  1. Thanks for the replies. Kinda backed up my thoughts really- I was guessing at £1250-1500 with an mot so if it costs a couple of hundred quid to get it through an mot I'm still up on the £700-800. Good point Portent, although there is a mot garage about a minute around the corner. They believe as along as an mot is booked and I am insured I should be ok? Gutted that its come to this really but I'd rather see it sold than sad there looking sorry for itself...
  2. Here's a pic taken before it was sadly taken off the road....
  3. Hi all, I need to sell my VR6 and keen for suggestions. He's the scenario- I've owned the car for 12 years and always looked after it but a few years ago it got to the age where the common faults started to appear and a year ago the heater matrix went. Since then its been parked on my driveway and started up every couple of weeks. Its an Aqua Blue Vr with 120k on the clock, black heated leather in good order. It has 17" Dare supermesh alloys on it which frankly need removing as they have become shabby but the tyres are all good. I have the original alloys (but the tyres on those are shot). As I say the heater matrix needs doing and an ABS sensor needs replacing. Other than that its mechanically sound and the electrics are fine. Its fitted with coilovers and I have changed the gearknob (to one of first Zender gearknobs), steering wheel and rear lights but have all the original parts still so would fit these back on. Bodyworkwise, it was resprayed down the sides a couple of years ago (as some bstard keyed both sides) but the rear bumper had a slight knock by an annonymous crettin which damaged the paint and the front drivers wing needs attention. The front fogs and indicators are brand new. There is some audio in the car which I would remove and sell seperately. It has no MOT or tax so my question is do I see if it passes an mot (would obviously need to sort the ABS sensor for this) and sell it. Or, I have been potentially offered £700-£800 as it is currently? I don't really know what it would be worth with an MOT but its going to cost me a couple of hundred quid to get it through assuming it only needs the ABS sensor...? It would make a great base for a project car or a good standard car for someone who is good with working on cars. Suggestions please!....
  4. I used to get this all the time in the wet on many roundabouts; to the point that it became habbit to drive sideways at every oportunity as I was expecting it to happen - it was like my Corrado had been converted to rear wheel drive as soon as the rain came down. Mine is lowered quite a bit and the stiff ride combined with rear tyres that were of a hard compound seemed to be the culprit- when I replaced the tyres to softer compound the rear wheel drivness went away. Although it will still perform a very tidy lift off understeer.
  5. Thanks mate, had heard of FX but hear they may be a little on the pricey side? If you ahve details of the Andover one that'll be useful. Cheers
  6. Does anyone know of any decent bodyshops in/around the Basingstoke area? (20 mile radius). Any pointers gratefully received. :confused4:
  7. Green one coming out of Oakley last night heading the direction of Basingstoke, gave a wave but it was all a bit quick.
  8. not sure about the private plate and haven't seen the silver one either. I can't be very good at spotting! The only ones I ever see are the green one I mentioned and a blue one with clear rears which must be yours...! I think my jetta is great but the 2 door versions are soooo cool 8) Meeting is always the last Thursday of the month so next one is 29th April. Nick has just posted a thread about the next one. It's a good meet, usually 3 or 4 Corrados and a fair few Golfs etc :) Been a while since I've seen the toher two admitedly. Jetta's are defintely cool, my brother has only just got his so its going to be a while before it see's daylight. Might just pop along to the meet, I'll try and convince my brother to bring his mk2 down. (PVW front cover July 09 i think)
  9. quote] looked like the one in your avatar. It was low with clear rears and iirc the wheels were black with polished lip. Looked v shiny under the lights in the car park :) and was parked at the end of the row, bowling alley end. Can't remember seeing the N reg around. Don't usually see any in Bstoke although there is a Classic Green VR in Chineham Bus Park which I see occasionally. Mine isn't out too often either as I'm usually in my daily (so if you get a wave from a red Jetta, it's prob me!) There is now a monthly Basingstoke meet (BaD-VAG held at Longbridge Mill on A33) if you're interested in coming along? That's mine alright, I go there for the gym. Needs a bit of TLC on the outside- had the car 10 years now but it was garaged for two of those whilst I was driving a company car. Also want to change the wheels as they do look black despite being some polished finish and they haven't weathered very well. I think I've seen the green one around Chineham; does it have a private plate (Andy or something)? Think it might be a storm? Theres also a silver one in Hatch Warren owned by a grey haired chap. I'll look out for your jetta, my brother has just got himself a two door version. Meeting sounds good, when is the next one?
  10. That'll be mine I think... only the second time I've spotted someone on here! Car looked good :D[/quote:advm8qy5] I think it was mine anyway. Did it have polished wheels, quite low. Sadly its not looking as good as it was. needs a little tlc on the outside and the wheels need refurbing/replacing. Have you seen the N reg one up there with bbs rims, same colour as mine with storm badges (Not sure if its just a badged up as a storm or actually is a storm)
  11. Like a 'strech fit' tyre?
  12. Thanks for the replies chaps. I'm looking at a polished set for £350. Think these rims look very good on the C which seems a very hard car to get the right wheels for!
  13. Apologies if this has been covered to death (couldn't find a definite answer on previous posts) but can anyone tell me if the TT comp whell will fit directly onto my C (5 stud VR, standard brakes, low but adjustable suspension, smoothed arches) Would I need spacers aor anything? What should I expect to pay for a set second hand? Cheers for all the advice anyone can offer.
  14. Any common aspect to it; does it do it when its damp or anything? Mine had a dodgey HT lead that sparked out when it was damp and it caused a similar symptom?
  15. Saw a dark coloured, possiby blue, lowered Corrado with polished wheels on the A339 in Basingstoke heading in the direction of Newbury last night about 18:30. Drove past you and beeped to say hello... I was in a dark blue, lowered with polished wheels...yours looked very similar to mine!!
  16. All good advice- thanks people. I'm going to try my damn hardest to keep my corrado. I wanted one ever since I was a nipper - I'd hate to let it go after all this time of keeping it mint. But priorities are priorities I guess; I've had to move back in with my folks temporarily as the rented house I was in had to be sold, and its starting to slowly turn me insane!
  17. Now theres a thought!!!! I like you're thinking! If you don't ask you don't get afterall!
  18. I know - tell me about it!... There must be a way!!!... I would be more gutted than a bernard mathews turkey farm!
  19. I am indeed, and funnily enough I've just become an estate agent! Used to be a marketing exec but decided to take a career change - my bro's been one for 15 years, and 2 houses, a 550bhp RS4, VR6 mk 2 golf, and an air cooled VW-dub camper van can't be bad! Not just the deposit but the solicitor fees and stamp duty I'm thinking - there must be a way. Considering the possibility of a small loan and then get a place that I can house a lodger in the pay for the loan. Not ideal, but thats what my bro did when he first started out. after hanging on to the Corrado for 7 years I'm so reluctant to sell it now!
  20. No that's probably my only criticism of the car chains have not been done - Although Tim at The Phirm suggested that they seem ok at the mo - although he felt by about 120k they may need doing. Well that would get me my deposit on the house - seems between £4-6k is the suggested figure... Damn! I want to keep it AND get the house! :confused4:
  21. Hi all, I'm considering the sale of my Corrado VR so that I may buy a house. (I would put this post in the cars for sale section but please note its not actually for sale!)... breaks my heart just thinking about it! What does anyone think a late (1995) VR Corrado is worth these days? Just trying to get an idea as it may be the difference between buying a house or not. Just need a rough figure: Owned the car since Aug 2000 and it had 2 previous owners before that. M reg '95 met blue 2.9 VR with 105k on the clock. Mainatained religiously by VAG/The Phirm (Full History) Black heated Recaro Leather Coil-overs Dare Allloys (original's can be supplied) Immaculate paintwork FK rear lights (orginals can be supplied) Brembo brakes (discs and pads) Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser - full closure Never really had any problems with the car since I bought it 7 years ago- needed a clutch which was done at 60k, and had a new rad at about 80k... thats about it. Doesn't reallyt add value as such, but I've also had the bump strips removed, door handles painted, number plate surround painted, and have a new bonnet and Zender grille going on it soon. The car can be sold with the ICE - Pioneer mini-disc h/u, Pioneer CD autochanger, and Ipod connection (head unit controls ipod), Denon amp, JL Components, and JL 12w6 sub. Pics should be in my album - Rough ideas please! Cheers :(  :shaking:

Mine are currently shagged, and I'm fairly low on funds at the moment so thanks for the tip dude!

    Weird Starter

I've had this same problem too - it totally does your head in!!!! Mine seems to be sorted now but I (or rather The Phirm did) changed the battery and ignition switch, and it wasn't until I changed both the Fuel pump relay and the main control unit relay that the problem seems to have now gone. Although saying that the solinoid on my starter seems a little iffy so I'm not totally certain that its sorted - I'll give it another month or two to see if the problem rears its ugly head again, but for the past month or so now, it seems all good. Cost about £10 a relay - I can tell you the numbers if you need to purchase them. Other than that it could be a faulty immobiliser?
  24. New technology v's old; a 15 year old car v's a 5 year old one (approx) - Not a massively fair comparison in my mind but always nice to see the Corrado can still hold its own against the modern day rivals.
