Here Here Pacificshack - you got that totally right! Glad to learn that this so called campaign can't actually result in a conviction but its the principle that I object to- makes me want to make a note of every old biddy's number plate who's ever cut me up/pulled out of a side exit without looking/dawdled and dithered to the point of being a road hazard... but then I don't have that nature to shop people in this way, that the government now seem to be promoting. Disgusting.

...And to my digust, I hear on the news that ordinary residents in Surrey are now going to be involved in a scheme where by they themselves can operate speed gun's?!?!..... Er... What?!?! Who's crazy idea is that? So now we can expect to be 'pointed at' by biased busy bodies?!?!? This Country seems to have lost the plot?!
-
Bad luck mate, I sympathise. Mine was a similar situation - they only set up their little money trap during the summer months (when its dry and more light??), and position themselves just out of initial sight. Fair enough if the copper had to address the fact that you were speeding but trying to have a pop at you about the noise at 11:30pm, its hardly the small hours of the night is it? Seems like the police are now trying to enforce political correctness now too, huh?
-
It seemed that it may have done, although you don't get to hear the magistrates making their decision so its hard to say. I have spoke to someone else who had comitted a similar offence and they had a letter stating that it would in fact result in un-employment, and he got a 10 day ban so, I guess it would suggest so. Never mind, the money I will save in fuel will pay for my skiing holiday! (Shame about the future insurance costs though!)
-
Court summons was this morning... 56 day ban, £200 fine, £35 court costs. The magistrates reduced the fine from £300, as I had pleaded guilty right from the start. I also took a letter from my boss, stating that a disqualification from driving would affect my ability to perform my job role. Although they mentioned that it didn't actually say anything about losing my job, they did take it into consideration. Case took 7 months 5 days Fair enough I guess... Although interesting to note that another offender there today had been caught driving at 102 on a motorway, without insurance, on a provisional licence, and received exactly the same punishment :?:

Good result! Perfect timing too! Cheers for the tip off; I'll make sure to take the same approach!
-
Any joy mate??? Looks like my case has gone the same way yours did! My case has been adjourned for the 2nd time, to 30th Jan. I have recieved a letter saying its highly likely that I will be disqualified, but I've been invited to go into court on the 30th to state my case. If there's any hope, I think its that there may be a very small chance that I may be able to shorten the ban by going in and acting extremely humble??

Cheers Tekara!

Does anybody know of a good place to obtain Corrado badges? I gather these are no longer available from the stealers. I basically need every badge on the car replaced as they're showing their age? Especially the rear VW badge! Cheers!

Does anyone know of the Ford part number, (or what model it is used on) for the oil brether found on the VR6? Mine's leaking oil. I've heard that if I was to buy this part from VW I'd have to buy a load of bits I don't need at my cost, but you can buy the exact same part on its own from Ford for a much lower price? (See pictures attached showing the part I mean). Thanks!
-
Both adjourned?! Did they give a reason? I received a short letter saying mine had been adjourned and would be heard on the 9th Jan on a basis of 'not guilty' - I presume that's standard wording meaning I'm innocent until actually proven guilty in court, as I ticked the 'guilty' box. Good luck in court mate!
-
Case was adjourned until 9th Jan!! Seems the court was too busy that day to have my hearing... Still pleading guilty by post, just have to wait to hear my fate by mail after the 9th Jan - what a way to start a New Year!! Great....
-
Know what you're saying White2505 - It isn't worth turning a motoring offence, into a criminal offence!
-
Gutted! I hope do you alraight mate, its not like you're way over a tonne or anything. Thats what, roughly 45% over the limit? Think mines about 87% over the limit (i don't know if they calculate it like that though?) This isn't my ist offence unfortunately I got 3 points (SP30) after passing my test, they came off 3 years later and then went back on a month later (SP40), they came off 3 years later and then I won them back again getting caught doing an average speed of 90 in a 70... They've just come off in August!!...Just in time! Also got pulled the other night for sliding my arse out on a roundabout the other night with aid of a handbrake... I didn't see the police car coming down the road!!!! Thankfully I just got a bo**ocking, and was told "to save it for the track!".... (You'd think I'd learn!?!) Good luck mate, hope they don't come down too hard on you - let me know how it goes!
-
Hahaha! Eloquently put Chrishill!
-
Same as that mate! I filled mine out to look like I have £7 each month of desposible income (which isn't far from the truth!). I guess if they can see all our money goes on modding our cars, drinking, socialising etc. then they'll slap a big old fine on, alternatively if our money goes on rent, clothing, food etc. it might be lessened?... I can only hope! My dad got nicked for drink driving once and because he had a Tax CCJ already which he had to pay, they didn't give him a fine at all... 6 months community service instead though! Every Sunday for 6 months he was painting public toilets, and digging trenches uphill(?!?!?!) for rain water to drain from parks?!?! (he had a very thick 'govenor'!) I'm estimating the same for me Purpley for my incedent (87MPH in a 50), what did you get caught doing if you don't mind me asking?
-
Lucky girl! Although Daisy Duke springs to mind... are you sure she didn't have a dopy policeman drooling at her feet or anything? I swear the fairer sex get a better deal than we do when it comes to stuff like this. One of my mates got done by x2 speed cameras both on the same road in Bournemouth a few years back. They acknowledged that she'd been caught on both camera's but only prosecuted her on one of the incidents?!... Nothing to do with a low cut top by any chance!?
-
Ah gutted Purpley! I do feel that taking it on the chin (honesty) is better than squirming, but I may well change my mind after the 28th. So are you waiting on a money making scheme, I mean speeding ticket, too?
-
Oh yeah I see what you mean. But then I presume they'd start making enquiries about who it was, etc etc. Could start a game of calling each others bluff. I almost feel its better to just take it on the chin and try and be more observant next time! By pleading guilty by post, they give you a grovelling section which is read out in my absence... I put it down to 'rank stupidity' and that 'I am certain that I have learnt my lesson' and stated that 'it will 'never occur ever again', and apologised for a 'dangerous act that I am deeply sorry for'..... I'm sure they've heard it all before though!
-
Cheers NAcORTf, I'll post the results on here for future reference! 140MPH - lucky guy to get what he got as a punishment. But yeah, the money would have been far more useful elsewhere (probably in the petrol tank, the way the government are taxing our petrol! ("I'm not driving a mini metro, I'm not driving a mini metro, I'm not driving a mini metro!") Good point Chrishill, I hadn't thought of that admitedly... wouldn't they require/request proof that there was someone legally allowed to drive it on that date though?
-
Yeah, but no-one else is insured on my Corrado - there's only one person it could be driving (unless the supposed other person driving was uninsured! - dunno whats worse?). It would only take them to look at my insurance certificate to discover that. I know what you're saying - the evidence is poor to say the least, they've kind of got me bang to rights though.
-
I'm less angry at the Copper who snapped me having seen the pic - he's obviously got talent!!
-
Just to let everyone know of my outcome : Got my Court Summons through (4 1/2 months after the incedent). I have pleaded guilty by post, so I now await the verdict!! 87MPH in a 50 zone... I'm guessing 6 points and a £300 fine? Any other guesses, anyone? Attached is their 'proof'...please note the only doctoring I've done to this photo is to the confidential info in the black band at the top.... in other words you can't even see who the driver is!! If someone else had use my the car, I would never have signed the NIP if I'd known how lame their evidence was! I'll let everyone know how I get on, after the dreaded day of the 28th November!
-
Spoke to one of my copper mates the other day and he confirmed the same as what you've said, Jay- up to 6 months from the NIP, after that you're ok. NIP was 30th June...its going arrive on bl00dy christmas Eve isn't it!!?! - just to spoil my Crimbo!!! :  :censored:
-
Yeah, the sodding police told him to take it up with his insurance company! Pah- Cheek of it!
