  1. Don't know if people are still reading this thread, but when my heater/blower would only work on 4 the problem was simply the metal contections on the back of the control knob. Was very simple to fix, I think I just had to take the cover off the heater control knob and gently level circular metal contact outwards with a screwdriver.

  2. I can sometimes hear a gurgle from the passenger seat when I put the ignition on but haven't started the engine which as KarmannVR6 says is the auxillary water pump running.

  3. Wasn't sure if anyone/everyone had heard of erwin, couldn't find anything about it when I searched the forum. I have a bentley manual on dodgy CD, but can't get it to work so I will have to re-read that thread as well. Erwin could be useful I guess, but seems expensive in comparison to a bentley bootleg CD, but then again the Erwin might actually work

  4. The puddle appears in the centre of the bay. The car is '93 VR6. I think I can see some G12+ residues running down the back of the sump. Just had another look and saw the drip hitting the floor of the garage but still can't see its origin. This was after moving the car back into the garage after a hovering session.

Also when I have the igition on but the engine not running the electric pump sounds louder than normal (but I might just be being paranoid). I can also hear a lot of fluid flowing around the pipework (air getting in?). But I didn't see any dripping (then again I only lay on the floor looking for 1min).

Oh and no the car isn't overheating (but at most its run for 25mins driving to/from work).

  5. So on Friday I moved the car out of the garage and saw a pink puddle in the middle of the floor. Lots of coolant had been lost, overnight, without the engine running! So I topped up and haven't found a leak, nor have I lost a similar amount of coolant again? Has the leak fixed itself? I think G12+ can block leaks, but not sure? How can such a large amount be lost overnight and little lost since? I have had a look along all the pipework and radiator that I can see, and I haven't found anything. Any thoughts?

  6. Morning all,

I have another coolant leak. Where can I get the pressure test equipment that allows you to put ~1bar of pressure on the system so I can check for leaks myself and not pay a garage to do the hunting? I think you can get a peice of equipment that attaches to the expansion tank and allows 1bar to be put on the cooling system by hand.

    Anyone use one of these?

    cheers

    :( another sad morning.

  7. So I gave the bolt a couple of sprays of WD-40 and lossened it at the weekend.....didn't break. Managed to pull the wire through a little and retightened.

Just incase something went wrong I took out the grill and headlights before closing the bonnet for the first time.

All worked well, and now only have to pull the handle a few inchs to pop the hood.

    Wicked :thumbleft:

  8. Hello mate, That was me at the Seven Crossing, had just driven back from family in Cornwall where I also spotted a VR6 in blue on an N plate with NRG reg oarked in Carbeile pub car park and a Silver unkown plate or model crossing the Saltash bridge, sos didnt see much off ya as I was hammering it down from Oxford to Cornwall that night.

woooohooo spotted someone, though you were taking a strange route from Oxford to Cornwall via Wales?

What exhaust have you fitted sounded good?

  9. Spotted two recently.

First was the day after boxing day. A G6O pulled up next to me and corrado loving girlfriend at the toll booths for the second severn crossing, waved, nodded etc.

Second was yesterday (wednesday) by the albert in bedminster a strom waved at us again.

After that the girlfriend said she might buy her own 'rado (she already ownes a large portion of mine!)....so keep waving everyone. Merry crimas
