywhere, water pump had been changed and tested, and still it was loosing water slowly, it ended up being the cap allowing the water to percolate. Logic would say that the caps are different colours for a reason. But then again I could be well out and talking poo! Edit- Halfords ones are still black
-
Is the temps not different on the Blue and Black caps? Blue being a lower boiling point?
-
Since it has been realy cold I have had a problem with my G60. When I first start my car in the morning, after a couple of minutes the idle starts to race, 2500 rpm, until the needle starts to move on the temp gauge, then everything goes back to normal! :help: I know it is nothing to do with the temp gauge that was just a reference. I have cleaned out the ISV with carb cleaner, could it still be this sticking slightly, would a drop of WD40 help? Could it be the old Blue temp sender? Something else? :brickwall: Thanks, Antny.

Have you tryed changing you cap? or at least the seals in the cap?

If you think it should be that easy I will have a go myself, but if I need your help I will have the flowers and chocolates ready (no these arnt for you) Do you think the fuel pump will need to be swaped? Anything else that I mite not of thought about? The golf doesnt have MFA, will that also just plug in?
-
Looks like that bit is sorted then, now swaping the G60 engine and box! Both cars are LHD so hopefully the parts should fit! Thanks for your help as always Gavin :salute: Any help on the wiring?
-
The corrado is a manual, but the box on the golf feels way nicer. And I thought it would be easier than trying to change the selector over to cable, I want it all to look like factory. When you say I need to use the 1800 flywheel, they are both 1800's, explain please.

IF I lend you my car will you do some pics like that for me?

Im going to be swapping the engine form my US spec corrado G60 into my mk4 lhd golf cabrio 1.8. I cant see a problem with the engine swap, and I think the engine will go onto the rod change box that is currently fitted into the golf, and I cant see any other problems at this stage unless anyone can tell me differnet?? My problem is the wiring, I want to wire it back into the fuse box as it should be, anyone know hard this will be? Has anyone got any advise on this? Anyone know of a cheap auto electricon or friend who could do this cheaply? Please feed free to post you opinions or help. Thankyou.

What sort of bhp increase should you get from this kit on a standard engine? How much will the mpg be affected, I usually get 31 mpg going to work and back and about 22 round town (short journeys)??
-
PhatVR6 I can sort you one in a week or 2?

Calibra turbos come with an oil pressure gauge so how is it reading? I would give it a good few flushes, even think obout putting the sump plug back in, and pour something like parafin into the sump to seee if it will soften it, do not run the engine with parafin in the sump. Plus you dont want to be dropping the transfare box, did the cluch on one a couple off weeks ago, 12 hour job, subframe off and everything!

Most plugs work, I just need some that will last, I think I made the right choice. The denso's are iridium with only a 0.4 mm dia electrode  -

Got it sorted yestaday, fitted the Denso IK 22. The car is a bit harder to start, takes a couple of turns, and it is a bit flat until its warmed up. :| Question is does the car run any better, well I had to get towed home last nite, that was after the CV joint blew up dragging away from a set of lites, oh golly gosh, the car set off like a scalded cat in first, quick change to second, and BANG, the engine is no long connected to the wheels, not bad for a 3000 mile old joint
