Just to clarify my stance on the 182 Jim:Maybe you're right and it's a case of "badge snobbery".If the guy was driving a Veyron I would have said the same thing. My point was that the author of this thread owns the Corrado and need not feel ashamed in any way that he was overtaken by a noddy car or any other kind of car for that matter.
-
As KevHaywire says Jim,don't be put off travelling.I journeyed from Glasgow to Slough for mine. It's a long drive, but if you do your homework on the car it won't be a wasted journey. The drive back is immense and you won't be able to wipe the smile of your face. For 3.5k you should be able to get a good one, they're all coming down in price now. Good luck.

He drives a clio. This makes him either 19 or French. Speed is very far from being everything.

I am the only one who thinks the Corrado looks stupid.......

STORM 2,you're dead right.I noticed for the first time the other day the spoilers real purpose-the blocking effect on tailgaters lights. This has been a good thread and I've learned plenty.I can't understand though why people are so against the spoiler going up/down.Even if it is a gimmick,it's a good one. -
Corrado Spotting! Was it you? [Archive January 06]
TheWizardofOdds replied to bristolbaron's topic in General Car Chat
SAW,nice car geezer, seen it coming from Glasgow and going back.Should probably have guessed it was a valver from the reg(don't think they made VRs in Gs did they?) Also saw a silver rado in Edinburgh further up the road but was dark by then so no details. -
Thanks for the replies. I'm fully aware that this is a Corrado forum and not a Rover one. There are many people on this site whose knowledge of cars is excellent, and as I was on the forum anyway-why not ask? I knew I would get unconstructive replies as I knew someone would take up my question more seriously(It's all good). You could do a lot worse than a 200 for a second car though.I take it as my personal responsability to thrash the living daylights out of it (they can shift) perhaps to remind people that not all Rover drivers are dithering 75 year olds-whatever Jeremy Clarkson says. Thanks again, and remember:The car in front is a Rover. Possibly.

Okay, bit of a long shot this one(it was 2 days ago) Black VR6 i think(no badges)parked on costorphine road,Edinburgh.G**GOS. Looked nice with aftermarket alloys. -
My girlfriends' Rover 200 has started playing up recently. It's actually been a good little car to drive and has been reliable(I know,it gets caned on here)mostly. As the thread title says, the car revs at about 1.5-3k revs when stationary or depressing the clutch.Any help on this would be appreciated. Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it team?(other than getting a new car of course) Thanks.

Golf,Jetta,Bora,Passat,Polo:Volkswagen continue to make these models(and in a few cases, quite rightly so)but neglect to reprise the best of them all.I think the Corrado deserves to be in production again. Why did it cost so much? Surely they could have found some way around it.Im sure plenty was spent designing the car,not to mention building it.Had VW shown more faith i think it would have payed dividends. The car would have evolved naturally.Of course it's all about the sales at the end of the day,but have none of the aforementioned models ever had dips in their sales?
-
I can appreciate why people like these kind of lights. However,i do think they have chav factor. Original are best.
-
If i'm to have another car other than Corrados,I'd go for the Ghibli or Quattroporte from 5 years back or so.Ghiblis' are style.
-
I've read many predicted 0-60 times(VR6)ranging from 6.4 to 7.2secs.So the average from this- 6.8,is still pretty quick. It would be good to have it tested on an unfettled 'sprinter'.

Phaeton,Touareg,W12?..is this the Corrado forum? A repmobile, bus and a scalextric car over a Corrado?.. :nono: I'll have a VR6 with all the trimmings please.

I was stopped recently by the old bill also.I was approaching a T junction and before taking a left turn,i looked to the right for oncoming traffic.Visibility is good at this point and you can see about 150 yards or so.I didn't stop at the junction(no give way)seeing it was clear, and turned left. The next thing a police van is behind me,lights, the full monty.Immediately after the junction is a roundabout,so i turned left again knowing that i could stop in a layby at the side of the dual carriageway for a 'chat'.The police van stops on the inside lane(!)immediately after the roundabout, and the Pc driver asks me if we're in a race.I explained that the road was clear and a 30 mph limit,so what speed was he driving?(i know, not the smartest thing to say-but he was extremely arrogant)he then went absolutely mental. The 18 year old rookie next to him looks at me as if i'm a piece of s**t,and says he has right of way.I explained to her that I have learned that much in 13 years of driving, but i was driving progressively and with due care.As luck would have it,they then received a call out and had to depart. I have been stopped many times, mainly because i work nightshift and am driving home at 4-6am on quiet roads.I'm not anti-police,but sometimes the manner in which they speak to you is deplorable.Motorists are an easy target and it can be very hard trying to stay on the right side of the law with unmarked cars, cameras and what have you.Innit.

Ever so slightly sarcastic.

Yip,Topgear. I prefer the decent driver/excellent presenter combo- to the accomplished driver/p**s poor presenter 'style'.Tiff does my head in.It's that whining, grating voice that rankles.VBWotsit for a january transfer window move to Topgear, just to break up the ever so slightly pompous, public schoolboy triumverate. Is the chubby geezer with the ginger manner,plato?..or am i thinking of another program? Either way,he's a knob. As much as i like Topgear,it would be nice if they layed off the Aston DBoutofyourleague for just one program. And the Murcielago, gallardo et al for that matter.

Thanks, done a search now. Clear as mud. :?

Sorry for putting you out. I usually do a search, but neglected to do so this time.

I've recently got the door handle repair kit and need to remove the door card to take off the handle.I've taken the three screws out,and tried to take off the card but don't want to snap/brake anything. The only problem seems to be the button on the sill,a silly question, but should this button be up or down? Either way,it's making the card hard to get off. What's the best way of doing this? Thanks.

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE
TheWizardofOdds replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
I have just got the repair kit from daves16v.(thanks) Do you have to take the door card off to do this fix? Do you need mole grips?(dont even know what they are) And,has anyone else with little/no knowledge of car maintenance done this themselves? Thanks. -
The All New Lupo Aero Wiper Conversion Thread!!
TheWizardofOdds replied to Supercharged's topic in Exterior
I picked up my new set of lupo wipers yesterday.I have had a go at fitting them this morning, and have a couple of questions. When i placed the new arms on the spindle there is very little thread left to put the bolt on.The lupo arm seems to be raised higher than the OEM wiper arms. Also, the covering cap doesn't seem to fix on either. This seems to be a straight forward 'mod' to do,am i missing something?(other than common sense). Thanks. -
