  1. You beat me to it - I was about to make a similar comment. ;)
  2. Mine can be found at http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=128 Basically if you take into account depreciation, fuel, repairs, servicing, tyres and upgrades (but not tax and insurance) then my car has cost me almost £48k over 10 or so years.
  3. Ah, Carlos Fandango! You'll be far too young to remember that though.
  4. I think you should change the wheels though - those look a bit small. ;)

    Gaz suspension

Cheap is a relative term. The Gaz Gold setup that Kev is referring to and that he and I are both running retails for nearer £1000 inc VAT.

    Gaz suspension

Yes, I am running exactly the same setup as Kev, although my car is much more standard than his and also has a different weight distribution as I don't have all the stuff in the boot that he has (water tank, amps, etc.) I'm also on standard VR6 15" wheels at the moment. And we all have different tastes and expectations from suspension as well, of course. :)

    Gaz suspension

I've been running the Gaz setup for just over a week now, which is granted a short time but long enough to form an opinion, I hope. So far my feeling is that the primary ride is an improvement over the Koni TA/H&R setup I had before with the Gaz coping far better with potholes, recessed drains and the like. However, secondary ride is far worse - far more rumble and NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). As you would expect from 2-way + height adjustable coilovers, there is a lot of tuning to be done so I reserve final judgement until I have played with the settings some more but right now I am seriously considering returning to a new or reconditioned version of my Koni/H&R setup simply because of the secondary ride and NVH. If you're looking for ultimate handling and adjustability, then the Gaz are undoubtedly brilliant and someone may pick up a bargain if I choose to sell mine on.
  8. I don't know what they are, but they make me feel a bit ill just looking at them. Still, each to their own, eh? :)
  9. What are those alloys, DEL VR6?
  10. It's pretty disgusting and I feel sorry for the workers as they will not get a redundancy payment. This sort of sharp business practice is perfectly legal but it damn well shouldn't be. You should not be able to put a company into administration, write off all your debts and liabilities, and then buy back the assets again. It stinks.

    Gaz suspension

Kev (cheesewire) is running Gaz Gold coilovers and I'm picking my car up tomorrow from Stealth having had the same kit fitted. I'll let you know what I think. Gaz are becoming increasingly popular in TVR circles and now that they have a kit for the Corrado (down in part due to Kev blazing the path) I can see this becoming more popular. You're right though, they are expensive - you're not going to get much change out of £1k inc VAT (although I was fortunate to be able to get a discount on that)
  12. How will you stop water ingress into the rear engine bay at speed with the roof scoop? Or is this not a problem?
  13. Yes. They group tested it with a few other mental cars including a bonkers Elise with an Audi 2.7TT V6 out of the previous generation RS4. Oh yes. There has also been a twin engined Golf with a 2.8L VR6 at one end and a 2.9L VR6 at the other. Not forgetting the Z-cars Minis with 2 x GSXR-1000 bike engines in them. Actually, I seem to recall an article in either AutoCar or EVO that listed all the twin-engine cars they had been able to find. Edit: Looks like Z-Cars are working on a twin-engined Ultima now.
  14. Finally got round to updating my Corrado page. It's only really an interim freshen-up as it is still using FrontPage (spit) but I've done the following: Removed the crappy pic background and gone for a solid blue[/*:m:26ea6] Tidied up and partially rewritten the Background page[/*:m:26ea6] Added descriptions to the pics in the Gallery (more pics to come)[/*:m:26ea6] Added a description of what I'm having done at Stealth at the moment on the Modifications page[/*:m:26ea6] Tidied up the Links page[/*:m:26ea6] Ok, the site still isn't going to win any design awards and still desperately needs to be rewritten, but at least it's slightly less embarrassing than it was before. :) Comments and constructive criticisms welcome
  15. It's 102 Mine is a subscription copy, but past form has shown that's not a guarantee of getting it before the newsagents so I would imagine it's available to buy now.
  16. Well, apart from having to gas up every 12 mins and change tyres every 15 mins. ;)
  17. Kev was tearing a strip off Gordan Murray for have a sack of spuds on his shoulder over the Veyron. ;) (It was actually far better worded and reasoned than that. :) )
  18. Yep - that's the one. :)
  19. Saw a letter in this month's EVO from a reader with the same real name as our resident "I'm going to keep it standard, honest guv" merchant cheesewire Was that you, Kev? :)
  20. No idea. Sounds a bit strange to me. The H&R Coilovers are, from memory, only adjustable for ride height. You have no control over damping firmness, bound, rebound, or whatever. They'll also be a lot firmer and less compliant than, say, separate H&R springs and Koni TA dampers (which is what I've got on at the moment and have done for the past 6 years, but currently replacing with a Gaz Gold custom setup).
  21. Although it could be a simple case of getting the alarm settings tweaked to hold the 'key turned' signal for long enough for the closure to work. I was talking to an alarm engineer who told me that's all my Sigma SG30 does in order to give full closure.
  22. You have to hold the key over for ages for everything to close on the key, BTW.
  23. You can have one or the other. Which is more important to you? :)
  24. It would seem that you don't need a Corrado-specific one as the Corrado lends itself to a universal bracket that attaches to the LHS of the radio's DIN chassis which is pretty much where I would have sited it anyway. My cheap car kit install, which started out with a bargain of £17 for a proper Nokia CARK-91 on eBay (inc postage) has now grown to £44.98 now that I've sourced the bracket, audio mute box and tax disc aerial. Oh well, it's only money. ;)
