you should also get him to change the rear wheel bearings at the same time he's doing the discs and pads...even if you have to pay for the bearings yourself.......as it'll save you labour in the future
-
Yeah, there was actually about 3 or 4 of them though, cause they were in Northfield too. cant remember why thouh probably stolen then    LOL
-
for the sake of the extra 4p per litre...i would keep on using the optimax....as i read somewhere before that normal u/l can make the engine run a tad hotter....which isn't too good
-
can just imagine your fuel bill  the g-60's times are totally wrong.....they should be pretty similar to what the vr6's official vw times are....just above the 7 second mark......though a lot of mags managed to get under the 7 second barrier with the vr6
-
it also may be worth your time giving BANANA MAN a shout......he's still looking for some window rubber trim...well i think he is :?
-
hi all, just wondering what everbody elses Corrado's mileages are.......i'll start with mine December 1995 registered.......owned since august 2001 and 38k miles...now with 53k miles and as you can guess i'm bored
-

get as many switches and interior trim as possible......these are the stuff that vw charge the most for and are normally only available from vw,if the seats/door cards are in A1 condition then they should be relatively easy to sell on too or swap with yours.........if their leather than snap them up....though remember later door cards/dashboards and switchgear are slightly differant if its a later model and funds allow get the rotary heater controls as these are also prone for failure and there is a demand for them too....providing they work of course hth

P A R A N O I A  just wait til you own a vr6

a bit of a trek :!: ........come on jim if i can travel 550+ miles for it surely you can drive a 100+ too   ..........and i wouldn't worry too much about stonechips and corroded alloys believe me there will be just as many like that too,if anything it shows that you use/drive your car daily seriously though jim gti-international is a "must do" 8) especially if you own a C.....also if you need any trim/mechanical parts most traders there don't charge vat on the days plus there is all the 2nd hand parts and associated stuff....not to mention a fair bit of totty   and you'll meet and put faces to names from both this forum and the e-group so come on you know it makes sense
-
hi m8, whatever you do make sure you get the correct offset.....i think its et35-38.......check with some of the other guys on here though hth

5 more sleeps then  btw how did you find our advice????was it helpful???
-
i think its as simple as a loose wire.....on the vr the oil temp wire is just above the oil filter housing.....don't know about the g-60's one though...best pm one of the g-60 boys....g60jet etc and look forward to meeting up....just give me a bell or e-mail btw did you sort out the wee insurance issue????
-
just how jammie can you get!!!!
-
touch lots of wood now
-
you stole it then
-
no problem....so how much did you get it for?.........also if its got 163 at the wheels then its most likely been chipped and pulleyed as with transmission losses that equates to almost 200bhp   8)..are you sure thats not the power at the flywheel??

Corrado spotting (old one from 2003 - dont use!)

as for things to look out for(in no order btw) 1)make sure that the oil level is at/near the max and is relatively clean.......much lower points to careless ownership 2)it might sound a tiny bit tappetty(could be down to too thin an oil being used) and also have a very slight uneven idle this is normal, though through the rev-range it should be silky smooth and refined 3)make sure the spoiler rises at either 40/45mph(early cars) or 56mph(later cars)and that it can also be raised manually 4)make sure all the other electrics work too 5)check that there is no oil mixing with the water in the expansion tank....if it is it could be either the oil/water heat exchanger(£40ish part + fitting)or worse the h/gasket(£200++) also check the oil-filler cap...though don't automatically think that if there is a slight mayo on it that the h/gasket's failed as it could just as easily be condensation 6)all vr6's have abs fitted.....make sure that the abs light goes off within seconds of starting the car...if there is no abs light fitted or it doesn't go off then this points to either an expensive fault or that the abs has been removed 7)make sure the s/roof opens and closes without twisting as this can be quite expensive to fix 8)make sure that the tyres are wearing evenly if not this points to the steering geometry being out and could also be an expensive suspension problem 9)door handles are prone to breaking and can be expensive to fix....one of the signs is a stiff handle when opening the door thats all from the top of my head it might be an idea getting a vw-dealer or specialist to inspect it is so that they can also check the dtc's(aka fault codes) with the vag-com software............as these can be expensive to fix and can cause all sorts of future problems hth

CHECK YOUR WHEEL NUTS/BOLTS  i had a similar experience after getting a local garage change my cv-boots....they forgot to tighten up the wheel and all the bolts where on finger-tight!!!!!!!!!!!
-
when i first bought my vr6 i thought it was totally superior to the g-60 but after seeing someone elses mildly modded vr6 getting totally anhilated by paul allan's(on this forum)tweaked g-60 my eyes were well and truly opened  but at the end of the day all corrado's rock even the "lowly" 8 valver.....almost bought 3 of them.......just for the shape 8)
