Na forgot to copy the faults to my note pad  I'll see if it comes back and if so post the fault code up, Cheers.

Just hooked my vag-com up and it came up with two faults, just wondered if someone can shed a little light on the job :?: Fault 1; o2 sensor adaptation limit surpassed (intermittent) What does this mean? Changed o2 sensor recently cos it was showing o2 sensor no signal (intermittent) reset ecu and performed basic settings after it was fitted. Fault 2; Maf intermittent short to ground, would unplugging maf to see if car still ran (it didn't) bring this fault up or should I bite the bullet and buy a new maf. Car runs OK most of the time just with the occasional VR standard erratic idle and stalling at junctions. Both faults cleared and didn't come back, although I haven't been for a good drive to see if they reappear yet as I have to spend an evening with Stella and her 7 sisters! :drinking: :gag: Any help much appreciated, cheers chaps.

I'd be very nervous of debris getting down between piston and block. How bad are they? Any pics? Are they just a bit black or realy thick, with flakes of carbon sticking up?
-
Neva tried that tbh looked like they would nip and possibly damage my shiny new leads if I forced them. Didn't take long really 1/2 hour or so, not too bad. Up to the individual I guess.

You need to file/sand/dreamel the small raised bits in the plug lead guides, then they are a perfect fit in the rest of the guides, they just push in and stay put. Which is dam good of em!

this happens on all cars. Unless you're taking the pistons out then I wouldn't start picking at it as you may start to loosen bits that may come off after the engine is back together. It will be very hard to get it all off with the pistons in place as it will probably need soaking in degreaser and then a good bit of elbow grease! I would either leave it alone or take the pistons out clean them properly and replace them with new rings.

:ignore:

I found that cos the bores are on an angle to the head mating surface it's possible to do it without a compressor, by just putting them in a bit at a time and working the rings in from the highest point downwards, as you slowly push the piston down, if you know what i mean??????? Takes a little while longer but not too bad of a job......... Compared to some at least!

Or an AK47, just to be sure  :2gunfire:  :2gunfire: "Say hello to my little friend"

Done a couple of track days both at Croft Circuit, going to Spa and Nerburgring at the end of August, can't wait! Would be cool to do some more British tracks and would deffo be up for a VAG/Raddo day depending on timing and location, anywhere fairly north (donnington/cadwell etc) would be good with me.

Nah mate they are 5 stud, thought about getting some more new wish bones to save time as you say, but it's more money that I can ill afford at the mo. Besides the wishbones that are on are nearly new. FRONT WISHBONE INNER BUSH (REAR) PFF85-204 FRONT WISHBONE INNER BUSH (FRONT) PFF85-201 Is this what I want? Me thinks it is :D Yea funny and at the same time annoying too, never mind guess we've both learned a lesson, ie dont buy budget, second rate, marshmallow bushes!

New wish bones and bushes from GSF 3 months ago and already the bushes are worse than the one I took off Anyhow lesson learned use VAG bits, pay a touch more, but it pays off in the end. Gonna upgrade to powerflex now anyway and just wanted to check pflx bushes will press into GSF wishbones before I take the old bushes out. I'm sure they will as they are surly exact replicas of VAG arms?? Keen to know for sure tho I don't want to end up stranded on my drive for the sake of checking first. I would use my old VAG ones but one wasn't too keen of coming of and I had to persuade It with a grinder and a gas axe! Any info appreciated, cheers, Trevr6.

Get in touch with antera309 he was having some made by stealth using some old bits of mine as templates, as he was in the same boat as you. think he was making a few with the intention of selling them. Dunno how much tho. Won't make any real difference to performance without the flap etc all working.

Yea it's chipped, it's an old AMD one, can't remember the voltage, think it was about 13.8, Yea cleared the dtc's it doesn't come back straight away but if you leave it a few days and re scan it's there again.

As title really..... VAG-COM is showing up "internal control module memory error/ too low" Can anyone shed some light as to what this actually means and how to go about fixing it? Ta

The best way I believe is to do it by feel. With the wheel on slowly nip the nut up until there is no play but the wheel turns without the bearing dragging. Then take the wheel off and put the split pin etc in... I suggest giving the bearing a good tighten (210 is a bit on the harsh side tho) before the above procedure just to make sure it's seated properly. Also check and adjust after a week or so once the brgs have bedded in a little, you may need to nip them up just a touch, but then that should be them OK for good, make sure you take time to massage the grease well into the rollers too, no garage floor sweepings allowed in the grease mind :nono: Buy top notch brgs too cos cheep ones don't last

Another pair of perfectly good underpants ruined!

Retrospect is a wonderful thing, I could have probably earned a degree in it if only I had known at the time :D
-
Agreed! Also I get on average 1mpg more without the cat on! Not a lot but it all adds up! Mines a 93 so it's to swap for the mot but worth it IMO for the power gains alone, the added mpg is a bonus! :D

Speaking of big pistons, This engines crank alone weighs 300 ton  Just take a minute or two to read the spec, Quite amazing, Fancy changing the big end shells on this baby! http://www.bath.ac.uk/~ccsshb/12cyl/

Someone else please either confirm or dismiss this statement, to try and help s.g get his rack and me clear some space!
