  1. That's cool, how did you find that out? You work at the DVLA or something? My concern was that they may have scrapped it for parts as they had a G60 in parts in a barn. Might have to do an electoral roll lookup...
  2. The wheels were genuine BBS 17's, not sure of the model but don't think they were of TT fame.
  3. Yeah, I found I was getting a bit fed up with Milton Keynes. The place had changed a lot since I moved there in '95, not always for the better.
  4. Hi Bill, Bally and the rest of you all! Yeah it's been a while since I was around. Life has chucked a few obstacles at me which in the last 18 months has seen me go from happy Corrado owner in Milton Keynes to TDI estate owner living in my own home in Devon, plus I'm now a Dad! It's scary how fast it can all happen!
  5. Hi everyone, it's a blast from the past but I wondered if anyone knew the whereabouts of, or any stories of, my old corrado? I sold it on here/migweb/Mk1 astra forum in Feb 2005 to Jason Sanders. Or more accurately to his dad. I know they lived in Devon and now that I also live in Devon I often wonder if I'll see it again. I just wondered if anyone knew anything about it, whether they've owned/scrapped/seen it etc since then.... "J432GJX" - Yellow 1.8 16v. Distinctive things would be the removal of standard mirrors, delocked and wolfsburg badged... As pictured:
  6. Well I would have done just quick but it requires another registration and I don't see much point in registering, using it once, then not again. If anyone would like to upload the pics go for it. I'll plan to take them offline early next week. Bally, sure was a nice day out. Very amusing the way after we all had a fast drive to Willen Lake was followed by us all lifting bonnets to top up oil & water... lol
  7. Hi everyone, you may or may not remember the Milton Keynes meet up in January 2005? Well since then I've had the pictures available on my website.... however since I no longer own a corrado :-( and need the webspace I'm gonna have to remove them... SO, I'm giving anyone who wants it, a chance to download the pictures before I delete them. Let me know if it's been useful or if you need more time etc as if I don't hear anything I may take them off before you've got em. Mine was the yellow 16v with DTM alloys and the mini corrado on parcel shelf. (Sold in February). http://www.golddustmedia.co.uk/corrado/ ... gelist.htm Bye bye everyone! (Might comeback if anyone spots a mint Corrado with TDi transplant for under £3k.... I know, I know "dream on").
  8. My first car, a ford orion  , had the reg E74 FBM. Once it got vandalised my mates nick named it "The Fully Battered Motor" ! My mk1 astra GTE was sprayed Corrado blackberry pearl and had a huge zorst, my parents referred to it as "The purple burbler". Had a Golf with the letter NVK in the reg, so like it was some spanish person I called "Enveekay". The best I've heard, girl at work has a Mini with "HUR" in the reg so she calls it "Ben". But now I drive an Automatic Passat so I call it "an unrewarding piece of sh*t, mundane box to get me to a job I hate, where I'm underappreciated and am wasting my life". Ok, it's not really short and catchy but it captures the character of my driving experience ;-)
  9. I blast up the M1 every night at about 5pm. J5 to J13... Not got after market rear lights though...

    RODENTS!!!!

I was gonna offer the 2 solutions in 1 answer.... Open sun roof Point in garden hose Turn on tap and fill car with water... Not only do you kill the mouse but you find the leak that let him get in there in the first place!
  11. During my uni days I did quite a lot of Cider and E, loved it
  12. I used to let myself into the teacher accounts on the Novell account system then draw naughty pictures of them and save them there! :norty: When the IT teacher began asking who did it I could barely keep a straight face...
  13. I used to be REALLY into computers right up to 1998 when I got a job in computing.... Now I work as a developer/consultant/scapegoat and would do virtually ANY other job that paid the same. SO miserable and bored in IT these days, want to train as an electrician...
  14. Dude, the fat kid jumping about is really scary...
  15. My local dealer has 2 businesses. The dealership and in a different location a parts only company (Wayside parts). If I go to the parts place they say things like "That's a lovely Corrado you have there..." If I go to the dealership I actually walked around for 10 minutes attempting to attract the attention of ANY member of staff but couldn't! They picked up phones or tried to flog overpriced drone cars to plain looking accountants... Eventually I muttered "f*ck it, I'll get it serviced some reputable!" as I walked out the door, that was the first eye contact I made with the staff!
  16. Maybe, I guess my daily grind up the M1 can't really compare with track day conditions, so fortunately I escape the embarissment of driving round with a sofa stretched over the front.
  17. I think I'm maybe just having difficulty visualising the finished article.... Photoshop anyone?
  18. Get one of these to match!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WD2V
  19. Wont the roller bladers hanging onto it slow you down?
  20. The coolant level sensor is part of the expansion tank, so must be replaced as a whole unit. GFS charge £14.50 plus VAT. Dunno about the temp sensors... Check the GFS website, or Euro Car parts.
  21. kerrinmay, sounds normal to me. Dunno about which should get hotter first but the coolant is water based so it can't get too hot!
  22. Not trying to scare you! If your car isn't actually overheating it's fine! I was saying that I had similar problems AFTER my head gasket failed. Then found problems with a loose wire on the supply to the fan that comes from the temp sender on the rocker cover and a faulty expansion tank. SO, I'm suggesting you check that wire and maybe replace the expansion tank, which as I said costs about £20.
  23. There is a black wire on the drivers side near the airbox that connects up to a small sensor on one of the bolts on the head/rocker cover. When that wire is earthed the fan comes on, even when engine is off. Check that it's connected properly. Mine wasnt and washing the car made a connection when that wire got wet so fan came on during washing, very confusing at first. That might explain fan being on for ages. As for cooling, mine had and still has lots of grief around this topic. I must say your quoted oil/water temps seem very high. Mine were like that until everything went horribly wrong. My engine was overheating though and yours sounds like its fine. One head gasket and more later and my temps are 90 for water and 110 for oil, in traffic on M1. Changing the expansion tank and cap proved to be worthwhile for me. German & Swedish (GFS) charged about £20 for the pair and that solved my cooling problems.
  24. No closer to working it out, but I've noticed it only happens up to 50 degrees (oil temp) as thats when the MFA starts displaying an oil temp. The engine is still using water too :-(
