Changed the thermostat, And after sitting in traffic The top hose is still red hot, the Bottom hose is hot-ish. Still bubbles up in the expansion tank Temp while sitting was just over 90Deg and oil was 110deg, I was wondering if it could be a weak waterpump now?

On my 2.0ltr 16 v I think i am having probs Firstly is it normal for the top an bottom hose to become very presurised? I have opened the expansion tank (when cold) and after a while there are large bubbles coming out, and eventually the water itself comes out. The temprature is while standing just above 90 and the oil is geting as high as 110 deg but no warning lights come on, am I worrying over nothing, or is there something amiss Please help as its driving me mad with worry!! Thanks Dave

Don't have a gas analyzer, but am gonna do the thermostat tonight, if that dont work i'll try the pump, cause even if it don't work is still got to be cheaper than the bits for the head gasket. (an a hell of a lot less work) I'll let you know how I get on.

No, heater works fine, in fact it gets too hot Any other idea's?

Hi has anyone done it, if so what sort of a job is it, do i need new head bolts? Is there anything that is difficult to remove? or should be looked at etc? Whats the best place to get the gasket kit from? Thanks Dnac

OK, I am still loosing water, and now after running it to work I checked to see if I could see the leak, the bottom hose is cold, the top hose is red hot, and both are really really hard, like they are pressurised. I cannot see any oil in the water or water in the oil, but could it be the head gasket, or is it a blockage somewhere? Its a 2.0ltr 16V

Hi, A light has started flashing on my corrado dash, i think its the water level indicator. I guess it must be loosing water somewhere, but cannot see it, and cannot see water in the oil or the other way around. Is the coolant system pressurised when running? And is this a common fault. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi, seen a few of these mentioned on the site, what are they please ? and what do they do? Thanks Dnac

Is the gaugeplace his seller ID, i can't find them
-
If anyones interested , I've started a prototype pod to go where the ashtray is which will take two 52mm gauges and will require no mods to the console  I would be interested in that, please let me know if you make one, i'll trial it for you!

Thanks, I have not seen any screws in them so assume they must be the clip in versions, need doing as they have their own swimming pools at the min!!

So what do you have to do to turbo the 2.0 16V? Is it just (hmm easy when you say it quick!!) change to uprated rods and lower comp pistons, or is there a whole host of throttle body and injector / ecu changes to be done? Not to mention where do you get the feed and drain for the turbo oil? and will it fit? Is it just as easy to shell out for the QPE ECU and stick a 1.8T in there?

They look well cool, what gauge holder is it? or did you make your own from scratch? I was either considering buying the two gage one that sells on ebay for 22 quid and goes in the lower cubby hole thing, or trying to get a piece of flat carbon fiber and making my own.
-
Both mine on the drivers side are cracked, can I get them from any corrado, or do they differ through the years? Also if anyone has a pair for sale please let me know  Thanks

How does the heat affect the gauge?
-
As above, seen these on ebay, are they good or not worth getting or should they be avoided as the muck things up? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Corrado-Perfor ... dZViewItem Thanks Dnac

As above? Hopefully getting my New Corrado on Saturday, first Mod I want to do is put these stickers on!!! Cheers

Yeah, thanks, I found that about ten minutes after posting, What I can't work out is it show fuel consumption as being the same for the two 16V's and the G60, surely thats not right And shows the 1.8 to be faster than the 2.0ltr both 0-60 and top speed. It just does not ring true to me? but then, I am no expert

Hi all, I am looking round at Corrado's now with the intention of ideally purchasing after Christmas Is there any where that I can compare the specifications ie power, speed, Insurance group and Fuel consumption type data side by side for the different models. Thanks

If I was you, I would get down to your local car spares place, buy a few cans of the correct colour paint and spray it yourself, being carefull not to get overspray all over the place. It will not look show quality, but will keep the rust out, then save up for the respray when you are back at work. If you claim on the insurance they are only going to contribute a couple of hundred quid after your excess is taken out, and then next year get it back when you renew by raising the premium due to the claim.

Hey, I have seen a Corrado 1.8 valver on the ebay, he says that the starter is lazy, is this a hard swap to do, and what do they retail for. He also says that it jumps out of third if you boot it and then let off without changing up, is this a common fault, is it hard to fix, and is it something to worry about. Lastly its nugget yellow, what do you guys think of the colour? Cheers I promise to stop asking questions soon. and thanks for all the advice so far

Does anyone know what a VR6 would return MPG wise?
-
I need something thats not too bad cause I need it for work every day (14mile round trip), but then something that is real fun at the weekends. Between 20 and 30 doesn't sound too bad, cause my 20v Turbo passat doesn't return much better than that anyway.

Suprisingly I got some quotes form Elephant.co.uk and there is no difference between them on insurance, all £300 per year using my 2nd car 2years NCD
