Are your front shox knackered, sounds like it to me! Try bouncing the front end, when you stop bouncing the car should level out in at most one and a half up and down movements, if you get my meaning :multi:

VR6 Insulated Intake Power Gasket, FOUND ONE LOOK AT PAGE 2!
TREVR6 replied to TREVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
Found one and they do em for all vw lumps too :D http://www.evolutiontuning.com/evolution.html Be sure to read all notes carefully before purchase, if unsure email them they are a very helpful lot. Apparently there have been some clearance issues between intake manifold and the bonnet (vr6) as RS VR6 says, but I have spoken to them and I reckon it will be OK! The gasket is 1/4" or 6.35mm thick and with the use of a bit of blue tack I think there should be clearance enough! Also they say that they have sold to other c owners and they have been OK! Any way I've decided to risk it, I reckon it will clear OK, even with a VSR, and I thought as my bonnet already has a broken front engine mount dint in it, my car would be the perfect guinea pig! Also the VSR with it's name plate sits higher than the standard manifold, so if it's OK on mine it should definitely be OK on yours! Dunno about Schrick owners though! Oh yea there is a small bit of alternator butchering to do as well but that doesn't look too bad, just a few mm to grind off to clear the first manifold bolt. (see photo) Should arrive from America in a week or so, I'll let y'all know how I get on! Cheers Trev Oh yea they said to add US$25 p+p, quite reasonable I thought. :D -
Addition of a CB750F would have been nice, the ORIGINAL super bike! http://www.mattdesmond.com/image_archiv ... middle.jpg

Mite be worth flushing the cooling system if you haven't done so already
-
I would reckon air flow meter has to be first stop, especially with it showing up faults, also when the car is hot as it will have been today sat in that damd traffic the pinking will get worse the hotter the engine is. Don't mean to ask the obvious but have you checked your timing, is it a dizzy and if so is auto advance working OK?

http://www.gprtuning.com/component/page ... /Itemid,2/ These lots prices are good thinking about buying one of these myself, not sure of the quality but I'm sure someone off the forum has used one with no problems, can't for the life of me remember who though  Just know I found this lot through the forum and wouldn't have saved in my favourites if they were being slated! Was gonna be emailing them soon and enquiring about overseas shipping, guarantee etc. Let me know if your interested I could possibly order a couple and save on overseas shipping and possibly get a bit of discount for buying two, I'm not trying to make money here, any savings made will be split 50\50 :D

Cheers mate, much appreciated, yea also looking to insulate the rocker cover as you say, it's bound to help but I think heat transfer through the gasket is the main culprit. Thanks again, Trev. -
Yea me too, had a good thrashing on track too, no signs of warpage, just a lot of dust! :D

Doesn't it make you sick, who do they think they are, dam it makes me angry when people steal and vandalise other peoples property, especial cars, knowing first hand how passionate one can be about his motor, why can't a small minority just learn from the rest of us and be civilised! Rant over, gripes; no warning buzzer if you leave the lights on, or is that just on mine????????

Yea not sure what they're made of, just know they're available for other cars, once witnessed a Civic get thrashed round the track and when he came in you could quite happily put your hand on the intake manifold. This has to be a good thing me thinks, try it on mine and you'll be visiting A+E :nurse: Cheers Kev I'll get in touch with PhatVR6 -
I have ordered a few time from euro performance in the past, no probs at all good to deal with and quick delivery.

Sounds like a brake disc guard catching or summat like that

What's this noise, sound like crickets in American films.
TREVR6 replied to TREVR6's topic in Engine Bay
Yea just the bearing changed as the clutch is only a couple of years old, so was the old bearing so it shouldn't have been goosed and it now looks like it was ok all along, just the symptoms pointed to the brg. Mite have to drop the box again, for a better look at the clutch flywheel, shafts etc, getting good at changing vr6 boxes now tho  -

Yea it was lubed up properly, ooh er! Thought it could be a faulty gsf bearing but the noise is EXACTLY the same as it was with the old bearing, whats the chances of two bearings one old, one new making exacly the same noise, possible I guess especialy on a Corrado!!!! Mite have to try getting a brg from VW, see if that sorts it but to be homest I'm a bit scepticle! -

Right changed the gear oil which made sod all difference, but then I didn't think it would, but I just had to rule it out. Fairly sure the noise is coming from the gear box, it's definitely the gear box side and as I say it goes away with the slightest press of the clutch pedal. Any one know much about vr boxes or know someone that does, cos this noise is driving me crackers and it's getting worse Is there a prone bearing for knackering or any other known weakness, it's done about 125k so would have thought it should be OK, don't hear much about vw boxes giving up, it's not like it's a Rover now is it? Could do with some input please guys, Cheers, Trev. -
Horrible squeaky whistle that sounds just like crickets on Yankee films at night, and it's coming from my vr engine bay :x Now the thing is it goes away as soon as you touch the clutch pedal, so I thought it was a clear cut clutch bearing problem, but no after changing that on Saturday imagine my disappointment to find the noise was there still, just the dam same Gonna try changing the gear oil, and see if that does anything just wondered if anyone had any other ideas or similar experiences, cos I'm a bit stumped!

Got the chance of a AAA engine with box, d,shafts hubs, sub frame, loom etc etc for a decent price. Considering either 1 keeping it for spares, 2 selling it on and trying to make a bob or two, or 3 keep it for a project 3L ported head lightened fly wheel super charger etc etc, Would be nice to build an engine up over a year or so at my leisure and as funds would allow and have it all ready to drop into mine. Just need to know before I buy it or not what the differences are apart from the smaller bore size. Head, box, wiring, ecu, manifolds, sub frame, hubs, shafts, block (apart from bore size) crank, clutch, etc etc all the same I think, but you know what thought did! Info please guys Cheers Trev :D

That'll do for me cheers mate :thumbleft:

Just need to know what the oil pressure should be on a VR6 engine when cold and when hot please. Seen 5 and 10 bar gauges and senders, which do I need. Cheers chaps, Trev.

Seen two in the last week both on the A66 in Cumbria between Appleby and Penrith. A black or pearl grey one last weekend just to say west of Appleby, I didn't see you till it was too late, I gave the indicators but I don't think you spotted me. A silver one today (Sunday) think it was a G60 about 6.45pm just outside Temple Sowerby going through the S bends, I waved but I don't think you saw me :salute:

Yea it is a dizzy engine. Just put my other chip in tonight and the vsr works a treat. Looks like another trip to the re mappers. After further investigation the wires from the vsr control valve go straight into the ecu. As for your set up I'm not to sure what your best bet is. Try opening your own thread as the people who know may not have spotted your question in this one. Hope this rather vague info is of some help.
-
No loom butchering was done mate, the ecu has had a socket put in in place of the original chip, so now the chip just plugs in instead of being soldered in. Installing a socket is a job for someone who's done it before though, very easy to knacker your ecu.

AAArrrrgggghhh - Anyone help?? Headlights stopped working!!
TREVR6 replied to Blue_Joe's topic in Engine Bay
Mine to but it was a relay on the uprated loom full of water.
