I'm amazed that they were charging you that much!! When i was 19 they wanted £4400 from me for TP only with 0 NCB, manged to get that down to £1800 but that was still too much for the G60. I've just finally managed to purchase a G60 at 23, first quote with Elephant.co.uk TPFT with 0 NCB was £606.

Lo all I was recently talking to a friend about the new MK5 golf GTi and the new Direct-Shift Gearbox that you can have fitted. I sounds great but comes with a hefty price tag. My question is, would it be possible to fit a DSG gearbox into a G60?? What sort of things would i have to take into account??

You know when you first buy a new car and it will come with the manual stating what everything does in the interior and a bit of technical info, well i havent got one :( Can i buy one from somewhere? PS. are all C's push button starts or is that just mine?

I just bought one and it turns out to have the same problem. When i went for the test drive the bonnet was already up (con job there eh?) when i arrived, ill get in touch with the mechanic and see how he did it. Get back to you asap!!

Check you local scrapyard. Mine has boxes full of random pipes and you may find one that fits!

Its been delocked at some point in its history, think its got Passat rear handles on it!! The only option would be to try and climb through the boot and im far to big for that :D

Well the new C is starting to create rather a long list of problems. As well as the sunroof, stalling when breaking etc i took the g/f out for a spin on Friday to show it off, got home about 7:15 and parked it up outside my house and walked to the g/fs. Got home at 11:20 and the C was making a whirring noise, turns out the fan was stuck on and i couldnt open the bonnet to disconnect the battery until i could sort it. Result = flat battery by morning, central locking means i cant get inside the car and the bonnet is still stuck down. :( Well, reading up on the new thread about popping the bonnet open i'll give that a try but anyone any ideas what i should check out for the fan??

Lo all, Just picked up the G60 and im as happy as larry :D Anyway, i noticed a few things since picking it up that i didnt notice originally. 1) The lever to open bonnet doesnt open bonnet when pulled. Im guessing its the cable thats gone but can i open the bonnet without using the lever?? Where's the best place for a cable and for how much? 2) When breaking, the oil light comes on. What is the best oil to use? I will be getting a full service just after xmas and just want something that will do the job but not break the bank. 3) Exactly what should the engine sound like under acceleration? I keep hearing a whooshing (air escaping) is this normal? 4) The petrol gauge and temp gauge seems broken. The temp gauge didnt move at all but it ran out of petrol at work and it was well below empty, i got to the garage and put a tenner in it. It was then still below empty but by the time i got home it had risen to just below the red mark. How much should it cost to fill a tank? What can i check to see if the gauge is working correctly?? 5) Does the C come with a security system built in? Mine has central locking and an alarm but it auto locks when the key is in the ignition and doors locked, the petrol cap is also controlled by the central locking! Im sure ill find others, but its now dark so its parked up waiting for morning. I shall be taking a few pictures and giving it a good clean. Also got to make sure the sunroof is watertight, can you get new seals to go around the sunroof?

Yeah, im aware the low price means more work but i just had to have it :) As for the hoses, they are looking past it so i will be replacing them along with all the other little bits and pieces! I think i may have to contact VW about getting it serviced then eh?? :)

Lo all. Ive just bought a G60 for £1700. Im going to have the charger looked at for my own piece of mind now, unless i can get in touch with some of the previous owners to see if its been done already. Just a couple of questions as im fairly new to the mechanical side of cars : 1) Is there a Haynes manual or similar manual for the corrado? If so where from and how much? 2) Are there anyone in the UK that specialise in C's or that you would recommend? 3) Is there anything that i should check out or replace for peace of mind? 4) Id like new performance hoses all round, anyone recommend any? 5) The sunroof wont close properly. Ive been told in CCQ that "Sunroof sounds like a broken cable. You'll also need the repair kit for the "water guide plate" on that side as it's what caused the cable to break. Total cost in bits is ~£70" How easy is this to repair myself and where can i get the parts as i would like to keep it dry inside :) Thanks in advance and im sure ill have more question soon!!!

Sounds rather complicated :( Is the a maintenance book such as haynes out for the Corrado? PS. Any chance someone can send me a pic of a g60 engine/bay so i can compare to the one im buying as im sure theres a cover missing off a part! mailto:[email protected]

Lo all, Finally bought myself a G60. J Reg, Red with 118K on the clock. Ex-write off (doesnt bother me, rear ended and only partial damage but has been repaired) and has no service history. £1700 :) Just a few niggles though that are bothering me. The sunroof obviously hasnt been used in a while and some muppet went and raised it and now it wont go down properly on the passenger side. It goes down far enough to keep water out (i hope) but doesnt shut all the way! Any ideas what the problem may be and how much will it cost to replace as the rubber around it is looking might knackered!! 2nd problem is that someones broken the lever to move the drivers seat forward. Its sitting on the back seat. Can this be repaired or will it mean a new seat?? Its got to be repaired (rusty brake hose and welding behind radiator) to pass the MOT and needs some TLC but it has lots of potential. Wiill get Jabba Sport to do the the charger asap for peace of mind and all hoses being replaced. Lowering i, new alloys and brake disks/pads. Anything else that i should be aware of??

I remember seeing on a TV show that the spoiler can raise at 30mph as well. Ive also read you can change the speed that the spoilers activated but not sure about any of it!

try http://www.carsource.co.uk, on a standard G60 they want £895 TPFT off me and im 23 on monday. Been driving since i was 18 on a full licence but never had own insurance so ive got 0 NCB. Being lowered shouldnt make much difference to be honest!!

Sorry LJ the number plate is J15 JLP, anyone recognise it? 6 owners makes 1 every 2 years, i imagine some people just sell them on when the charger needs replacing/rebuilding. Going to get a HPI check on it i think ASAP!!

Just been to see the car but couldnt take it out at that time for a test drive. Its in good condition and looks to of had a respray (read end). It got 117,160 miles on the clock. Its got a few oil leaks from pipes in the engine bay and one of them is actually taped on to the connector. The interior and exteriorr looks really well looked after and theres no visible rust anywhere. Due to a flat battery i couldnt start it up or test the turbo using the buying guides suggestions, so im going back with my own battery to test it. The major thing thats worrying me is that it may be an import. To the right of the steering wheel there is a small plastic square that had german writing on it. I didnt get to check out the log book as they were closing. How will this effect getting parts and insurance?? Just done a quick RAC check on it, and it came up with this: Date manufactured 30 December 1992 Number of previous owners 6 Last owner change 11 September 2003 Is 6 owners quite high??

The scrapyard is near Market Drayton, between Telford and Shrewsbury and thats a fair distance from Birminham & Leeds, but thanks for the offer. ill check that other thread too. Sometimes this scrappy will let you trade in a roadworthy car for a smashed one depending on the value of the car you want. It looks ok, and has all documents. Going to look at it later hopefully and take it for a drive :) Then if i like it im going to ask that my deposit is going to be placed against the outcome of an MOT (that ill get done) and a HPI check :) Thanks for all the advice!

Lo all, This is my first post here and i need your help. Theres a G60 down at my local scrapyard, only saw it quickly but its for sale for £1750. Going back tomoz to have a good look over it and hopefully a drive. Ive read through the buying guide which is helpful, but ive never had anything to do with superchargers before, i have no idea what an MFA is or how to use it to check boost etc. Can anyone give me any pointers?? I could just afford the car but not having to fork out for a new charger after a week :) Any help is gratefully received :) MFA
