Hi having a garage clear out and found the warning triangle I forgot to sell with my car 4 years ago. It's on ebay, http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=322091477921&alt=web But happy to end it early if someone makes me an offer.

Awesome. That's great news. I'm really pleased someone could devote the time needed to keep her going.

Just logged back in for the first time in a year or so, god I miss my old car. Have you still got it?
-
I thought Plugs 1 and 6 were prone to being oily anyway. Must have been that cracked insulation.
-
Sorry mate. Even if I did have the receipt still, I doubt it would do any good, I bought them in 2006, and the car has done at least 50k since then. Is it one plug more oily than others or all the same?
-
Nasty one Ben. If these are the same Hoses I had on when I owned the car, I had exactly the same thing happen to me, You can see the damage on the pic below. The main hose ruptured in the same way. and the smell of coolant was always there, as if the coolant was somehow seeping out of microscopic pore holes in the hose. BTW the car is looking excellent. Its great to know it is being cherished in a way I didn't have the time or knowledge to.

Hey Ben, You should arrange a photoshoot with this fella. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1206631&mid=71787&i=0&nmt=My+1993+Corrado+VR6&mid=71787

Hey Ben. This used to happen to me but only after I had swapped out for the Mk4 header tank. I think the electrodes are shorter so the water level only has to get close, and it sets the warning off. Also, during enthusiastic driving, it sloshes about and sets the warning off too.

Best looking car in that lineup.

I think the point of my original message has been lost somewhat. Regardless who owns Porsche, the operation of the dealerships is unlikely to change, as Porsche the brand will be left to run things as long as they sell the allocated number of units. Therefore this feeling that it will become very "VW" in its service delivery is very far from the truth. As with Bentley, and Lambo, the only real changes is to the quality of the product as a result of better supply chain and economies of scale. As far as I was aware VW franchised dealerships are shyte at customer service anyway. Why would Porsche want to emulate that?

Interesting take on things. I can understand the concern about reliability, especially with recent press coverage of things like Rear Main Oil Seals, and Intermediate Shaft Bearing Failures, but in general terms of reliability there are 2/3 of all Porsche ever made still on the road. Other manufactures would be falling over themselves to attain such a figure. As for Customer Service Skills , My own experience with VW flies in the face of your comment, but that aside, seeing as this is a management group buy out and should not affect how individual importers run their day to day business. Also the fact that individual importers are responsible for their own in house departments such as Customer Service, I don't see there being any change to how this is managed. Quality checks, Investment, Product line sharing, Cheaper component purchase, and better buyer power with component suppliers, all these however are a given for areas that will improve.
-
Some of you may know I have a vested interest in this. The official line is with component sharing, product line sharing (both past and future) and vastly improved economies of scale. this can only be a good thing as the VAG group aim their sights on the likes of Toyota. Historically, 914 was a joint VW Porsche product, and currently, Touareg/Cayenne are essentially the same shell. Bentley, Lambo, DAF and Skoda have all prospered whislt remaining individual under VW ownership. so Honestly I cannot see it as a bad thing. Yes in 2009 Porsche played the bankers at their own game and tried to mount a take over, but the legalities got in the way, and the SE Works council stopped any move. Regrettably, the finance crash happened and Porsche (much like any other car company) suffered as a result and the result is what happened last week. FYI, Since the initial takeover attempt, the VW takeover was always going to happen. It was planned for 2014. but as we agreed a rate sooner, then the economies of scale, and benefits mentioned above can start that much sooner.

Hi It is time to shift on my Golf, and I am not sure how to add this to the other vag section? If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be cool. Ta.

Good to hear you sourced an engine Rob. I'm also sorry that you felt the old girl needed one. But its better than breaking her up, that would have been a crime. Hope the project gets back on track now, and you can have her all sorted for the summer.

Best Colour there ever was. Sorry to hear you are not loving it.

Yeah, it was a head over heart decision. We have a beagle and need something with a dog friendly boot, and the car just passed MOT so it seemed the right time. also I'm being tempted by air con. Was looking at Jaaaaaag x type as a big wafty. but saw sense and I thing I will be heading towards mk4 gti.

I cant update the advert, so in answer to questions. Bodywork Perfect, except Drivers door, which has 2 minor dinks, Typically after it was resprayed. Slight wear on drivers seat. and the cable for the seat tilt lever has come unconnected, But seat can still be lifted forward to access the rear, by pulling the cable. Mods, If you know how I can edit clasified advert, Please let me know.
