  1. Same thing happens on mine so guess its normal. I find that if I press both together nothing happens
  2. crdo16v, surfin was goooood although savage undertow when it got big  saw a few people get caught out sea temp was about 22/23c so no wetsuit needed and had a few perfect 5ft and clean days 8) Can't wait to get back! The campsite http://www.pavillon-royal.com was about a minute from the beach via private access. Would def recomend it. Worth checking wheel bearings before leaving though  stevemac, def not my week but after a Friday of driving the rado things suddenly seemed better :D
  3. How’s this for bad luck? Drove Rado to Biarritz (950 miles from Plymouth) and noticed a grinding noise on arrival. Had two weeks of surfing and drove back. Grinding noise got worse so took car to garage in Dover. Had wheel bearing replaced, wishbone and then garage snapped anti roll bar drop link (not uncommon apparently). No part in Dover so took decision to get rado recovered. Rado was due to be delivered to Plymouth on Tues and was given 1.6 5 door focus (worst car I have ever driven!). Got back to Plymouth and extended hire of car to Weds as had meeting in Bournemouth. On way back from Bournemouth heard knocking noise. Pulled over to discover fan belt had shredded, wrapped itself around another belt and was smoking. Pulled into layby at Puddletown (yes it does exist) at 5pm. Got recovered at 8pm!!! and back to Plymouth at 11pm. When recovery bloke took car off ramp he snapped the key in the ignition leaving the window open and promptly disappeared leaving me with car that I couldn’t lock. I called out another breakdown guy who took focus to secure parking and kindly dropped me off. Got home, had a beer and went to bed fed up but happy in the thought that my rado would be ready for collection the next day and thinking that things couldn’t really get any worse. Walked the three miles to the garage this morning only to find out my car had never been delivered to them. Called the recovery firm in Dover and they said that the driver had only got as far as Newton Abbot and would drop the car off later! Got quite annoyed and explained that as they were delivering my car two days later then they had said perhaps it would have been helpful to contact me! Car now done by RPB (great garage been very helpful) got it back and very happy it is a million times better then the focus despite being 15years older and having 125,000 more miles!
  4. Week commencing 12th Sep 05 spotted a green VR6 just outside Lourdes, France. Was so surpised to see it didn't have time to wave Should have taken my rado for a dip in the healing waters as it had developed wheel bearing, wishbone and antiroll bar drop link faults! That made the 650 miles a very noisy trip!
  5. I think the nicest thing I could say about this is that is has presence  Still each to their own and all that as long as he/she is happy!
  6. I got mine repainted by John Card for around £650. Would thoroughly reccomend his work to anyone in the Plymouth area. Other day a friend had her colour coded door handle nicked and he sprayed the replacement for free as I was/had been a customer and charged very little for fitting it. Million times better than the £150 quote from Renault! Only regret with respraying my car is that I have noticed every single door bash/bonnet chip  still well worth doing
  7. Price sounds good. Might be worth asking how much more a full respray would cost? might only be a few quid more bearing in mind the quote given is for quite a few panels??
  8. Cheers GIXXERUK, had a search earlier but missed those. dinkus, ta will look out for the 5.25 components if the above doesn't come off. Didn't really want to go down the sub route but it looks like I may have to compromise. cheers
  9. Hi, Have spent today trying to sort out speakers as the 15 year old factory ones are rubbish! Best suggestion so far is to get component speakers put the tweaters into the dash and wire up the door panels but 13cm speakers don't fit and apparently its not worth bothering with 10cm components. I am limited in my choice as I don't want an amp/sub, shelf speakers or to spend £140 to £180 on door pod upgrades. I am probably being to restrictive but can anyone reccomend a good solution/supplier please?? I can't take much more of my standard speakers :(
  10. Thanks to all for help. In the end the sticking a ruler behind the mirror and moving it about a lot technique worked. If only I had tried this 12 months ago. :)
  11. Thanks RW1 the diagram is very helpful. I will try removing the mirror initially but being pessimistic I suspect I will need to remove/replace the whole lot :( As the mirror won't move down I suspect the problem will be the top or bottom movement thing (although it does seem odd that only one part of the movement of the mirror has stopped working). Couldn't face it last night but will give it a go tonight.
  12. Cheers Supercharged, will give that a go tonight. I am hoping it is something simple!
  13. Hi, After having my rado for a year I have decided to fix the passenger door mirror as I am about to put my gf on the insurance and if I don't fix the mirror she will have an excuse for kerbing the wheels when parking  It all works fine on the electrical adjustment until I move it down. It gets to about mid point then pings back up if I try to adjust it any more! Anyone encountered/fixed this or got any ideas how I would remove the mirror? Any help appreciated

    Clutch going???

corradowales, Reckon will go for euro breakdown cover but I would also like to get things sorted to avoid using it, where did you get yours from? I seem to remember reading a post a while ago about a rado towed back after it was hit or taken in Spain was that yours? Despite panicking about sorting it I can't wait to get driving! (2nd Sep)

    Clutch going???

Ta. That might explain the occasional knocking noise I get from the backbox. Just passed MOT and no mention of mounts going but will get garage to check as it will presumably be cheaper than clutch. The thing is its done 130k without clutch/gearbox/mount work done so it is probably due for some money to be spent. I would normally wait until things went but would be too expensive in France.

    Clutch going???

Ta Syupercharged Excuse my complete lack of knowledge, but when you say mounts do you mean engine mounts or are there gearbox mounts?
  17. Hi, Anyone know how to check if a clutch is going?? Bought my rado a year ago and thought it was going then, as it judders slightly when I change gear but saying that it is still going and not much change??!! Reason I ask is cos taking it on 1800 mile round trip to France and will get stung if it goes abroad. Any idea on price too? its a 1990 valver Any help appreciated

    MOT Elation

Quite chuffed with my MOT result today. After 10 months of ownership put my rado in for MOT today. Only needs o/s and n/s ball joints! so chuffed had to tell someone :D not bad for a 15 year old car.

    car advice

Just got back from Renault dealer in Newton Abbot. Friend is now the proud new owner of a megane coupe 2002 13k fsh one owner and 12 mths warranty in silver. All for 6.5k (not sure if thst is good or not? plus service mot etc. After driving the puma reckon that was the better car (bit girly though) for performance but not my choice and whilst the megane doesn't drive as well it does look nice. Still reckon she should have gone for a vr6!
  21. Hi, I am helping a friend at work to choose a car. I have already talked her out of buying a city rover  and a 5 door megane. I have advised her that its best to buy a car that she as all cars cost money to run and it is easier to pay for something that you like. She likes the puma and megane coupe and has about £6k to spend. I think her choices are good but wondered if anyone had any other suggestions? or advice on the above choices? ps has to have four seats.
  22. Awesome car, love the pic of Mont St Michel with the back of the rado in shot. I bottled out of taking my rado to Biarritz in June in favour of my gf newer focus. Regretted it big time so going back again in September with the rado 8)
  23. I thought it was low from seeing other posts on here. Thing is for the last 12 months whilst it has been low it has been consistant. same with the water temp and the change has only just started. I am probably being over cautious but after my mk2 golf gti needed a new head gasket £350 for the sake of a £40 fan I am trying to be proactive. Will take it to my local friendly garage to sus it out. Thanks to all for postings
  24. On a long run the water temp is a bit above the first mark but the other day when I came off the A38 into Plymouth and drove along at about 40mph in 5th it got up to about the 3/4 mark. The fan generally seems to come on a lot more often and for a lot longer. The oil temp is about 60 on a long run which is a bit more than it has been. Hope its the weather but thought it could be the water pump on the way out ?No funny noises. Is there any way of checking the pump?
