Just Installed new speakers in VR6.....Sounds pants!!!!
corradokid replied to Scott's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Ok, basically you have used the standard wiring right? If you have then you are running the headunit with two speakers of EACH front channel. This will either mean 8 ohm resistance and much less power from the head unit (resulting in distortion when you try and wick it right up) Or 2ohm which your headunit will not run at happily at all ( check your pioneer manual ). Did a shop recommend this or did you choose? My advice would be to disconnect the dash speakers and then see how it sounds then as how your running at the moment is a very bad idea. Also as a side note, absolute polarity is not always correct, by the time the sound reaches your ear it can be out of phase anyway, so have a listen and wire it how it sounds best to you. Hope this helps -
You were right VR6, I should of realised. Thanks very much

Hmm might be will have a look tomorrow. Its the only bit of wiring that runs across the floorpan if that helps?
-
Ok come back round to start putting the interior back in, can anyone help me out? There is a bit of loom that crosses over to right of the floorpanthe floorpan where the back seat goes im not sure what its for or which way it goes, to the front of the car or the back? could anyone do me a favour and lift there boot carpet up and have a look for me? Its only two wired so I thought it might just be spare? Sorry for the bad pic but its well dark now!

I got mine at 19 ( three years ago ), wasn't to bad to insure less than a grand anyway. Seems to be a lot of people from round the sussex way now!
-
Coullstar, sorry thought I had replied mate. You can get them from R and A but I think they are quite dear ( when I say quite dear, I mean very ) but I believe that a certain member of westside is going to start importing them although I may have got the wrong end of the stick  Search the PVW forums, im sure there is a thread on there somewhere. Hope that helps

Henny, in serious doubt at the moment, to much to do and dont want to rush it. Wheels are schmidt modern lines, or supposed to be anyway. Look cool though whatever way! Sorry about pics, taken with my new fangled phone toy!

got the whole week of work to try and get it done, not sure if its going to happen though  Got new stuff to keep me happy though!
-
Cool will get some next week then. Have to say not going to use venom again, only brought two things from them. One being the coilovers with no C spanners, and the other a reiger grill which was way dearer than the other place you can get them from  Nevermind
-
Ok spoke to venom today and asked the guy if supersports came with spanners. His reply was no. I then asked him how comes some people had got them with the kits and some hadn't? His reply was if they have any kicking around they chuck them in the boxes :? I smell something funny, sounds like they take them out then sell them on to make more money on them to me. As a P.s, I take it the vr6 top mounts are a straight swap? Best from VW or someone like euro car parts? Cheers everyone
-
You got them now then woody?
-
Cheer guys, will speak to venom when I get a chance then. Thanks for all the help
-
Im pretty sure someone here saying they fitted these themselves ( Henny? ) and I have to do mine at the weekend. I wanted to put new everything on, so new top mounts ect but not sure what else I need. Basically what do I need to keep and what can I throw away? Also can I just wind the springs down when fitting so I dont need a spring compressor? Last thing, where can I get the c spanners for adjusting them? Thanks in advance people
-
Ok as feared i have a set of tinted ones in my possesion now, who needs to do the swap over?
-
Are the indicators not the same as the old ones then? Look the same to my short sighted eyes  P.s My 16v has the brake ductings fitted as well?
-
I was the one who ordered red/clears mate. How are they coming, ie parcel force or someone different?

So what did you do to your C over the bank holiday??
corradokid replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in General Car Chat
Stripped whole interior out, fitted new wiring loom, replaced seat bolster, did a bit of engine bay cleaning and washed outside with zymol  Started to fit my coilovers but couldnt find my adjustment spanners  Wil start on the dynamatting next weekend fingers crossed! -
Do the front wheels stick out past the arches mate? My 9x16" do, cant decide if I can get away with it or not?
-
Cheers for all your effort, will look forward to getting them! Bets regards, Dan

Have you got a test light mate? On the block with 5 wires check the: Yellow ( permenant feed ) Red ( ignition feed ) Black ( earth ) Then give us a shout back with the results, should just be something simple if it was working before.
