  1. Just to update this, the head was warped. Now trying to source a replacement head if anyone can help? Will consider KR, 9A or ABF heads. Thanks
  2. I am 99.9% sure firing order is correct. I do one lead at a time when swapping dizzys (I've gotten plenty of practice thanks to those bloody hall senders!!) and I took extra care with this one being a brande new Bosch one (£££). I will, however, re-check this evening when I get home.
  3. Timing is correct and HT leads appear okay. If I hold either lead 2 or 3 just above the plug you can hear the "put put" noise of it sparking. Dizzy all looks okay. My main concern was the hall sender (I've had a few go already) but that all looks good and clean Compression test is my next port of call. Maybe it's head gasket between 2 and 3 but not on an oil or water way? It doesn't overheat or use much water. (It uses some but no more than you'd expect of a 120k/21 year old car.)
  4. Hi guys, Anyone help with this massive issue. The car is really starting to try my patience. Basically, the Corrado has started sounding really rough. It's been running a little off for a while but this is now undriveable. I've done the usual checks of plugs (okay and all sparking), oil and water appear unmixed and ignition timing is correct. It will sound odd when starting (difficult to describe, almost an on/off whine?) and then start okay-ish. Once running you can pull the HT lead from either cylinder 2 or 3 and it will not make a difference to the running. Remove 1 or 4 and the engine will cut out. Had a recent brand new Bosch dizzy, brand new injectors, recent HT leads and recent service. Any ideas guys? I'm lost. After putting a lot of money into the chassis last year I'd like to keep it going. If it carries on like this Ill have to swap in the 2.8 VR6 from my slowly rotting Golf. Not ideal though!
  5. I bit the bullet and ordered AKL 450 005 05 from my local dealer today. I'll update this thread with the correct size once I've collected it on Friday.
  6. My local dealer tried to order the sleeves that the windscreen trim clips go into (535 853 837) as shown in the foliage cover WIKI These are now obsolete. None in the warehouse and none in any UK dealers I'm told :( My first call that ended in an obsolete part! Fingers crossed mine are okay now!!
  7. Looking to order a few bits to waterproof the C as we seem to have gained a little pond in the rear footwell! I've been through 90% of the threads and also Googled like my life depended on it but can't seem to find this info. I need to know how wide the stuff VW supplies is? I'm looking at this currently http://www.3mselect.co.uk/p-1016-3m-5313-butyl-strip-sealant-20mm-x-10m.aspx Is 20mm wide correct? Thanks Aaron
  8. That's a good call. Whilst changing the oil I noticed the bottom of the gearbox diff looked wet. IIRC that metal pipe sits above that. Thanks
  9. Morning all, I'm hoping you can help me with some ideas of where I might be losing coolant. The car is a '93 2.0 16V with KR head. Over the past few years I've gradually replaced all of the hoses under the bonnet. Last year a new radiator was fitted. Earlier this year the two coolant flanges on the head were changed. The heater matrix was changed in Oct (what a fun job that was!). It still seems to be losing coolant. I'm stumped. I changed the oil last weekend and there wasn't any water mixed in there so I don't believe it's a head gasket issue. Any ideas? Thanks, Aaron
  10. Mine was struggling to start after being left over night. Just fitted new spark plugs and leads and it started on the button! Worth a try?
  11. Assuming this is an early type dash, how much for the drivers side centre console air vent and the column cowling (2 plastic halves around the top of the column) please? Aaron
  12. iirc the Mk4 ones are 6.5 inches wide and the Mk3 ones a 7 inches wide. That's the main difference between the two :)
  13. Oh, and ordered some S2 G60 twin pot calipers and carriers.
  14. MOT (few minor advisories), oil change and brake fluid change :D
  15. Thanks. Will take a look at it this week. Gotta get the MOT tomorrow yet so we'll see how it goes.
  16. The rear wiper motor on my C has play on it so I sourced a good used one off of here (thanks!) Unfortunately Royal Fail have managed to break the washer jet that is normally sat at the end of the shaft. Can I make one good unit from the two I have with different faults/damage? Aaron
  17. I'm running In.Pro projectors, a relayed headlight loom and decent, branded bulbs. This has made no end of difference to the joke that VW called headlamps.
  18. How long till one's shoehorned into a C? :D
  19. To be fair, the Corrado is quite a bit bigger than the Mk2 Golf so would be about right. A5 is based on the A4/Passat chassis so wouldn't be too far from the original either.
  20. I changed mine due to a misfire from cold. Seems to have sorted it a bit and I swapped to super unleaded and that's helped as well.
  21. After buying a rear wiper arm it now appears the play is in the rear wiper motor itself. So please PM if you have one for sake :-) Thanks Aaron
  22. I bought mine for the 16v from my local motor factors. Just gave them the Bosch number and they were in within a couple of days.
  23. If they rereleased the Corrado it should be based on the A5. The Scirocco is not a coupe and never will be!
  24. When I first saw my other half's car with Grey leather I wasn't keen. It's grown on me to the point I prefer it to black now. Grey dash works well too.
