  1. Hi I'll have one. With the 3 extra OE plugs eliminating the need for spade connections and returning full parking light functionality plus the 3rd relay preventing failure of both dip lights at same time, it looks like a well thought out upgrade to my previous upgraded loom (over 16 years old & which has given some corrosion/connection issues at battery and fuses in last couple of years.)
  2. I wasn't sure they were the same; probably why my search didn’t find that many. All ok now as the one I got appears ok.
  3. Hi Jon, I'd done some searching before finding Bestpartstore, didn’t find a lot of choice for suppliers of Valeo, there was one described as a genuine VW part for £110. I'm trying the partial dash out method described in a few postings, I've got some of it done. Hopefully over the weekend I'll get the heater box out and this one will fit ok.
  4. Hi Sean, seems that GSF vary which brands they sell, but anyway they said my car wasn’t on their supported list. The one I ordered only arrived today, turns out it wasn’t in stock and they had to get it in from Valeo. Don't know if it’s the right one yet, but its come with a foam gasket that fits around the inlet/outlet pipes, also a rectangular foam gasket and a length of adhesive backed foam.
  5. Thanks Jim, the part number in your link (VALEO 812031) led me to a forum posting "Hella Heater Matrix. Are they any good?" where someone had fitting issue with the GSF premium part. There was a supplier listed in there http://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/ which have the Valeo one. There was some confusion over part numbers as they were saying 812030 was the correct part, that post says part ending '30' is the LHD version and '31' is RHD. I've ordered 812031 from them so fingers crossed it’s the 'right' one. They are based in Germany, estimated to get here in a week, cost just under £50 with shipping. Thanks for the help. Tom
  6. Heater matrix started leaking earlier this year, I by-passed it at the time, but it's getting cold so now planning to take on job of replacing it. Want to get decent quality replacement so it lasts another 20 years :). Various sites have them listed for approx £25-35. Old posts on the forum recommend to get a Valeo OEM one from GSF. GSF's Ebay shop has a 'premium' quality one, manufacturer not specified for £50.52. GSFcarparts.com for what seems to be same one - GSF part # : 178VG0041 for £67.27 . VW part # : 1H2819031A / 1H2819031B I phoned GSF Ebay department to see if it’s a Valeo one. When I gave the registration he told me it would not fit as it only went up to 7/1995 and mine's 11/1995. I thought 7/1995 was probably when manufacturing of the Corrado stopped, but, he said going by data on his screen he couldn’t say this one would fit. We never got into discussing who made it. Does anyone know if this is the correct part and if its still a Valeo one or got any other advice on availability of an OEM matrix supplier?
  7. Switch arrived yesterday and I fitted it last night; lights all now working again. :) Great product and excellent service, thanks Matt and thanks to your 'lovely Mrs' for the rapid postage.
  8. Hi Matt, I've got a broken headlight switch. Can you pm me the details of how to get one of your new improved ones? Thanks Tom
  9. Thanks guys for the feedback on Paisley freight. ----------------------- Yes I'll take these. Will you contact me with payment details, and a collection date that suits you?
  10. Hi, I'm pretty sure I'll take these, just a couple of questions; I'm assuming the tyres are 15/205/50? I'm in Essex, I've looked up a courier for shipment, Paisley Freight that are quoting £30.50. Do you know of other shipping options? Tom
  11. nrc: It didn’t seem to be the brakes or handbrake as I couldn't get it to come out of reverse gear. I jacked up the front nearside corner and rocked the wheel by hand, then tried again and it came out of gear without any problem! Jim : Unfortunately I only found that grommet on the gearbox after I'd got it out of gear, that would have been useful to see was the clutch moving or not and would have let me know whether the master/slave cylinders are ok. The car's not been used much since, I guess I'm going to have to clock up some miles to see does it happen again.
  12. Yesterday parked up with car in reverse gear pointing forward down a slight slope. This morning pressed in clutch to let the car roll forward, nothing happens. Pushing in clutch pedal, action seems normal, but clutch is not disengaging so car won't move. There's no sign of any fluid leaks & the reservoir is full. I've read on here of slave & master cylinder problems, neither of mine have been replaced, but usually the pedal doesn’t return from the floor which is not the case in mine. It had a new clutch fitted last year. '95 VR6. Any thoughts or ideas how I can diagnose what's wrong? Has anyone seen these symptoms?
  13. Ok, cheers for that, I'll give Vince a call when I've gathered up a few ideas. Not been there before but I've heard good things about them.
  14. Decided to check out the state of my VR's timing chain. Took rocker cover off & found the top tip of the resin pad of top tensioner has snapped off by rivets, also on the top chain guide the plastic 'bolt hole' has gone. I've booked into Stealth Racing to get chains, clutch and head done - a spur of the moment decision. I'm getting thermostat housing and gearbox oil changed at the same time - water pumps & serpintine belt + tensioner pulley bearing have been done lately. Anyone got other suggestions of things to get done while that lots going on?
  15. I already have a VW pump I bought ages ago, but put off fitting it up to now! After reading the comments, (thanks for the brief steps by Timbo) I'm tempted to give it a go at the weekend. You say I don’t need to remove the cat, where do I check that its not binding when lifting the engine, i.e. what parts touch first?
  16. I'm getting a coolant leak from around the area of the water pump, noise levels seem to have gone up, also I thought the water pump pulley had a slight wobble. This is a VR6 with the original water pump. I've read various posts on here and looked at what's involved in replacing it and I'm going to get a garage to do it. VW main dealer is quoting £320 inc VAT. Is that excessive and can anyone recommend a decent garage in South Essex/North London? I've got a new serpentine belt ready to be fitted and the bearing in tensioner pulley has already been done, is there anything else that should be replaced at the same time?
  17. I couldn't find a source for the roll pins but I've got some split pins at the correct diameter, let me know when you need 1 and I'll post FOC. Dave, that would be great, I'll send a PM (when it gets a bit warmer!) I want to get the passenger door handle done as the drivers one feels much more solid now.
  18. Dave, received kit, very fast delivery and it's a nice piece of engineering - thanks. I did the drivers door and it works well, hardest job was getting that roll pin out in one piece. Have you ever come across a source of new roll pins as if I get around to doing passenger door I think I'd drill it out - if I had a replacement?
