Hi, Sorry to jump in. My VR6 has just failed on MOT because one of the solid like under the car is showing excess corriosion. So im going to replace them all. Does anywhere sell complete kits, all ready cut and flared etc? I know GSF do them for older vw's (campers etc) do they or anyone else do a kit? Cheers for your help, couldnt find anything in search.

Thanks for that. Is it the rubber inlet hose from the pump that I pull off? Is the VAG green fluid the only stuff suitable then? Cheers.

Hi, Ive done a search but couldnt find a definative answer. I want to change the power steering fluid - is it just a case of draining and refilling or will things need to be bled? Also where is best place to drain it? Thanks.

Sounds like the one that went pop on my vr. Its got a small hosing going off towards the air intake. I think the hose was about £39 from vw, then a few mins to fit.

Is it possible to tell if there is wear in the arb mounts or top mounts before replacing them? i.e. grabbing something and if there is play replace??

Cheers guys, i think everything in the brake department is as it left the factory so a brake refurb is probably due. Is it worth replaceing calipers etc with existing or are there any good / worth while upgrades around - i heard something about 288 front discs off a mk4 golf? What about the rear. Im running standard 15'' wheels so size is abit limited.

Hi Got a '93 vr6 corrado. The brakes stop well but just dont feel convincing, ever so slightly spongy and the pedal travel is maybe abit long. Now im comparing them with my other car a '98 audi a3 and the brakes on that are awesome, really solid pedal and very little pressure needed to operate. Is it because its a newer car that i can feel a difference or could there be something up with the corrado's brakes? BTW the fluid is new, discs and pads are used but no where near worn. I guess its hard to give a definative answer without actually feeling them and comparing to another corrado but any tips would be v useful. Are there things that commonly go wrong? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, the link provides some very useful info for removing the headlining and getting to the sunroof mechanism. What i cant find or cant understand (probably the latter!) is the name of the shiny sliding thing that im on about? And if it available seperately or does it come attached to something else, like the cables?? Cheers

Hello folks, Finally got round to investigating why the sunroof wont work on my vr6. The left hand side runner/sliding thing has broke so only part of it moves with the wire when the sunroof is operated. Is it possible to get a new sliding thing?? How does it attach to the control wire?? I assume it is a wire that pulls / pushes the sliders around?? Wheres the best place to get one. Id also like to get a new sunroof seal, where should i get that?? The top of the switch for the sunroof control has been removed, can i just buy the top or do i need a whole new switch?? Also how do i get my headlining out?? So many questions!! Cheers.

Cheers for that. Where can i get one of those tools for turning the rear calipers? Im used to working on air cooledd vw's and they alwasy push!! I took a pic of the mount, but downloaded it onto my parents computer then forgot to email it to myself! I expected that would have been welded to the exhaust from new, guess im gonna have to get the mig out and carry out some sort of repair.

Haynes dont seam to do a manual for a corrado vr6. Is there a good alternative manual available?

Apologies for not being corrado related, but can anyone shed some light on these 2 queries? 1. Anyone know if A3 brake calipers (front and rear) retract under pressure or are they the twist and push type? Is there a special tool for them? 2. The exhaust on my A3 is rattling big style. I jacked it up at the weekend and the exhaust support which is approx half way down the car has rusted so no longer supports the exhaust, the rubber mount is in a1 condition tho. Its the support that seams to have been attached to the exhaust then a small bar sits in a rubber support. My question is, firstly:does anyone know which bit im talking about im talking about? Secondly: does this mount come attached to the exhaust from new or is it available seperate to weld on. The exhaust is all fine and i dont really want to replace the centre section just cos the mount has rusted! Cheers guys

I think the stuff the marshal throws down is a mix of bleach and water. They put this in the burn out area as its slippery and therefore allows the cars to wheelspin to build up tyre temp.

Im sure I saw a street legal audi coupe do the 1/4 in the 6's at bug jam last year? My memory might not be serving me right tho - hope it is... VAG should always be better than a vauxhall!!!

No cant hear it. Although havnt had my ear right next to it, but you can normally hear it cant you. Are the pumps the same as on any other car? Just thinking if there the possibility of getting one from a scrappy rather than new from gsf etc.

The central locking has stopped working on my new '93 vr6. All doors/boot can be unlocked manually but it wont centrally unlock or lock from any of them. Any ideas what could be up? Auto window up still works btw.

What year did the late style bonnet and grille (3 slats i think) start being fitted to the vr6 rado?

Hello Just been to see a Corrado, among the usual problems of sunroof, sticky vent controler and notchy light switch. The 2 seals that run along the roof at the edges the sealant has cracked and is comming away in places. Is there an easy fix to this? Just thinking if its something that would stop me buying my first corrado vr. Thanks guys, youve been really helpful so far!

I found out its got a cloth interior. What are they like or is it better hanging on for once with leather? or is leather rare? Someone has just told me it should have had its timing chains replaced at around 100k, if it hasnt whats involved price wise in changing them? Is it something a handy home mechanic can do? Ive rebuilt air cooled and a 1.8 8v gti engine, anything more callenging involved than i would have come across before?

Im going to look at a corrado vr6 for sale soon. Any pointers to look out for other than the obvious. Someone told me that the head needs rebuilt at 100k, is this true? The owner has told me the sun roof doesnt work, which is a common failure on a corrado. Is this the case and how does one fix it, is it easy enough to do? He also says that the previous owner lost the service book but he has got confirmation for vw of the sercive history, what do u think? Cheers guys.
