I have contacted H&R to ask if they are suitable with standard shocks to see what they say, but if anyone does know? I am concerned with the Eibachs as they kit is the same for VR6 and 4 cylinder models (H&R have separate kits) so worried the front won't be low enough because the 16v will be lighter.

Thanks Keyo, I saw from your thread you have used both Eibach and H&R, any preference?

I have done lots of searches on lowering springs and it’s a subject that’s been covered a lot so apologies but my situation is a little specific so require some help/advice. I have an early 16v on standard shocks and springs. The front shocks are original so need replacing, the rear where changed to Bilstein B4’s couple years ago by previous owner so have plenty of life in them. I would like to lower the car a little (no more than 30mm), so was thinking of changing the front shocks to B4’s to match the rear and then use some lowering springs for the drop. It seems a waste to bin a perfectly good set of rear B4s. Wheels are standard 15” Sebrings. Now I realise standard shocks and lowering springs are perhaps not the best set up as they are not matched. However general view seems to be that a small drop is ok on what would be fresh dampers. My annual mileage is low (2k per year) and I don’t mind a firmer ride as this is not a daily. Eibach or H&R springs on a 4 cylinder cars seems to be popular and suitable with standard shocks. What’s peoples generally thought of going down this option? Thanks

Hi I am looking for a well looked after early 1.8 16v in good condition, standard or lightly modified. I am more focused on condition than a high mileage or a particular colour. Budget is between 2k to 3k. Thanks

Hi Chris, I don't know the brand of suspension fitted, I did also enquire with the previous owner but he didn't know either, I suspect it was fitted by the one before him but we had no records.

Glad your loving her mate and getting things sorted :-)

I honestly hadn't noticed any adverse noises when starting the car, it never sounded any different in the 2 years I had it or the VR I had before that. Might be worthing checking engine mounts etc but as I said I never noticed anything that I thought needed looking at so could just be normal. The recent service at my local specialist didn't pick it up anything either and he always gave me the heads up if he spotted anything that may need attention in the future. Hope that helps. Cheers

Hi Chris Glad you made it to Plymouth ok bud. Sounds like you've got some big plans for the car, which is great, the engine certainly is a peach. The suspension would have been the next job for me if I had kept her for longer so it's probably the best place to start for the car as it could probably do with a refresh. Good luck and I'll be interested to hear how you progress. Cheers

After 7 years and 4 Corrado’s I am moving on as times/priorities have changed :-) I sold my last VR6 on Saturday to a nice chap who’d travelled all the way from Jersey… very sad to see it go after 2 great years. This VR6 was no doubt the best car I have ever owned and never failed to put a smile on my face or make any drive an occasion. Just want to say thanks to those who know me and also those who have helped out along the way. It’s a great forum and I am sure I’ll be logging in every now and then (but staying away from the classifieds :-). Cheers.

Current CAP trade prices for a 91 G60 with 150k are as follows: Retail: 1325 Trade Clean: 810 Trade Average: 600 Trade Below: 430 I've heard WBAC use trade prices as a starting point then make "adjustments" (ie. deductions) dependent on the results to their questions.
