  1. I think that has to be a VW trait - I still get a buzz when I take my Mk1 Cabriolet out - its a real head turner.
  2. Just fixed the electric mirrors - just took the switch out, as someone said. It turned out that the switch was not working, so I took it apart, cleaned all the contacts, and tested it. Works fine now. Had the Instrument pod out too, to check out why the MFA was not lighting up - are the bulbs a dealer only purchase? or can I get them at any car accessory shop?
  3. Cheers for the info Guys. SHould be a lot turn out for Newark, Marcus. Have to take you out in the Storm - really get the Corrado bug going in you!
  4. The fuse runs the seats and washers, so it isnt that, going to take the switch apart tomorrow then
  5. Just got back from a night drive ,and have also found the MFA back light is not working either. Not bad really, just the 2 minor problems to fix, and she'll be good as new! There are already some pics floating around this site somewhere. Its the Storm that was for sale near Aberdeen at £9.5K, - needless to say, I didn't pay that much!!
  6. CheersMatt, will start there. Do the doors panels just pop off, like on the Golf? I'd quite happily rip the interior apart on the Cabrio to fix things, but this seems a little more sturdy, and I dont want to end up breaking things.
  7. Cheers for the input guys - I used to be an electronics engineer, so shouldnt have too many problems fixing it, but not so keen on ripping panels off! Dave - She's Mystic blue, a few stone chips on the bonnet, but thats to be expected. I might look into a respray for it. It's certainly a different drive from my mk1 Cab, I think I'm going to enjoy this! Liquid Leather? sounds like a sex aid! Hmmmmmm  Where can I get some?
  8. The day has finally arrived, and I went off to collect my Corrado Storm this morning. Other than the electric mirrors not working (is this a common fault?) it is as sweet as a nut, and I was wholly impressed by the performance of it! Got it back home and spent a few happy hours valeting the interior - just need to find some "new leather" fragrance :D will save the exterior for a better day. What an awesome machine, I cant stop grinning to myself- is this the sane action of a 31 year old man?
  9. the mr2 turbo was only available as a grey import, it had the same engine as the Celica GT4, that pushed out 220BHP in standard import form. It was a twin inlet ceramic turbo in these cars, and good for an apparent 165mph!! all through the back wheels an a very light car! was a frightening notor in the wet, but an awesome machine in the dry! Still not a VW though 8)
  10. price sounds great to me, seeing as I have just bought a VR6! looks like it could be a worthwhile investment! :D

    Storm Query

LOL, I was only kidding about the engine mod, though 300 BHP sounds awesome!. This is going to be kept original. The calipers are in the original clour, I was just wondering as I had seen the picture with the storm with red calipers. I know it may sound really petty, but I have a heavily altered Mk1 Cabriolet (see link in sig) and I wanted this to go the other way. I will be trying to find an original stereo at some point, too. I have bought the car, and pic it up on Saturday. The weekend can't come quick enough! On another note - is there a Storm register, Like the Campaign register for the golf?

    Storm Query

Its definatly a Storm, its actually the one that has been on Autotrader at 9.5k, for a while, but having dropped the price enough I decided to go for it. There is nothing about this that makes me think it's not a storm, its even in the Mystic Blue, which is only a storm colour. I just dont want to alter it in anyway to detract from the original look of the car. Even down to the colour of the calipers. I do like the sound of 300+BHP though, I think a few engine mods would be an acceptable alteration.

    Storm Query

Cheers Jim, I think you could be right, looking at this web page it would appear the blue storm is privatly owned and the lacquer on the calipers looks new, but the green storm is in original condition in a museum, and does not have them painted. I ask because the Storm I pick up on saturday, looks to be 100% original, except for the sony head unit, and I want to keep it that way. I think it will benefit the value in future years.
  14. I have seen a few publicity pictures of Storms with red calipers, and also read somewhere that they do NOT have red calipers. Were they originally sold with them, and have maybe worn off, was it an option, or is it just something some Storm owners have done? It would make a bit of sense, to go with the red badging. Does anyone know for definate, the real answer? Ads
  15. I just had a quote from first alternative, for £431 fully comp, protected for my Storm. Not bad for 31 with 6 points. Think I'll be taking them up on the offer. Hows the hunt for a corrado going then Marcus?
  16. Having just purchased a Storm, I found this article a very interesting read. The main reason I went for this car is, as many others have said, the exclusivity of it. How many of these cars will be on the road 20 years from now? especially in a completly unmolested guise. I also own a Mk1 Golf cabriolet Sportline edition. There were only 457 (approx) sold in this country, and are becoming rarer by the year. These cars fetch more than a standard golf cabriolet, so in future years the Storm should enjoy the same fortune. To put it another way - you can buy a Rolex in Turkey for a tenner, but you will always know its not the real thing.

Cheers for the warm welcome guys. Bally that is one low 'raddo you have there. I have a mk1 golf cab slammed to the floor too - totally impractical but looks like business. here's a link if you fancy a look.

The thread fairly sums up the car, it really is in good condition, and the leather looks hardly worn. I did actually get him to come down on the price by a substantial amount before I went and viewed it, as it was quite a journey. And TBH, it is a rare car, so I think the prices should hold rather well on it. I have read a few articles saying the Storms are fetching far in excess of the second hand value." Many going for over the £10k mark" - I didnt actually realise there were "many" out there though! I guess they must be well hidden...

11-12 GRAND!!!! I knew they were fetching good money, and far more than the standard VR6, but that is a lot more than I paid for it. I have only just got back from viewing it, and do not actually collect it until the 25th. But it really is in mint condition, save for a few stone chips on the bonnet, but then every car I own has stone chips on the bonnet! It has all the MOT's, HPI checks, Receipts and stamps in the book, which means a lot more to me than a few chips that can be easily repaired. I will endevour to get as many pics as I can posted up, when I collect it. But it is totally stock except for a set of Khan 17" alloys, that I am having removed and replaced with the original BBS alloys that have just been refurbished. The only other alteration is a Kenwood minidisc and 10 stack cd player. I'm quite looking forward to getting back on the road with a V6. Nothing like the roar of a 6 cylinder engine to make you want to go faster!!

Hi Guys (and girls?) Some of you may know me from GolfGTI.co.uk I've been into dubs for a while and have a Mk1 Cab, but have just bought a 96 Corrado Storm, so I can tuck the cab up for winter. However, I know I wont be satisfied with leaving it alone, so was wondering if anyone had any advice as to what I could do. It is completly standard with FWVSH at only 80000 miles. I dont really want to alter the look, as I have done this to my cab, but would like to squeeze some more ponies out of the 6 cylinders. Hope to be in here a bit more now I've got the Storm to keep me entertained Ads
