9a / KR hybrid 2.0 16v oil temp running high? *UPDATED*
VeeDub Geezer replied to VeeDub Geezer's topic in Engine Bay
i didnt think there was  looks like i will have to hunt down a chip for the C then.. last time i looked, i saw Superchips wanted nearly £400  im not as worried as i have spoken to a trusted vw techie from back when mechanics actually knew there stuff. his opinion was, as long as the coolant is ok, oil at 120°c every so often shouldnt be a problem. -
9a / KR hybrid 2.0 16v oil temp running high? *UPDATED*
VeeDub Geezer replied to VeeDub Geezer's topic in Engine Bay
i havent checked them tbh mate all timed up ok but havent checked the exhaust gases yet. can we get the WUR mod done to the 9a injection system to richen up the mixture? -
We have recently got the C back after having the head rebuilt. we decided to go for a KR head and cams to try and squeeze a few extra horses out of it. head went on fine but we now notice that the oil temp seems to creep right up to 120

we used the lower spec model Lupo wipers (non-aero ones) and bought aftermarket aero blades works perfectly!! and a hell of a lot cheaper than the Lupo GTI wiper route! (all in cost us about £20) i did use the Lupo pair though so is difficult to change the passenger blade if you can get 2 drivers one it would work at lot better tbh even if you only fitted the Lupo arms and standard blades it would make a huge improvement!!

sorry to hijack but how do you flip the LCD screen? ive been looking to do this to the clock in my Polo for ages! i saw a how-to on one of the forums i frequent but cant find it for love nor money now!! sorry again.

there was a downpipe on eBay recently.. just keep your eyes open on there :) ive asked Bahn Brenner (sp) in the US about their Mk2 / Passat 16v manifold and they said they "couldnt see a problem" when fitting to a RHD UK spec 2.0 16v C, although other sources have said LHD and RHD manifolds are in fact different. As for a de-cat im still not clear how you would get on with fitting a 4 branch and a de-cat pipe

its not so bad when you remember that the GBP is stronger than ever at the moment with an exchange rate of over 2USD - 1GBP its just the shipping thats the problem..

looks awesome!! -
you need to aim for the rev to be at around 5500rpm AFTER you have shifted really so your is the "power band" again
-
also theres still the issue of there being no speedo drive of the mk5/touran box as these vehicle take speed readings from the ABS sensors...
-
so whats the issue with having the car there? if the car were de-cat'd then would the manifold bolt straight on? would we be better to fit 4 branch and de-cat at the same time so the de-cat pipe could be made to measure? *sorry to hijack*

G60 central locking pump -compatible part no's ??
VeeDub Geezer replied to G60-NeedMoorePoower's topic in Suppliers Forum
id be checking all vehicles around the same age but you will have to match your part number (including the last letter) for it to fit and work HTH -
the biggest reason for the slower 0-60 figures is the ghey Passat 'box that the 2.0 was blessed with... id like to see what a 2.0 16, with KR cam, de-cat, re-map/chip + WUR Mod, decent filter and exhaust would put out on the rollers also maybe fit a 1.8 16v 'box? *edit* just noticed the top speed of 126mph... thats b*llox as well.. lmao

The Corrado is Jade's and she cant get enough of it!!
-
ive seen 42mpg from Jade's '92 2.0 16v on the Aylesbury -> Southampton trip normally see anywhere between 18-25 on the trip to work (2 miles so not even warmed up!)
-
the problem is its my gf's car and her parents live out in a little village where the council forgot there were roads... shes been through more tyres than she cares to remember due to pot holes... the problem is the age old "do you run low profile tyres on bigger wheels at the same pressure as the standard wheels" question no one really seem to know!
-
thats just the way she feels comfortable driving. we did run 36 front and back but there was no traction at all.. there was a little uneven wear on the budgets but as soon as we fitted the Dunlops the tracking was done.
-
sorry i knew there was something i forget to mention. we run the fronts at 34psi and the rears at 36psi and they are checked almost weekly...

just recently Jade's C has been suffering from a lot of understeer. We havent changed a thing! The car is a '92 2.0 16v, -35mm Boge springs, KYB uprated shocks, 7x16 OZ Titans, 195/45 16 tyres. Tracking was done not so long ago as the track rod arms were changed. is it worth getting the geometry re-done (this was done mid-'06) or would it be a waste of £65? it started to understeer a little while ago so we changed from the budgets that were on the front to some Dunlop SP Sport tyres which helped for about a week but now its started doing it again we also have noticed its getting harder to put the power (all 136bhp of it  ) down anyone have any ideas or experiance with something like this? we were told last year the rear bushes were starting to deteriorate (sp) could this cause this?? help cos its gettin embarassing spinning the wheels when pulling away quickly..
-
i didnt even realise the Jade's C's handbrake was frozen or seized until i went to put the handbrake back on at work and realised there was slack/no tension at the bottom of the handbrakes travel.. lol davidwort, they didnt get any better wih the mk5 either... my dad works nights and went back to his car in the morning and went to open the rear door. frozen shut. then as he was driving home and the little MFA annouches: *bing* "DOOR OPEN!" lmao

Rumbles and grumbles from the beast...
VeeDub Geezer replied to staffs_til_i_die's topic in Drivetrain
id say get the tracking checked and change the power steering fluid (as a 1st option) and check the belt HTH -
