Was done by Motorsport Developments in Blackpool, yea it's a piggy! I've still got the chip that was in (had already been chiped years ago but I've just got a big tb and a new exhaust set up) I'm gonna try putting that back in and see what happens.

Now I'm really confused. After further investigation it all appears to be working but the wrong way round. ie below 4000rpm there is suction and the flap is open, and above 4000rmp the valve switches and the flap shuts. This is wrong isn't it??????? Tried reversing the polarity of the wires on the valve but that didn't make any difference. Thinking now it could be to do with the re map but I'm just guessing cos ecu's and electrics aren't my strong point. Any speculation welcomed!

Hello peeps. VSR problems again, it's a 93 vr6 with a vw motorsport VSR and the vacume operated flap is permanantly open The vacume hose that operates it is permanantly sucking like a whore on double time! The flap operates freely enough by hand. My suspicions lie with the little valve thing behind the "ball cock vacume tank thingy" I presume this is conected to an engine speed sensor somwhere down the line and should switch vacume on to the flap at 4k. Any one had dealings with one, cuold it just be full of crap, are they the same valve on a shriek vsr, how much etc. Or do you think I am barking up the wrong tree? Recently been remaped, hope that hasn't affected it, shurley not! Please help, track day in a week, could do with the old girl on top form!

If you're a bit handy with a file and a grinder it's not too hard to make your own. 3/4" copper pipe is perfect size. Or even better if you can come by a bit of thin walled steel or stainless pipe. Like blue peter though get an adult to help when using power tools!

I replaced all 4 wheel brgs got them from euro car parts and had them all to replace again after about 1000 miles, which didn't make me to happy. Got replacements from my local motor factors ("premier" brgs supplied) and they've been fine now for a good 10k. My guess is it's all down to shoddy quality brgs! Needless to say euro car parts haven't had any more of my custom. Wa***rs!

Can I just say how impressed I was also with Alpina's tb. Got one recently and was very impressed with the quality and service, thoroughly decent chap. Made a fair difference too, and she is in for a remap on Saturday, I'll keep ya'll posted!

I'm not taking part my self as I have only done 600 miles since I re built my engine, so it probably wouldn't appreciate a good thrashing just yet. Gonna take my Corrado though and my mate's taking part in his Evo so I should get a passenger ride at least. :D I think it's a Skyline owners club event but there were loads of spare places, just wondered if any Corrado's were gonna show them Liners the way round! Or indeed if there will be anyone else there just to watch. Was a good day there was some serious money getting pushed hard round the track. Ferrari Lambo TVR even a Bentley!! Check out the linc for some pics. http://www.megapixl.net/gallery.php?gid=85

Most of the time a race on the road isn't about who's got the fastest car anyway. The winner is usually the one with the smallest brain and the least consideration for human life. You know how fast your car is and that is all that matters in my opinion!

http://www.martinrandle.co.uk/hosting/s ... orrado.jpg Looks fairly potent to me. Any one know if this is the quickest ever Corrado, or is there a jet powered one? Hmmm could be a winter project, forget nos lets strap a jet on! I saw this thing on scrap heap challenge once...................

May I also suggest an "Ezi Bleed" They are about £15 or £20 quid and make the whole job so much easier. I know for a fact that Halfords stock them but please, for the good of the country try to by one from you're local motor accessory shop. I'm all for supporting local businesses. Once the large companies win the battle and shut all the small spots down we're all screwed because they can charge what the hell they like! (sorry about that, rant over now!)

About 25 kilo's with cams, followers, valves and springs. Just recently sent mine with tnt cost about £12. That was through work though and we use couriers allot so that was probably fairly cheep. Cheers, Trevr6

Yea it does seem to move a lot more than it used to and the new front mount didn't seem to change that. I'll put new rears on too and hopfully it should be back to how it was. Anyone know how bad pearl gray fades, Had a pannel re-sprayed, Did it match up well, (just incase the bonnet needs painting) Cheers

Hello, My vr6 unit is sitting higher on the n/s than the o/s by about an inch. I've recently changed the front mount because it was weeping black goo!! I'm just about to order new rear mounts too, to try and sort my current problem but cant understand why if the rear mount is knackered it would be sitting HIGHER?? Surely the engine would drop if anything! Thought maybe the o/s had dropped but no it's definitely the n/s that's up because it has dented my bonnet :x Could the mount have come adrift and be pushing the engine up?? It all looks OK. Anyone had similar problems? New mounts has to sort the problem doesn't it? Or could there be something else? Any info gratefully received, Thanks Trevr6 My bonnet though Grrrrrrrrrr

Once again my VW Pierburg vsr is causing me grief. The shaft that holds the vacume opperated flap in place has worn thin and snapped. Anyone got any idea if the actuation units are available fron anywhere or if I'm gonna have to try and fabricate a new shaft. Been in to VW dealers today and they weren't too much help although i've got to go back on monday and speak to Dave....."are you Dave!" No part numbers to be seen on the unit. Please someone help. Can I get one and if so where from. Or by some mirricle has someone got a shed full of them :D The vacume unit is still ok, it's just the shaft that the flap bolts to that's jiggerd! Any info greatfully recieved. Thanks Trev

My vr6 is ready for a re map. (Hi flow pannel filter, full st\st streight through exhaust, pierberg vsr, and i've just purchased one of alpina's enlarged tb's) Any way just wondered if anyone can big up a re mapper in the north of England. I live about 35 miles south of the Scotish border and although I'm not scared of a road trip there is no point in traveling further than nessesery for these things. Found one place in Lancaster (only 45 mins away, perfect!) called "TB Turbo" interested to hear any feed back about them. Any other sugestions greatfully recieved. Like i say not scared of a trek out rather it was done right but north of Birminghan would be nice, Yorkshire or Lancashire would be even nicer! Thanks Trevr6

My alternator is dead :( Can anyone please tell me if it's ok to put a 120amp alt on to my 93 k reg VR6. It's only got a 70 amper on at the moment. Will I send my car in to melt down :?: Or will it just charge better? Thanks people, Trevr6
-
Well that is odd. I was charged (VW Dealer) £120 for a head set £80 for bottom end gasket set and only £21 for head bolts. I agree and at the time was plesently suprised at the price, cos they aint small bolts either! They got me back with the con rod bolts though, £90 for 12 small bolts! They mabee just make it up as they go along??????
-
Yea, It soon adds up! Not much if any change out of two grand  You know it's right then though, good for another 100k, Better the devil you know
-
I was quoted about £450 for re-bore, crank polish and crack test, head and block skimmed. Pistons & rings about £120 per cylinder Full gasket set £200ish Head bolts £20 Con rod bolts £90 (eek for 12 bolts :( ) Valves £20ish each Chain sliders and tensioners £150 ish Total cost will obviously depend on what actualy needs doing and how much of a perfectionist you are, but I hope this is of some use, Trev, Ps, Having your engine in hundreds of pieces realy makes you feel alive
