Prick of the week award goes to . . . . . . .
willwoll100 replied to slot's topic in General Car Chat
Sorry I couldn't help but laugh!!!   -
That is correct, 1 gold star for Coxy

Think it should just be a disconnect clutch line into slave and cap it to stop fluid running out then remove and replace slave if thats the problem. The reservoir will just be the brake fluid reservoir just make sure you don't let it run to far down and let air into the system. The above is for a VR6 but I'm sure yours is the same/similar

Whats the highest ouput (BHP) you can get out of a g60?????
willwoll100 replied to doof's topic in Engine Bay
Just like to point out that NO rolling road figures are accurate in any respect when quoting @ the flywheel, plain and simple. If you want to really know what your engines putting out then put it on an engine dynamometer not a chassis one. Also air temperature/conditions can make a considerable difference. -
Just changed my gearbox one, what a nightmare to get the two 1/2" bolts out, the left one rounded off and about 3 hours later I managed to track down some stillsons small enough to get the mofo out. Many of my knuckles have no skin left on them!!!

Thanks a lot anyway Graham E, what a helpful community :D :D :D This is the story of how it happened anyway, the NS link snapped due to what I thought was it hitting the wheel. So when I got it on the ramp and tried to remove it it was jammed solid and trying to use an open ended spanner just wouldn't work. Then I went to the OS link and removed that no problem and ended up fitting the new link the wrong way as I didn't have anything to compare it to. I then had to melt the broken ones plastic end with a gas torch and used a socket to remove, fitted new upside down and here I am tonight rather embarrassed I'm happy again now though :D

I can't stop laughing at myself for being such an idiot, I just looked at a pic of a golf VR6 and the drop links on that are the other way, then I seen your post           This forum is such a wealth of knowledge even if sometimes the people who post for help can't see the wood for the trees. Thanks again, I'll be crying when my car is sold

If your right I'm going to tw@ myself, can someone with a VR6 look at there anti roll bar and either make me tw@ myself or make me even more confused please.
-
Stevemac's is a G60 where mines a VR6

Here's a pic of how close the drop links are
-
I wish they were, but the problem occured with the old ones which had been on the car for years. One of the old ones sheared off and punctured the CV boot due to hitting the rim which in turn made me notice the top mount plate being to high so I changed the top mounts and the drop links and here I am with the same problem, I'll post some drop link picks tonight.

24V Renshaw - 24V V6 - Just read the whole thread!!!!

Jay you are one mad mofo!!! But you've gotta be admired :-P -
Both of the drop links are brand new from your gaff GSF.
-
Ain't got a pic of the drop links but I can tell you now that they are virtually resting on the rim   I just can't understand what has caused this and I'm now 230 miles away from my car until saturday when I go back home
-
Here's a pic of my top mount, any ideas what the problem might be
-
As the title suggests, I thought it was the top mounts which I replaced but there's still a finger sized gap under the top mount plate and the drop links are still far to low? What sort of distance should the links be from the wheel, I'm running my VR6 on 17's Thanks again.
-
Sorted it wasn't leaking after all, I'm such a muppet!!!
-
As the description, it's the NSF calliper, how is the piston sealed? Can you get a seal kit and could I get one tomorrow?
-
I always get the geometry terms round the wrong way, I've got a 4 wheel laser alignment at work but thats 235 miles away and I don't know whether I should risk it? And by the way when setting up toe in/out using laser's is crap, not sure about setting the camber though.
-
Where's the best place to get your castor angle set-up as I've just replaced both of mine on my VR6? I'm in the North East, I've also lowered the car by about 40mm any advice would be great. Could someone tell me what the settings should be for my suspension settings? Cheers again

There's no gasket between the gearbox and the engine, where the oil is coming from might be behind the cover plate, remove that and investigate before it causes some major damage if this is the problem.
-
If you can handle a souless sound track then go and get one, I only had mine for 6 months but the sound was embarrassing especially when a old guy asked me to blip it  So I bought something a whole lot louder
-
You wanna hope that you haven't got a hole in your bell housing as thats what happened to me and it looked exactly the same
-
Yeah I've got standard shocks, I've ordered one from VW but at the time I was just going to make one. Thanks anyway :D

Anyone know what the thread is on a VR6 strut, the bottom nut is threaded so I either ned to make a new one or get one from some where. It's the nut that bolts the bearing down not the top nut.
