christ unlucky mate. i am careful with that now i remeber when i was younger driving into work feeling rough as you like and in hindsight i was probably battered still from the last night out. needless to say i wont be doing that again.
-
i originally wanted a mint mk2 golf gti 16valve but rocking horse s**t springs to mind. i picked up a vgc 2 litre 16 valver for a fair price and i am pretty happy with it. the vr6's seem to be demanding silly money.
-
its alright, the cars dont go round corners though.
-
great news, what you get banned for bud?
-
oilman is the bollocks, i have bought oil from him before when i used to have a civic. top bloke and top service.

i have a similar problem to this, very sticky directional control. i also have a problem that the fans only come on when they are set to position 4, if you set it to 1,2 or 3 nothing comes out is that related to the controls being knackered or is it something more sinister? -
to solve the crashy ride on koni adj shocks & springs thats doing my nut in i just bought some H&R springs from NFS to be delivered shortly. after a good old search of the forum i have uncovered some threads about VR6 owners having to get new top plate mountings for the front? seeing as i own a 2l 16v will i have to get these to make them fit? what other components should i buy from GSF / VDub to replace at the same time while the garage is working on the car? im getting there slowly
-
yeh dont worry guys i got the green stuff G002000 i think its got green stuff in there anyway, im gonna check the condition of the belt and give veedubbed a shout if its still buggered :)
-
i have gone and bought a replacement belt and fluid so ill check that out when i get a chance....
-
just so that people know, STS cant get the H&R any more they put me thru to motorsport wheels.
-
BANG ON i found a decent thread about it in the end, entitled power-less steering. sounds like theres a problem with the fluid, or the belt. how much am i looking at for a pump incase its that thats kicked the bucket?
-
me again !!! the power steering sounds well noisy like a cow do all corrados sound like this, i wouldn't mind making it sound a bit quieter if possible, the PAS fluid levels are fine. the steering feels damn heavy though, ive driven all sorts of cars but it feels like driving my old punto on 17s with no power steering at all, perhaps its mullered??? ive searched on here but didnt find any good threads about this. cheers 8)

went down the garage and we had a good look at the suspension everything is tip top, no leaky shocks or worn bearings as far as we could see. i can get the tracking done but the ride is so hard on the konis even adjusted to max softness its doing my head in. im thinking about getting H&R springs on the koni shocks seems like a good compromise! Problem is the springs are about 170 delivered which seems awfully expensive for 4 springs, does anyone know anywhere cheaper???
-
and thank you all for your replies i will keep you informed. :)
-
im gonna bowl down the garage today and see whats what. no point in getting the tracking done if im going to put new parts on again now is there! and a question for you too: in the past ive been given hassle from the tracking guys at garages becuase the car is "lowered" its down 40 mil is that going to cause any probs for the grease monkeys?
-
thanks coolrado, how much did that lot set you back and how many hours labour at a friendly garage, they wont dick me around. just for my info :)
-
i have a 93 2l16v that i picked up the other day. it came with a full koni 40 mil kit with shocks & springs that were put on the whole car feels really wishy washy when cornering, its not the tyres or PSI they are fine. the car has now done 120K so obviously some suspension components are coming to the end of their life. what shall i replace to get the most from my new beast. ill be buying them on the cheap from GSF or whoever but getting a friendly garage to fit. kind regards.

hi caios, i did not spot that link, but the fact its for sale for over 3K puts it slightly out of my price range i think, and the other cars in question have been driven a regular and fair amount (10K a year) and have recently had alot of work done on them so they are in tip top. i will give him a call, cheers mate :)

hey everyone im a newbie on here hoping to become a regular. im really excited about getting myself a corrado ive always had a soft spot for them and now im in a position to buy one, its narrowed down to the following choices: 1993 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO 2.0 16v, K reg. 123000 miles, Blue, FSH, MOT Dec, Clifford full closure alarm, ABS, PAS, e/windows, c/locking, CD, alloys, VGC,. £2,900 . ono. VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO 1.8 16V, G reg. 109000 miles, Met Blue, MOT till Jan06, 6mths tax, VGC. Alloy wheels, CD player + changer, full S/S Exhaust system, £££s Spent.. £2,850 . ono. i cannot afford the insurance and running costs of vr6 or g60 so its got to be the straight 16valver for me. ive read the buyers guide but i have a few questions for you lads. 1) apparently there is not a great deal of difference between the 1.8 and 2 litre 16v engine in "real world" performance, ie the cams are quite restrictive on standard 2.0 and with a cat on too it strangles the performance. whatever one i get ill have a straight through exhaust with decat on it so my real question is, if i go for the 1.8 will it be "slow" and will i always wish i plumped for the 2litre? 2) the second one of the two cars is is 3 years older which means its an earlier model one, is that correct. does this work in the cars favour or not, obviously newer cars are going to have less to go wrong, in theory and both cars have been owned by enthusiasts so im sure they have been taken care of. 3) with the first one being newer, theres more to go wrong, ie faulty sunroof, air con and so forth, but what about driving experience and the on board leccys are they the same? what it boils down to, is which one would you choose; the lower miler 1.8 which is older but i think has been cared for really well. or the higher miler 2 litre which is a newer model??? thanks :)
