    I have a custom made shelf. You can get black acoustic cloth from Halfords or the Motorists Centre (MC is cheaper!).

    I have 91 j reg and have adjustable s/wheel, s/roof (not that it works!) and electric windows. I have the steering wheel in whatever position my boyfriends leaves it in when he drives it. Its so annoying, I get in seat is in wrong place, can't see in my mirrors and the steering wheel is wherever he decides he wants it. Whose car is it anyway?! :bad-words:

    Had my car 5 months and not one comment :( . Was out in the others halfs vw transporter after a week of having it and some old man stopped us and said how nice they were!!

    Mine comes from the two loves of my life... my car being a 16v and my cat being black! My ebay name is longleggedlizard but thats another story!

    Don't get me started, I could moan about VW for hours after the service I received from them :mad2: Sadly, I have heard of many people with similar experiences. Suffice to say I will never go to a vw garage again. They are all a bunch of ...(v. rude word).

    Are there lots of different alternators then? Mine needs replacing (j reg 16v) and I got one from a h reg 16v, will they be the same?

    I've just fixed it, cheers Banana Man! The push switch was stuck in, just needed popping out.

    The interior light doesn't come on when I open the driver side door but it works when the passenger door is opened. Where/what do I have to check/do to fix this??

    Saw a blue j reg g60 in Bedford today, on the rope walk roundabout. I wasn't in my car, I was in my other halfs van, a vw transporter.

    Not necessarily. I took my car to the bedford dealers for a new ignition barrel and they have f@@ked my immobiliser and are not admitting responsibility because it wasn't factory fitted so they don't know how it works!! Wrote to head of VW UK and they did sweet FA about it. :(

    Yeah, just tried to ring them but they're obviously not there now, I'll ring on Monday. I was thinking about getting the head rebuilt/recond anyway cos I don't think its ever been done and car's done 130k now.

    ok, replacing the cylinder head it is then. Thanks for all your help, sorry to ask loads of questions but I don't know much about engines. :wink:

    This happened to me the other day, put my foot down as I got on bypass and noticed loads of smoke in rear view mirror. Is this easy to fix? It sounds expensive?! :(

    I do have a 16v and I do put super in it. Just wondered if it did really make a difference. The only garage near me that does any kind of super is sainsbury's. (and the super pump is the one at the back and I'm forever getting in to arguments with idiots behind me who demand to know why I haven't pulled up to the pump in front -a reasonable enough q i suppose but it starts to annoy you when you've been asked 1000 times!!).

    Just a quick question. Who uses the super unleaded and does it really matter if you don't? In the service manual it says to use a higher octane petrol, does it really actually make a difference? (BTW, sorry if this is in wrong section, didn't really know where to post it)
