I'm going to second G60Dubs suggestion of http://www.GolfGTI.co.uk, it's a really friendly forum with a lot of technical knowhow to be used.

I think had I bought a standard VR6, then I would have gone for this mod, but because my Storm is in its original wrapper, I dont want to do any visual mods to the styling. I agree, they do look really good, far better than the original ones. I just want to keep the original look, and this minor mod of a spoiler is an acceptable upgrade, with some good results.

Apologies, still fumbling my way around here! :?

I have read with interest, the general feeling on lack of quality of the Corrado wipers. Shortly after acquiring my C, I drew the same conclusion, but was unwilling to fork out over 50 notes for the Lupo upgrade. So taking a gamble, I figured all that was needed was more pressure on the blade as it sweeps. So I purchased a Bosch 19s blade from Halfords, in a hope that the incorporated spoiler would help provide the extra downforce. So far, the results have been very good, and at "private road" speeds in heavy rain, I have had no problems with clearing the water from the windscreen. I know I may be one of the lucky ones that this has proven to be an economical fix for, but at £10 for the Blade, it was certainly a lot cheaper than a full Lupo upgrade! So for those who haven't gone down the new arms and blade route, I would suggest giving these a try first. You could save some cash!

I went to AmD last week and had a Ram Air induction kit, milltek exhaust, larger throttle bodies and a re-map. the Power was only boosted from 186 to 202bhp with the remap, but I was unsure what it was before the other parts were fitted. The engine is till quite "tight" apparently, and I was told to expect some more as it continues to run in. Have to admit I was chuffed with the new feel of the car, but am already considering my next step in tuning.

Cheers Chaps. Hopefully if it just circuitry, then I should be a ble to repair it myself. I'll have a go today and let you know how things progress. Thanks Ads

Whilst travelling back today, I thought my rear spoiler hadnt risen, so I put it up via the switch. When I slowed down, it did not lower, but would do so by the switch again. Before I go tearing the spoiler to bits trying to find what is wrong, could anyone offer any advice as to what may be at fault. It was fine this afternoon, but stopped working automatically this evening. Cheers Ads

I want to make only a few minor perfomance alterations to my Storm. I am thinking of just changing the exhuast and having an induction kit installed, then an AmD VR6 Kit (big throttle body and rechip) I would like the exhuast and induction kit done first, but am not really sure what to go for. I am not after something that looks great, or sounds good - this is all about getting the power out. Has anyone got any reccomendations as to what induction kit/exhuast combination I should go for? Excellent clip - wouldnt want to be a Calibra or Probe driver now!!!

Technically, they are not road legal over here, and I have heard of a few people who have been fined for it. I think it is a bit pedantic of the traffic police really, but then its not as if they have any proper work to do with the amount of bloody cameras about :x
-
what place did you get that from dont mind me asking?? Got it from these guys -http://www.make-your-own.co.uk/makeaplate.php I bought some for my Cabriolet, last year, from them too.
-
I have just done the same - taken my mk1 cab off the road, and put 9 years NCB to the Corrado - but my brokers say some companies will take this into account and give you a discount. As you only earn it on one policy, you cant split it between two
-
Only paid £199 + VAT and transfer fee - thought it was pretty cheap really. I liked the 1 in 500 reference a lot.

Anybody got private plates on thier C? Just ordered one for my Storm - L50 OVW A bit of careful spacing should get it to read I.500 VW :D
-
That clears that up then - Hmmm, makes me think he is even more stupid than I originally did!
-
I know it ISN'T a real one, but I would have thought he would have put a Storm steering wheel in there - instead it is a Rallye wheel, or do I have the wrong one in my Storm? it's a leather bound 3 spoke, with the vw logo at the bottom
-
Nothing wrong with Golfs, especially the mk1. If it wasnt for that, where would we be today? Probably driving a Honda or Peugeot
-
Marcus - I can tell you now, the VR6 is a group 19!!!! That was shock to my bank balance...
-
I would have thought the cossie would have been quicker, but its nice to know that the corrado would get to its destination with the car in one piece, and with all the interior trim in place! A friend of mine has an Escort Cosworth up for sale, that was in my price range when I bought the Storm. Bottom line though - Its still a ford, and every other escort has a whale tale on the back now!
-
I just insured my VR6 with First Alternative - unbeatble quote of £430 fully comp, protected NCB. not bad at 31 with 6 points. I would recommend giving them a call, as they were streets ahead of the nearest quote.

I've got a house in Forres, just east of Elgin. Hoping to get along to a few meets with the Moray Dub Club, that is local to the area. When I travelled back from collecting the car, I drove through Aberdeen. On the way dopwn to the Kentucky roundabout, I passed a block of flats with a blue G60 parked at the bottom - is that anyone from here?
-
Sounds a good idea, never thought of that. I still have the original first aid kit in there though, still all sealed up and un-used. Sits snuggly in the glove box now, and is easliy accesible when on the move - because 10 CD's is never enough!!
-
Thats the Head unit wired in, multi changerin the glove box, and remote done - quite a productive today! just the bonnet to go! Think I'll leave that to the experts though.

Iain - Although I am from the south west, and often get to Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire area, I actually live in the north of Scotland now. This was one of the reasons I went for a Corrado, so as I didnt have to drive my beloved mk1 Cabrio all winter! So the journey to see the car was only a couple of hours away. The fact that I probably paid a couple of hundred more than I would have if I went to view one of the other Storms in England, doesn't really matter, as I would have spent more in petrol, or travelling costs, to see them. Cheers for the info and help guys - I also took the clocks out again, after a quick trip to Halfords, for another dash light bulb. All the minor quirks are sorted now. Just need to swap the MD head unit for a CD unit, a respray of the bonnet, and I will be 100% happy with it.
