  1. I am insured with Chris Knott who gave me the cheapest quote, only beat flux by £4, but every penny counts. I am a member of the corrado club of gb, I mentioned this to them and they said they'd try and match my cheapest quote. £420 for me and other half, tpft. I got a quote from First alternative for £350 fully comp but they wouldn't insure other half cos he was seen to be a higher risk than me even though I'm the one with speeding points! So had to go tpft with chris knott.
  2. yeah 'brilliant metallic black'. Don't know about pics of me, not very photogenic!
  3. mk 2 gti, definately. My other half has one, great cars to drive.
  4. He converted me to a corrado lover, I'd never even heard of them before I met him. He wants a vr6.
  5. He used to take car of it but now it 's falling apart and rusting. I don't know if you can see the rust under the dirt on the back but there's a hole straight through to the boot! It's still faster than mine though :(
  6. Every time we go out and return to the car my boyfriend goes 'oh no your car's been keyed' he thinks he's funny! :x I think he's just jealous though, see pic below for his car!
  7. I bought it with the scratch on it. I don't know who the previous owner upset but the scratch goes right from the back to the front. I bought the car in Sept and am still saving for a respray! The other side is chipped so that needs doing too.
  8. Here are some pics of my lovely car. (If there are no pics here then sorry I don't know what I'm doing.) What do you think of my wheels, I have the originals which have been reconditioned but I'm too scared to use them now incase they get scratched!
  9. Thanks for your help :D . Don't really need anything at the moment (apart from alt.) but just thought while I had the opportunity I'd see what I could steal from the golf before it went to the garage in the sky. Nevermind, anyway it means there'll be more for us to sell!! So if anyone's after some golf parts.....
  10. only got about 2 replies but someone said depends on model but alternator and starter motor should be ok. I think I'll listen to the people that actually have corrados though!
  11. I posted this same message on clubgti and got some different answers.....
  12. Yeah, I saw the post about the MK meet, but decided against going. My car is in desperate need of a respray. one side has been keyed, the other is really chipped. Didn't want to park nest to all those lovely corrados when mine looks like a state!!

I bought the car in September, and as far as I can see from the paperwork I was given with it not much has been done. The head rebuild was what I was thinking about. How much would that set me back?
  14. damn! Thought I could scrounge some free parts!
  15. Are there any other females on here? I admit I'm kinda new to this forum only registered the other day but I haven't seen any posts from any females. Not that there's anything wrong in being surrounded by men with nice cars......just wondering?!!
  16. not even the alternator?
  17. its a 1.8 8v Golf gti and a 1.8 16v corrado

Just looked, don't think I have it. I think I read a buying guide somewhere that gave a list of things that tend to give up after a certain mileage.
  19. What parts from a mk 2 Golf GTI are compatible with a j reg corrado 16v? Basically, my other half will be scrapping his GTI soon and I want to know what, if anything, I can scrounge to put in my car? I need a new alternator, are the golf ones the same?

I read somewhere (though I can't remember where) that after certain mileage, things under the bonnet need changing. For example, after 100k you should change/check/replace .....? Am I making any sense? I have a j reg 16v. If anyone understands what the hell I'm going on about, please advise!
  21. yes it burns oil a lot! I seem to fill it all the time! How would I check the valve stem oil seal and is it expensive to fix??
  22. I was completely stonewalled by them, they will not take any responsibility. They have said they will look at it but at how much more cost to me?? They already charged me £122 labour to fit new ignition barrel. I have written a v. nasty letter to volkswagen uk about it. I have heard many stories about dealership cock-ups and I will never go to another one again!!
  23. The garage said my immobiliser was faulty but it worked perfectly fine before it went in to their garage and after they couldn't get it to disarm so they bypassed it by just cutting some wires back and tying them together. Since they will not do anything more because they are adamant that it is not their doing I have just had a friend take it out completely so now it is not immobilised and technically my insurance is invalid and I'm v. angry with vw and will not take my car back there! I'm now going to get an alarm.
  24. I have no idea, it came with the car when I bought it, I assumed it was factory fitted but obviously not. I took my car to the local vw garage for a new ignition barrel and now my immobiliser doesn't work and they are saying that it isn't their faut cos it isn't a factory fitted one and they don't know how it works.
  25. only checked the first one so far. How did you know it was a broken rocker cover gasket? I wouldn't know how to check for stuff like that and I have fallen out with the local vw garage cos they broke my immobiliser but thats another story!
