  1. I can only guess that Vince intends to map the car to run on SUL only.
  2. I dunno. That's just what Vince told me. Maybe the slightly higher CR makes it more prone to pinking? Or maybe the only way to take advantage of the slightly higher CR is to map the car to need SUL otherwise there is no gain? I suspect the latter.
  3. No, of course not. But my TVR's allegedly lazy old Rover V8 blips like a race car which is perfect for heel and toe and is just so responsive. Obviously I'm not expecting even that out of the VR6 engine but it is a bit sluggish for the revs to rise and fall and I was hoping that a lightened flywheel might address this without too many downsides. I've heard some people say that it ruins the character of the engine and makes it lumpy and recalcitrant at idle. Would you agree with that?
  4. The head is going to be off anyway and the gasket is going to be changed anyway, so it's more a case of "why not?" than anything. The only downside is that I'll need to run on Super-Unleaded whereas for the past 10 years the car has run on nothing but standard 95RON.
  5. Isn't this the classic and well-known ABS sensor failure problem?
  6. Tell me more. I'd like to make the VR6 more "blippable" as there is quite a lot of flywheel effect. I mentioned a lightened flywheel to Vince at Stealth but he didn't seem to enthusiastic about them. So could you tell me about the advantages and disadvantages?
  7. Same here, but since they have now done 60k-odd miles and were fitted over 6 years ago they're pretty much shagged out. I also find them rather crashy at low speeds. Having looked around I've found that Kev and I have very similar opinions on many aspects of the Corrado including the suspension, so I'm going for the Gaz Gold setup like he is currently running and hoping that gives me the handling I want whilst improving comfort and ride.
  8. Indeed. In fact, for NA installs that's an advantage. Vince has just offered me a thinner metal gasket as a NA tuning option because it raises the CR. Has anyone else done this and able to comment on it?
  9. I missed this post originally. The trouble is that I've seen the Compomotive MO's in 17's on another owner's car and, well, I just don't like the way the spokes seem to bulge outwards. I know it sound a bit silly, but there is just something about them I just don't like. :( All I really want are the original Speedlines just in 16" not 15", or the next best thing obviously. Edit: Edited for spelling
  10. If you don't want someone to use the "coffee beans" smiley then don't behave like one. If the cap fits, wear it.
  11. Ok, perhaps instead of "abusive" I should have said "abrasive". Is that better? PS. You really should try and chill out a bit, mate. You'll burst a blood vessel if you take all the bollocks posted on internet fora too seriously. :)
  12. I try never to enter a battle of wits with an unarmed man, so I will decline to comment on either double-6s' posts nor the two abusive PMs he's sent me.
  13. Indeed. And, not least, persuading the owner of the car to let you have a go in it too. These aren't new cars where dealers have demonstrators, you know. :)
  14. Well, ok, but we both know I could have got it sorted out much quicker only the weather was nice and I was taking the TVR to work every day. Seriously though, it has been a monumentally reliable car. It's not been like poor Glenn's first Corrado was where something was going wrong 1 or 2 times a month. With mine it's been more like 1 or 2 times a year, if that. And earlier on in its life nothing went wrong for years.
  15. I understand that some Corrados, particularly the auto for some reason, came with headlamp washers? Major omission not making those standard, I reckon. Can they be retro-fitted?
  16. Guess the original owner of mine must have then, because I've had very few problems in 10 years of ownership.
  17. Good advice, but difficult to achieve in practise unfortunately. :( Kev and I seem to have a similar outlook on mods, it would seem, and I know of Gaz from TVR circles and they have a reasonable following (although considered a budget choice for people not wanting to shell out for Nitron) so I may have a punt at the Gaz coilovers he is running. Or I may just replace my current H&R springs and Koni dampers with like-for-like. Anyway, I seem to have hijacked this thread a bit so I'll back out now. :)
  18. Thanks. I need to make a decision on suspension by Saturday so I'll look into these.
  19. Are they proper 3-way adjustable dampers or just ride-height adjustable like so many coilovers?
