Right, my valver just hit 140,000 miles the other day and I think it deserves a bit of special treatment. Its burning a little oil on start-up in the mornings and if you sit in traffic for more than about 60 seconds it stutters a little when I pull off. I'm guessing that this is going to be either the guides, the stem oil seals or a combination of both. Now I'm considering getting a new head from somewhere like TSR, polished and ported. What preformance gains does this sort of head work give? also will the bottom end need any work at all? new rings etc? What else can I do to get more performance out of it, I've got a KR inlet cam ready to go it and am going to fit a new exhaust system too. I did do a search but struggled to find anything. Cheers Chris

I've got a 2.0 16v on a K plate. Now after reading a few posts about the breaks on these cars it appears that they aren't considered as being very good. Now the brakes on my car are absolutely fantastic, I think they are much better than in any other car i've owned or driven. Even the guy at my local VW specialist garage said they were the best breaks he'd found on a C. Are the standard 2.0 brakes really as bad as people make out and if so do you think mine may have been upgraded? If so what to? 280mm G60's? How can I tell if they are standard apart from the size?

If they were fitted at a garage I would take it back to them, they've obviously not got the timing right when they put the belt back on.

I have this same problem, although not as bad as yours sounds. My front engine mounts is knackered though so I think that has something to do with mine, Going to change that and get the g'box oil changed and hope for the best.

Thanks very much, just what I was after. Chris

I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything. Basically I want to carry a couple of bikes this weekend and would like to disable the rear spoiler is possible. Is it just a fuse i've got to pull out or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated Chris

Might sound stupid but I think a 200BHP diesel powered Corrado would be great. My dads got a Golf GTTDI with about 180BHP and it feels really quick and still gets 45+ MPG. Is it possible?

I can get hold of the engine in my 2.0 and move it back and forth. is this the front engine mount thats gone? where's best to get a replacement? Chris

I had an auto Golf VR6, it certainly wasn't sluggish thats for sure!! Was great for cruising but I did miss the option to change gear for myself. Didn't regret it though

I had this problem on my last car, Was a Punto GT that i'd just rebuilt the engine. replaced the lamda and gave it a good run before taking it to get it nice and hot and it sailed through. Chris

Fitted my Fk Silverline X's yesterday and my wheels today. What do you think?
-
Think i'll go for the 195/45/16's I like the stretched look!
-
195/45/16's are cheapest then 205/45 followed by 205/40 Not sure which would look best, I don't like tyres to look like baloons!!
-
Just got my cheap Borbets, going to get them refurbished and get some new tyres. Now the difficult part is choosing some tyres. Should I get 195/45/16 205/45/16 205/40/16 Can't make my mind up, what advantages and disadvantages do each of the above give?
-
£565 in the recent group buy 8) I paid £569, so not bad at all!!
-
Yes they are silverline x. How much did you pay for yours? Just want to make sure I wasn't robbed!!! They are top adjustable Koni shocks, so the vice thing seems irrevlevant
-
The instructions show something about clamping the shocks in a vice and twisting them? Whats this all about? say something about 70 degrees max? I'm confused!!
-
Its just a reflection, It was sprayed outside!
-
The block really doesn't need high temp paint. This is my old Punto GT engine It was done with normal spray paint, primer paint and laquer. So far its been on about a year and had no problems.

Bought a new fuel filter the other day, Where abouts is it so I can change it? Cheers Chris
