Im not a big fan of personal plates usually because they only mean something to the driver and not to anyone else, but having a G60 i thought there must be some nice plates out there for my car. My current plate was personal to the female owner as it was her initials and ive recently been asked by a neighbour if im planning on selling them as its his initials too! Well, obviously the first plate that came to mind was G60 VWC but i cant find it anywhere and the RAC website doesnt say its registered to a car. Boy would i love that plate!! Cant find G60 CVW either :( Did a few searches and came up with the following G6 VWC - £494 G6 OSF - £494 (my initals are SF) Anyone here got personal plates and do you all think that they are worth even if its only you that knows its a P plate??

Lo all, Thought id get some new alloys for my C but which ones?? I will be upgrading the suspension with a coilover kit at the same time but should i go for 17" or 18" alloys? Also, anyone any suggestions for alloys? Nothing really jumps out at me! Id like something that hasnt got loads of spokes or really large spokes, must be able to see discs. Ideally not bling-bling alloys or with too much going on! Simple yet makes you go "nice alloys" Oh, and must obviously suit the car!! :) Thanks in advance!

well autotrader is a good place to look and christ have the prices dropped! I remember when a VR6 would cost aroun 7-10K mark! Any chance of some pics of the car? Also, how much has it been offered to you for? I may know someone whos interested in taking it off your hands!!

Finally got around to sending my V5 off to register my C in my name and noticed that the Date of Registration says "25 02 1992". When i looked on the RAC website and entered my number plate into the vehicle data check it comes up with "Date Manufactured = 30 December 1992", this is after the V5 doc. Should i be concerned about this or just assume that the RAC info is wrong? Also, if it was registered on the 25 02 1992 does it mean it doesnt have to have a CAT fitted??

Lo all, When i originally test drove the G60 it had average MPG of 34-38, after i bought the battery died on me so i charged it up and put it back into car. Couple of weeks later i had to take it for its MOT, average MPG had dropped to 15 with an emissions rating of 9%!! Mechanic suggested scrapping car as it'd cost far too much to sort all the problems out, the look on his face when i said "thats what owning a corrado is all about"!! :) Anyway, spoke to another mechanic and said about emissions, his nova had a 7% rating but he fixed it by replacing the ECU. Im gonna reset mine to see if thats the problem, thing is i havent got a vag com yet. Can i just reset it without having to do the basic settings afterwards as described in the knowlege base?

they just unscrew mate, easy peasy to do and wont do any damage. If they really want to they can get into any car, all we can do is make it harder for them. If they can see its alarmed, that the door pins have been removed and either the steering wheel has been protected or locked it should make them think twice about trying to get in.

I'd forget a steering wheel protector and look into a removable steering wheel. As for the alarm going off, they would of pushed a small wire between the window and the rubber and lowered the wire around your lock pin in your door and lift, door unlocks easy peasy! Seen it done on TV, easy answer is to remove the locking pins from both doors and store them in your ash tray when ever you leave your car.

OOO what a week ive had. Mon/Tues (21/22 March) the g/f saw a black Corrado in Market Drayton, Shropshire. M7** WWF. Friday 25th, Dark C going into Shrewsbury. M9** MUX Sat 26th, Purple(ly) C going down Shrewsbury bypass. Didnt get plate but it looked like the same driver as the MUX one above. Really nice car. Sat 26th, C going South into Barmouth at about 4:30pm Sat 26th, saw this C as we were approaching Welshpool between 5-6pm Sorry for the lack of details but when your doing 80 its hard to get them down! :)

I was planning further down the line to: Replace all bulbs with new ones Replace all hoses possible with performance hoses, and buy new standard ones where needed. Lupo wiper conversion. Its just it was planned over several months but now ive got to get as much cash together as possible :(

it was my best mates bro-in-law that did the MOT and i asked him to be super strict so i knew exactly where i stood with the car. Any help much appreciated gavin :) (also, how much you chargin for headlight loom?) Mechanic said im looking at supercharger rebuild and head gasket replacement at the very least to decrease emissions. Gwerks for charger. Anything else i should look at doing while im replacing the head gasket or should i just get pros to do gasket and other stuff too?

Lo all, Bought a G60 a few months back, its been off the road and stored and i recently thought it was MOT time for it. It failed :( i knew it would but not on what i was told from the garage that mot'd it before i bought it! :roll: :mad: Original garage told me it was a small piece of welding under the radiator and a rusty brake hose. Heres the list of failures and my advice note: MOT Failures - number plate light not working - N/S headlight insecure (the bracket is broken) - N/S headlight aim low - N/S side indicator not working - O/S rear indicator not working -O/S N/S front suspension leg tops excessive movement/play - Rear brake load valve seized - N/S front brake pipe bulged - Rear brake pipes rusted/weak - Washers/Wipers not working - Emissions too high - 9% Advice: - N/S Front tyre low tread - O/S N/S front rims damaged on inside edges - Battery loose - insecure (last garage lost the bloody bracket) - O/S N/S front brake pipe ends rusted - Water leaks/Fan problem/Temp gauge problem Got an emissions Test result too but gotta go pick it up as he gave me the wrong one!! I need as mush advice as possible regarding the serious stuff including time to fix, how difficult it will be and more importantly cost of doing it myself vs cost of garage doing it! Would it just be easier for me to replace entire brake system with a performance system but keeping disks and pads for a while? HELP :cry:

Lo all, 2 questions: 1) Took my C out the other day to the garage and was playing with the MFA and it was indicatiting that my oil temp was 114'c!! I thought this was running high so kept an eye on it. It would go from 100-114 and back again whilst driving. What temp should the oil be at and should it vary this much? 2) My mate next door has recently bought himself a G60 that need some body work and a new interior. He had the engine running yesterday and when he pushes the accelerator the engine doesnt respond straight away and he noticed that the very bottom pulley seems to move from side to side while the engines running. He asked me to check mine and mine stays perfectly still. Any ideas as to whats wrong with his car and how much it will be to fix? Thanks in advance for any info :)

well the thing is im getting the C sprayed black and getting some nice alloys for it but i really want some nice clear lights for the front. Anyone any ideas where i can get some?? I was looking at polo lights but they're too high and not long enough for the C.

Lo all What do you all think of this car? Im not keen on the sills or the front bumper but i really like the rest! Not sure about the MK4 Golf lights but i think it does work and makes the C look a lot newer! PS. anyone know whats going on with the midland VW website? all i get is server maintenance page! Only had my car a short while but ive found that my fan seems to be stuck on. I charged the battery yesterday and put it on this morning and the fan kicked right in :( Check to see if yours is doing the same. Im afraid i havent got a solution to it yet though :( Only other thing i can think of is that maybe a wire has become exposed somewhere and is creating another earth! How long since you last changed the battery?

Just learn to pump the brake pedal instead of slamming it on, doesnt work as well but does help. I once rear ended a metro due to a tractor with no lights on (long story), the metro had no back end at all, it started where the rear wheels where. I had to replace bonnet, bumper, drivers wing and light. VW = tank :)

Thanks for all the replies. Im looking to spend around £3-5K on the car in total so i't should be a good challenge. When it comes time for us to go head-2-head ill make sure someones video taping it for us :D PS: How much would you be looking at to fit an R32 engine into car?? Not for me but a mate would like to know!

Lo all, Here's the deal: Mate at work has to be the best at everything, ive just put up with it until now but when i got my G60 he knew his little 1.6 purple Fiesta Zetec was going to take a kicking. To better me he's decided to go out and buy a Type-R (200BHP). Now he keeps telling me how all C's are pants and how he's going to thrash me. I want to turn my basic 160BHP G60 into a Type-R eating monster. Question is how? What would you do?? PS, Im not modding car to beat him, i was going to do it anyway but this is a good reason to get it done sooner :D Ive got until summer when we're going for a track day!
