  1. Cheers mate - relays first!!!
  2. Didnt hear any clicking + tobe honest the pump doesnt sound noisey on start-up either! I think fuel pump relay is 167? Not sure what ecu relay is?
  3. For last 2wks now i've had a strange loss of power at intervals when driving my VR6! It seems to be getting up to power ok but when coming off the gas it feels like its being strangled and sometimes its actually cuts out! Its as if its being starved of fuel at certain moments - not all the time - if i wait a minute after it cuts out i can then re-start the car and drive away! Its very intermittent - but it has happened on the motorway at 70mph - engine just died(lucky i was in the left-hand lane) - pulled onto hard shoulder, waited a min and then drove off again!!! About 10mths ago i did change cam + crank sensors. Would a blocked fuel filter do this? What fuel pumps have i got + how many on this 1994 VR6?
  4. Not so!!! Ignition coil at fault - huge crack on the underside of terminal 1! Replaced myself this afternoon - goes like a dream again!!! :D :D :D
  5. My VR6 been running quite rough from start-up (until it warms up!) recently i.e. cold damp weather! On the way home from work tonight the engine cut out - on re-starting the engine there was a significant loud burbling sound from the exhaust - as if the exhaust had blown! This continued for the half a mile journey to my house - there was also a big loss of power from the engine! There is mayo on the filler cap but nothing on the dip stick - coolant level seems fine albeit checking with a torch - i can have a better look tomorrow in daylight! Not sure if these signs suggest head gasket or exhaust failure?
  6. Will i need to provide any adjustment values for the alignment process when taking to a garage? (Or any other information?). Anyone know of a good laser alignment garage near to Swansea or S Wales area?
  7. Just fitted coilovers on my VR and understand its best to leave them settle down for a week or two and then adjust the desired height BEFORE having the car wheel aligned! What exactly needs to be done - camber , tracking , 4 wheels aligned??? Second question is - would you wreck the tyres using the car before the alignment i.e. during settle down period? Third question how much expected to pay and where to go for alignment?
  8. What would be the best top mounts to use with coilovers on the VR - standard or something else?
  9. Been told they definately fit a VR6 and that the ride is quite comfortable - made by JOM - and yes "cheap"!!! :D But "you get what you pay for" stands true with these or what???
  10. Any one had any experience with JOM Coilovers for a VR6? What is the cheapest "ok" coilover for a VR? By ok i mean not too hard for our roads!
  11. Turns out the wires to the Lambda had corroded and broke - not sure if this alone would have caused the erratic running - to late if so - new MAFs been fitted by mechanic!!! :? Told mechanic to keep the MAF that was replaced - I'll check it when i get the car back!
  12. Im in Swansea. VW part is £110 + VAT! Been told to stay away from cheep "e-Bay" far east part that sell in the region of £60 :nono:
  13. The MAF seems tobe the culprit - how much for a new one? Could also be the lambda but the bad MAF might be making it not operate correctly! Change MAF first then see how it goes!
  14. Im in S Wales unfortunetly but i know someone with VagCom - hes very busy but ill get in touch today to see if he can at least give the car a scan to point me in the right direction! Ill report back my findings.
  15. Got big problem on my 94 VR6(Coilpack type) :( The cars revs are absolutely erratic at low revs - only stabilizing when throttling hard - when waiting at lights the engine will rev itself then die then rev again etc until it finally cuts out! Another symtom is that the car frequently shakes violently at these low revs! The only thing that i've done is to change the plugs - which were quite bad (overfuelling?) - but the symtoms persists! Its so bad that i've decided not to use the car now - its almost undrivable! Done a few search words here - couple of things mentioned! Where do i start???
  16. Can anyone give me the part number for the removal tool as the oe part gone missing from my VR :brickwall:
  17. Having problem with this plastic lug on the drivers door - mines popping out all the time aswell :( Anyone know where i can get another one from? :? Cheers in advance.....
  18. Has anyone come across these -product_coilover.png[/attachment:7jbag7wz]
  19. In the same boat with my susp. - i have a 94' VR with Konis + H&R springs. Frankly the car is not low enough - the Konis were on the car when bought - on inspection the rears are not the height ajust. type i so need to move the base plate at the rear! The springs are now a yr old from new and have had time to bed down - but there still too much space in the arch(also running 17'). The cost effective option is for me to buy a new set of base plate adj. Konis for the rear - HOW MUCH & WHERE FROM? Then to buy some JOM caps for front end to get it 10mm lower - which i think will look about right! Ideally id dish current set up and go with KW coilies - what would be the diff in price between the 2 options?

    Tyres deflating

I've got this prob with my VR6, but im now used to "topping up" the air every few wks or so. Garage said it was down to the wheels being to large for the tyres - im running 205 rubber on 8' wheels for that slightly stretched look 8). Combined with the heavy front end of the VR i accept the minor problem - i've tried wider rubber but :gag:
  21. Wheres best place to order Koni's from to go with my H&R's - i need 2 rear dampers with height adj base plates?
  22. Right have checked the shocks - NO height adj base plate - they are just welded with no circlip or grooves - just bog standard TA's :(climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfShock1.JPG[/attachment:7uet0rl7]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfShock2.JPG[/attachment:7uet0rl7] I can now either buy 2 new Koni TA's with adj base plates (how much?) OR Buy lower springs - Pi or likewise - and hope i get right effect! OR Bite the bullet and buy coilies - a midprice set with height adj would be fine! What you all think?
  23. That looks alot lower than mine tbh - are they 15' or 16' rims - im running 17' x 8' I could in effect purchase Pi springs and match them with the Koni's - Yeh? Otherwise i can buy the lowering cups and reset the rears a notch lower - can i see this circlip on the shock if i remover the rear wheel just to check i've got the right Koni's?
  24. What do i look for to determine if these are the Konis that you can alter the height (of base plate) on - these have got screws at the top to alter the hardness of the shock. Are the rear only adjustable (base plate) if the similar TA's are fitted to the front? Im not really familiar with the range of Konis (and differing types!) as these were on the car when i purchased it - i added the H&R springs soon after buying it! Would buying these lowering spring cups for the front - and dropping rears - affect the ride quality by much? How much are the lowering cups?
