  1. I've got a J reg 2.0 16v its done approximatley 106K and on average its achieving 300 miles more or less on the nose when just hitting the red on the fuel gauge. it has a capacity of 15.4 gallons .. thats proberbly about 22 mpg as i fill her up just on the red , is this good fuel consumption?? cheers guys!
  2. Its a .. J reg, 1992,2.0L 16v.. basically i was wrong before, just had it over my mates inspection pit and although the exhaust has 2 fixing points at the front of the box my car only has one point to hang it off, and one at the rear of the box. Anyway thats not the problem, its my mechanic he obviously decided that the rear axle would make a good exhaust support  anyway it will be back in soon it needs an mot  .. by the way where do you buy the reinforced rubber hangers from? cheers guys
  3. Cheers for the reply everything you've said makes sense.... checked the underside of the car and the bend in the pipe isn't directly over the axle but there seems to be 2 inches of clearance? but after the bend near the start of the back box there is only one hanger i'm thinkin there should be two?? but i did notice after the manifold change the end of the exhaucst did protrude much further out at the back of the car ... which i guess sits much more badly over the exhaust. by the way could anyone give me part numbers etc for the steel fixing which fit to the underside of the car and hang the rubbers off of? all your help appreciated :)
  4. when i bought my corrado it already had the scorpion exhaust and worked fine, but since i have had the manifold changed its been a nightmare its basically knocking the bodywork, its been back to my mechanic twice and he cant seem to sort the problem in the mean time i'm being driven mad by the constant racket! ive looked at the supports and all that seems to be holding it in place is one rubber hanger shouldn't it have a strap running around the whole of the backbox? and can anyone please recommend a mechanic in the southwest region- truro/bodmin area? a mechanic that knows about corrados? many thanks guys :)
  5. Many thanks for the pics of the alternator.... found the problem and it is the brush pack! :D

    WING MIRRORS

I looked into that.. but i found two terminals fixed to the mirror glass which inturn connected to the heated system, and the glass itself is not quite the same shape. there also seemed to be some backing on the back of the original mirror glass which is proberbly vital to the whole wing mirror heating set up which obviously my mirror glass didn't have... still i'm goona investigate this further.. i'm not alltogether happy with it like this

    WING MIRRORS

i would have thought that was the case :( - as there is now a sticky pad between the heated mirror and the new glass but hey its not a bad interim measure while i pursuade myself to go and purchase the proper items from the stealers.. as this could take time, anyway i'm sure there must be similiar heated mirrors on different cars, im gona check the scrappys out first.

    WING MIRRORS

Got the wing mirror glass through from Halfords today the order numbers are: left hand side SRG -247, right hand side SRG-246 and they are made by SUMMIT. they basically fit over existing with a sticky pad and for 6.49 each it cant be bad :)
  9. i would position the sub enclosure on the nearside, but i have some sort of metal contraption with a rubber strap which didn't hold anything when i bought the car but it fits a first aid kit perfectley, i presumed this is what it was orinally used for? also with the help of some right angled brackets i've managed to fit a 1kg chrome fire extinguisher to the metal contraption meaning i've avoided having to drill any additional holes which i hate. can anyone shed any light on this? cheers guys
  10. cheers ... but i think im gona go for some brand spankers, sorry about the polo tho?! :(
  11. Hi ! ... hope i'm not to late, i'm interested in a 11 inch sub enclosure for the right side of the boot space, is this possible and if so, how much does it eat into the boot? by the way never done a GB before do we approach audioscape when ordering?? much appreciated
  12. Thanks for replying so quickly!!! well no shocks from the car as yet, lamp went out when i pulled in off the motorway- and car was just ideling, but seemed to come on again 2 minutes after that when the car was driving up an incline?? cheers
  13. Coming back from town today my generator lamp came on and also went off , but mostly stayed on, i've also noticed before now that the illumination on my head unit has dimmed. whats the most likely answer to this? and is it safe to drive it in this condition? cheers guys! 2.0L 16v 1992, 106 000 miles

    WING MIRRORS

My wing mirrors need replacing so i decided to phone the dealers and they gave me a price of 45.00 quid for the left mirror and 35.00 quid for the right one. im thinkin this is a bit on the expensive side and is this the only way forward or could i go down the scrap yard and find a vw with the same size mirror glass? cheers in advance!

    CORROSION

Hi there- before i start just like to say amazing web site! anyway hope someone can help?- please... i have had my corrado for 6 months and have been spending many a sunday avy polishing and generally lavishing my corado in lots of TLC. Only to find 2 months ago blisters on the paint protruding from underneath a seal on one of the rear passenger side windows , i treated it by popping the blisters and rubbing them down , then applying LOCTITE 7503 RUST REMEDY and using a touch up stick. my question is ... is this enough and should i try and investigate it from inside the car, in other words on the other side of the panel in question? MANY THANKS GUYS!
