Well ive just spoken to my uncle that's just SVA'd his R1 powered kit car. He bought the copper pipes cut to length as part of the kit but says that its relatively easy to do as long as you dont put a kink in the pipes. I think i may have a go, im not stupid and ill either have the work checked out before i put it to proper use or ill take it to the nearest airfield!! So, does anyone know what clips i need to hold the brake lines on, what size pipe is best and any decent techniques for preparing the car first! Been told 8mm copper pipe should do the job, about right??

just developed the same problem on my MK3 golf, whenever i go around a sharp left hand bend you can hear a clunking sound. I cant place the sound though as it doesnt do it everytime and im sure its coming from the back end. Where abouts is you noise coming from? Im taking mine down to my local garage to see if he can figure it out, if he does ill post my solution to see if it helps you!

Lo all, My C is currently in need of some TLC and is off the road, my golf is my little run around but thats starting to need some work (timing belt and F brake disks/pads so far) and i could do with selling it on. Id probably get about a grand for it but it would mean i had no transport during the week. If i sell it i will struggle to travel to stealers etc for parts so does anyone know of any decent suppliers online that dont charge the earth for delivery? thanks

Lo all, Well ive finally got a bit of money towards my C. I will be booking it into Midland VW for a full service and check over and to get a few problems sorted but one of the MOT failures was: - N/S front brake pipe bulged - Rear brake pipes rusted/weak Now at the time i had a couple of replies saying: The flexy hoses are only about a fiver each from GSF and 2 rolls of copper pipe is about another £30. Leave all the std brakes just replace the pipework. Buy the flaring tool and its a cheap job. Sometimes a bit awkward to get too. I just take them out with a hacksaw. Get yourself some new clip things from dub. The originals will be shagged. A full set of Goodridge braided hoses will work out similar price to a full set of VAG flexy hoses and will improve the feel of the brakes. Make up the fixed hoses So ive been looking around and on the Goodridge site i have a choice of the Zinc plated fitting (£77.55) or the Stainless Steel Fittings (£102.23) for the G60, both with or without TUV Approval (???) Which would you recommend and whats the difference between the 2? Also, can anyone suggest anywhere i can get them cheaper? As for the fixed lines i was wondering how big a job this is? As someone who hasnt the greatest amount of practical experience would i be able to do this? What diameter copper pipe should i be looking at getting? what other tools will i need other than the flaring tool? What do you do about connecting the ends of the copper pipes to what they connect too? Anyone got a part number for the clips that hold the pipes in or are they just standard clips? Thanks to anyone that can answer any of the many questions asked above! hopefully if this works out i should be taking a few photos and writing a little guide incase anyone else needs to do this! EDIT: Anyone know of a group-buy going on for the goodridge hoses?

yeah your right just found some 17" on http://www.bbsdirect.co.uk for £1995 inc toyo tyres, vat & delivery!!
-
found some here But damn!! only found them in 18" and 19" so far!! 18" = £2199  doesnt say how deep they are tho! 19" = £2680 (Right, gets dressed for work and is going in for overtime!!) How much work would be needed to fit these as i do intend on lowering it! not sure how much yet tho depending on the alloy size!! how big would 225/40/18 tyres be??
-
Found 2 alloy styles that i like but unsure which to get. the first are Oxigin Toxic's (7.5 x 17'" £725 inc 4x205/40/17 tyres) how big are these tyres?? also in chrome for £945 OR these as of yet unknown alloys (thread in General Car Chat) opinions please! PS, what sort of info should i consider when buying alloys?? is it better to buy the alloys and tyres seperately??

Lo all, Down at the local scrappy is a busted up mk4 golf with the nice sporty seats fitted, only problem is that they have torn stitches down the outside edge on both seats (the material is fine its just the stitches). Q: can they be fitted to a C and how easy would it be to repair them?

Ive recently been told that Halfords do a plastic dye spray, its the same as a normal spray paint but dyes the plastic as well. Might be a good thing to look into!

heres the email reply i got from G-werks concerning my rebuild "How would you be bringing the charger to us ? would it be on the car of via a courier service ? If its on the car the costs are £370 + £75 removal/refit Via courier £370 + £12.04 return carriage One days work for on the car basically drive the car in for the day and return home same day . Courier service 3-4 working days. There are lots of great things to do to your g60 I would recommend getting it to the standard that vw intended it to be before tuning though as tuning a car that’s not 100% fit could give you further problems. For any further assistance you may require please do not hesitate to contact me.."

ive put a post on overclockers.co.uk, there's just over 12,500 members so there should be a few people that will keep and eye out for it. really sorry mate, ive got my G60 parked outside my house and im always worried about it being nicked. Ive recently taken a few leads out of the engine until i can get the engine sorted tho so i shouldnt have too much worry. Hope you get it back in the condition it was before it was stolen!!

The turbonator - anyone heard of this for their RADO?
MNuTz replied to pacificshack's topic in General Car Chat
At the end of the day if it was so amazing dont you think some car manufacturer would have purchased the idea from him and start putting it on their engines?? -
Ive been doing a little research into it and a couple of mates have offered their services for free. They want to learn to use Kandy colours and need a car to practice on. My car + i buy the paint and they'll do the whole thing for me, if it goes wrong they'll do a complete respray in another colour for free inc paint! They've got loads of experience so it should work out well. Im also looking at experienced spray shops, will keep this thread updated! :)
-
urrrmmm, still not sure! Think i'll wait awhile and see if i can find one to look at in person. Only problem ive got is unless you find one specifically for the C and has a 90 degree opening it leaves little room for you to get in and out! Thanks for the pic tho :)
-
I believe its a Kandy red, you spray it over a yellow base cost for the sort of effect that you get above! As far as im aware the Kandy red over yellow is just known as candy apple red! this bike frame is the best example of the colour! http://www.cccycles.com/redframe.html
-
yeah i get where your coming from but id have to be pushing it to roll the C anyway so i doubt there'd be a lot left of the windows anyway! im undecided, think i'll have to see what they look like on a C first!
-
Lo all, ive just finished talking to a couple of mates about the C and ive decided to get a total respray done. Its currently red but i'd like to go for Candy apple Red like this car What are your opinions? Ive also thought about a dark purple colour, maybe a black base coat with metallic purple over the top. Would this look ok or too "in your face" for a C?

Lo all, Ive been removing my interior so ic an give it a good cleaning and my brother was helping, in the matter of an hour he managed to open both doors into stationary objects. The doors already had several chips down the side where this has obviously happened previous to my ownership, and now with these new ones im starting to get a little ticked off! Ive looked at them before and i know people see these and think chav but i think on a coupe car its ok, only chav on hatchbacks. But what do you all think of lambo doors? GTF do a universal set that move a few inches outwards then move a 90 degree angle leaving loads of space to get in and out! Its a bit pricey but it'd have to be cheaper than repairing chips all the time! Im not going to be whacking a huge body kit on, just 17" alloys and lowering it a bit and thats it. Ideas, comments or suggestions??

http://www.newreg.co.uk are advertising G60 plates but the prices are rather steep!! Ill remember to go through the DVLA instead and avoid the middle man fee's! Gotta get it on the road first, just a tad more important dont you think?
