What is G3 and G10 - I'm a novice?
-
Hi guys My car is a 93 2.0L. Its just about to clock 120K. and is time for its usual service. What jobs do you recommend having done on it? Especially suspension / bushes etc. I want to keep the car stock with VW parts so no need for coil overs/ lowering and all that stuff. Cheers Jay :)

Ye we use that on all sorts of car parts for different manufacturers to stop sqeeks. You want to see the amount they use on the X type Jags - it must be 2 dozen cans per car - I kid you not. No chance of once its set. But it does stop squeeks. Foam and felt pads, or double sided sticky pads are you best bet. :D

Just got mine replaced with a standard VW CAT, ctr and back box as the other thing had finally had it - the CAT was the original (13 years old!) No rattles, feels rock solid, sound nice, not too noisy - but you pay through the nose for the bits, and new original bits are starting to get a bit thin on the ground. Normally auto makers, make logistics parts for 13-15 years after production finishes. So my reconing is 2009 even consumerables will start to become a nightmare to find. (we should group buy all the tooling!)

Hi Guys My cars a 2L 93k. This morning after not running it for a week I fired the old girl up - no problems, but there seemed to be a ticking noise OS front - not the valves. Just wondering if this could be the alternator going through its death nell??? Any ideas would be appreciated. :D

I bought our house based on the fact that it had a decent garage that the C could go in and I could move about whilst working on the car. :D

I got a 50p piece size spot of rust in several places on the bottom of the NS door. Whats the best way of getting shut of it. Or where is a good body shop in the Preston / Lancashire area. Cheers for your help - the curse of teh corrado lives on. Jay

Could be the heatshield under the bonnet against the bulk heat. Mine came off one of the pegs and caused a similar problem. Difficult to see though unless your 14 feet tall with a really long neck as its a bit of a stretch. Cheers Jay

Waiting in anticipation for my heater matrix to blow up on a cold, foggy morning in the outside lane of the motorway  sunroof fun. rusty wheel arches, poorly fitted back box that bangs and clatters with the underside of the car. It should be a museum piece not my daily driver!!

Hi Guys This has probably been discussed. But!! Have you seen that game for the X box were you can get a Corrado SLC. I only had a brief go on a mates Xbox the other night in a rice mobile. Need to get this game. I've forgotten the name as well :-P James

Cheers Phil I forgot to mention its a 2l valver James

Hi guys The rocker cover gasket has finally packed in and causing a steady oil slick that Saddam would be proud off. What other jobs are worth doing while the top is off. Apart from cleaning all the breather pipes. :) Cheers James

sorry Henny I'll spell your name correctly!!! Jstar

Henry Forgive me for being thick, but when you say clickable sentance - the seal just clicks into the runner? Cheers Jstar

Hi Guys My pasenger side door seal ( the one that runs right around the frame when you open the door and joins at the bottom by the kick plate) has decided to perish and is torn quite bad. How easy is it to replace, where can I get the seal from and roughly how much? Cheers
-
OK, we know your cars, where did your names come from???
Jstar replied to fla's topic in General Car Chat
Mine is really sad. The name was born for online gaming and network gaming like Doom. My first name is James, But everyone calls me 'J' The JSTAR is the Acronym for Joint Surveillance Tactical Air Reconnaissance- Or something very similar - Which came from the Eurofighter 2000 PC game. In other words a slow lumbering vehicle that is full of hardware. A nightmare when it goes wrong - But its there looking after you 24 hours a day!!! What am I wittering on about? -
Good point Tempest never thought of that idea doh!!! Brentacre as advised on this forum is by far the best value for the rado.
-
Whats the best way to insure 2 cars that belong to me. At the momment I thinking 3rd party on the Rado as its now my weekend run about and full comp on my dail driver a stylish ford focus :( . At the minute I'm being quoted £298 for the Rado and £267 for the focus. I was hoping to get it lower than this though. And dont ask to quote me happy! Because I'm not. Cheers

God knows how some of you regularly get more than 33 mpg. If I flip the MFA to 2 the average mpg is 27.4. With MFA on 1 a 15-20 journey I may see 32 mpg. I get on average 360 miles on a tank. That takes me just into the red. I only get 32-34mpg if I drive around like my gran. And thats not a good idea!

Hi Guys Hope someone can offer some advice on my k reg valver. There is a small oil leak on the front of the engine block above the oil filter housing. Right underneath the inlet manifold. (I think) Its a nightmare to find as I cannot get a good view without stripping it. It drips a few drops of oil a night. Not a major problem but I'd like to get it sorted. cheers

I didn't realise a '87 rocco was a carb I thought it was fuel injection? I'll have a look
-
For htis sort of price i'm not concerned about speed really I mean the car is nearly 20 years old! God that makes me sound old. I'll probably take the plunge as I'll be able to sell it for roughly the same price. Cheers for your help guys :D

I've been offered a Scirroco Scala 1987 in good condition and runs well. Its a stock car with minimum extras. Does £500 sound like a fair price or am I being had. I've been on Autotrader and it seems a fair price. Just wondering if any of you guys have had any experiences with the Raddo's brother. I'm not getting rid of my C by the way if anyones thinking that. Am i being mad? Cheers
-
Hi Guys My C has gradually reached a point now were I have to get the water in the car sorted. After coming back to the car after a short time the front drivers side bottom corner is misted up and the rear window is soaking with condensation ( a full chamiose to clean). All other windows are ok. I've read on the forum that it could be the dreaded heater matrix, leave, crisp packets, if I park my car down hill, etc, etc. Any ideas. So far I recon its a dodgey seal on the rear boot lid. Cheers

At least it wasn't named Taifun. That sounds like a really exotic lady boy name! :)
